The Mesmer seems a bit too specialized for my liking...

I think the Mesmer should have had the ability to screw up enemy's spells AND something else... something like summoning, or even having some good buffs.

Half the mesmer skills haven't been implemented yet. So far it's only good as a secondary. I'm very skeptical about the profession even being available for the E3.
Since only 4 will be open for it, am guessing they are Warrior, Ranger, Necromancer and Monk. Elementalist might make it the last day through their update system to showcase content, but Mesmer might be totally left out due to it still being an unfinished class...my $0.02

From the impression i got from the guy who wrote the last newsletter most people are pretty unhappy with the mesmer. But as we have established it isnt finished so it is a bit harsh to judge it on its current state.

Remember everything isn't finished, loads of stuff will be constantly changing. It's still only Alpha so there's a long way to g yet I think :)

The official FAQ says "We're showing the first three character professions at E3"... http://guildwars.com/faq/default.html

Four is even better though...! Can you point me in the direction of the article that says there are going to be four professions at E3...? I'm reading a lot of articles about Guild Wars but haven't run across that one yet... thanking you in advance... :)

Yeah I know... but they've already told us it was alpha, I was expecting to play unfinished classes... not not play them at all. :p

Oh Monkey! Stop being so picking.

I always was fasincated by druids irl... but the elementist is looking kinda like a druid, with their nature spells and such. Looking forward to playing it. Although right now from the list that they have, that its just fire spells, and one wind spell. Haha... I wonder if they will have a water spell for healing or the monk will get the healing.

I believe Monk gets the healing... but I think a dual Elementalist/Monk will probably kick some major butt...

I've been perusing these 2 sites:

http://www.guild-hall.net/index.php

http://www.photics.com

If you download all the newsletters from Photics.com I believe you'll be as up to date as most anyone here... there are 5 of them... :)

one thing that i noticed is that one proffessions is called elementalist, for an elementalist it sure is limmited to fire spells. or is that an alpha thing?

Lets start betting what the classes are...I put in..50 Gold (or whatever currency we get in GuildWars) that it's Warrior, Nec and Elementalist.

btw: Inatey, there are close to 30 spells/skills per class

ohh i didnt read that part... lol sorry but they show the elementalist to be a pyromanica (mostly)

i put 50 currency(c)
i put 50c on warrior nec monk

An elementist and monk would probably kick major tail end. So I guess what I'm going to be all depends on what is chosen for the 3 classes... haha... Elemensits/Warrior hopefully on the way. ^.^

I hope they implement the ranger as well it looks like a strong character who, thanks to the lynx, doesn't need a lot of defense.

If you want to know more about each caharcter's skills check out www.guild-hall.net (http://www.guild-hall.net) like somebody else already posted in this thread.

I dunno who your talking to about the mesmer.

I love the mesmer. Not to mention that in the arena they can dominate with a bit of protection.

The backfire curse that deals 20 damage to the target when that target casts a spell can make an elementalist go down real fast.

Also the thorns style curse is great and the summon phantom thing or whatever does 40 damage over 10 seconds and only costs 5 mana.

I've also got a spell thats not listed it weakens monsters with an AOE type deal.

My mesmer is combined with a necro to allow me to siphon life to stay alive and slow my enemies down. I don't do a heck of a lot of damage, but if I may be so bold as to say I can be quite usefull in a party by dealing a low but constant source of damage.

As opposed to my monk/nec that does a constant rate of healing/resurrecting =D
