Just in case you haven't seen the advert looking for webmasters on GWOnline.Net (http://www.gwonline.net) yet, if you would like to help run the GW site then please read this page (http://www.gwonline.net/staff/) and then send in your application. We'll be taking on a few people to work as a team and just so you know, the site is complete and ready to go :)
I may send in an application, but honestly I would like to try the game first.
Also, I would need someone to teach me the basics on HTML, but I am more than willing to learn! (I really want to learn actually, this would give me an excuse.)

Very little html is required, we have set it up so it's easy. Some basic html would be handy :)

Ah okay! That really puts my fears to ease then. I'll seriously consider sending an application by next week!
Yay I sent in an application. You should apply Monkey, you would be good at it. And it would be awesome if we got to work together on the site.

Yea do you have to be 18+ that would be very helpful to know right now.
The Shadow 2
One good thing about being 18 then! Yay. I should go buy a lottery ticket or something, then I can be rich and... play WoW forever.. haha... and lots of Guild Wars.. .lots of games all around.... Oooh one more full day till we get to play Guild Wars... okay enough rambling sorry!!!
You don't need to be over 18 necessarily but you do need to meet the requirements set out in the requirement page (http://www.gwonline.net/staff/). We find those in full time education (what with revision and exams) often don't have much time for working on a site unfortunately.
Mind you, I would imagine we'll see quite a few captioned shots and quality posts in this forum from the more serious applicants who emailed in. <hint hint> :uhhuh:
Ok nice to know i got that part out of they was. is there anything else we need to include in our application?
Hehe thanks for the hint Elly.
Now if only I could submit the screenshots.

What about Forum Mods? I would be interested in that job more so then I would be a webmaster. Dont know what the pre reqs for that would be but it is something i would look into. Plus I have learned from the great Zappa Fan, the best Mod ever. :D
Elly I don't know if you got my application because hotmail was being dumb that day... :hanky:

i wouldnt mind that either... i am thinking of sending an ap, but im not sure : / i coded my schools new web page, and i am learning new html and xhtml and javascript every day. if there is a forum mod job open, i wouldnt mind that, but i will put in an app for the webmaster too.
As far as I know, the moderating jobs is being choosed by the admins here and if they want someone, they will ask you if you are interested. I don't think they want applications on it since I guess there would be alot of people sending them emails/pms then. But I could be wrong :)
Elly/Rush have to come in with their 2 cents on this matter but this is what I have been told.

A well...Didnt hurt to ask. I would send in an app for the Webmaster...But with school and such I don't have enough time to devote to it. But I would have plenty of time to devote to modding. And like I said I learned from the great Zappa...:D

Speaking as me, not an admin on some other site, I would say that the best way to get noticed as someone who would make a good moderator is to use the alerts to help police the forums and generally be a good guide to people in the forums looking for information that is available on the loadedinc.com network.

I've decided not to send in an application. My heart is set on WoW, I think it would be unfair to have a webmaster that spends the majority of his time and interest on that instead of Guild Wars...
Admirable Nojin.
I on the otherhand, have simply had my heart stolen (for the time being anyway).
I'd love to help out still, and definately have the time to do so. By the way what's the ETA for when will the GW.net site is going start up (with more than the homepage and forums)?

Search in google, you will find a bunch of websites that can teach basic HTML.
Or, just find some basic looking websites and view the source. You can learn a lot from just looking at the code. Get a program like Dream Weaver and play around with it.

dream weaver is the devil! that being said, it is a good program to lean html on, cuz i can see the code as u put stuff on the web page. and with that said, i dont like it cuz i would rather code a page myself. a bit more pride in it i guess u could say.
now, with all of that said, i wouldnt mind letting a program do it for me if i was updating the GWOnline.net site :teeth:
Haha, I like coding myself... figuring out what the one little thing is fricken wrong with it, but when you are done with it, I get so happy cause I know I just made it.
*poke*

I do all my coding by hand, but commonly use dream weaver to lay things out. Plus, if you do a lot of coding, you will see flaws in coding without a GUI. Why? When you do things like enlarged text, the edges of the letters are not crisp. Any text editor like testpad, notepad, or Word will give you that problem. It takes something like Dream Weaver or Fireworks to remove that. Don't believe me? Play around with it and you will see.
Dream Weaver is also great for things like aligning tables. Code them in a text editor then hop into Dream Weaver to align them up. Or if you want to do things like compare borders to see which one you like most, it rocks, much quicker in Dream Weaver. Dream Weaver also will build templates and thumbnails nicely. If you have to build 100+ nearly identical pages, it may take you an hour or more to open each page up and change the image name and all that fun stuff. Dream Weaver can do that in a couple minutes.
Either way, goodluck.
Or you could write a cgi script to generate the pages on request (ie - you don't have the actual pages on the server, just the images - the cgi script does the rest).
As for administrators...I'd apply if I wasn't going to be busy with college :)...but if whoever you decide upon needs help with class specific sections I'll be glad to lend a hand.
i use dreamweaver but i do most of it in code form anyway, exept things like putting in frames and stuff like that, it is sooooooo much easyer with dreamweaver
