Necromancer Skill Locations

Hi all,
I just started playing Guild Wars and have an Elem/Necro character.
I want to make this thread solely for the purpose of posting the locations of Necromancer skills. I didn't find any thread like this in the forum yet. I believe it'll be very useful for everyone.

Please don't post any builds here. Only the locations of Necro skills that you find.

P.S. I just got to the post-searing era. I don't have any skills to post right now.

There are far too many places to get necromancer skills, so instead I'll just list some areas you may want to try.

Obviously, try all quest giving NPCs. Most will give either items or skills. These NPCs are all in major towns or just outside (in the exploratory areas).

The only NPCs that give skills who are not in towns are the following:
+ Ascalon Settlement: Captain Greywind (Skill Trainer), Farmer Dirk (Quest Reward)
+ Nebo Village: Inspector Caleb (Quest Reward)

There are likely others, but it is best to explore to find them.

It seems like if you miss any skills you can buy them from the skill trainers as you progress, excluding the elites. Wouldn't it be better if we posted what bosses have the elites to capture from and where they can be found? I'm searching for the Black Curtain right now and have had no luck finding it.

Akurei could you be more specific than "Galreths Balance(Elite) - From the dragon in the necro dragon lair." Because I have no idea where that is.

I think we should post any and every way of getting Necromancer skills. They can be elite skills, or normal skills, from trainers or bosses. I have an Elem/Necro character. So I'll be filling up this thread regularly for Necro skills.

I believe Bone Horror spell is picked up from a Necro NPC in the Catacombs right infront of the Ashford Abby Entrance, not sure I remember that correctly or not.

As for the Minions, I know that is obtained after reaching Lions Arch but I'm not sure where.

Life Transfer: Mersaat Necro bosses in the iron mines mission, and in fire island chain mission.

Lingering Curse: Necro Golem boss in the fire island explorable area.

Feast of Corruption: Ice Wyrm boss in the long snake path in southern shiverpeaks.

Verata skills (gaze, sacrifice, aura): copperhammer mines outpost in southern shiverpeaks.

Soul Leech: the bug necro things use them in the fire island explorable area, probably a boss in the zone.

Offering of Blood: stone summit necro boss in the thunderhead peak mission.


thats everything i can think of off the top of my head o.o;; I've done pretty much every quest available to me, and been to all the outposts but there are still a few normal skills i don't have (desecrate enchantments comes to mind). I've seen mobs use it though, so you might have to capture some normal skills also.

So you can only find a boss that uses Life Transfer in the Iron Mines only if you have the mission? So if u don't have the mission can u not get it there?

Um, if you haven't gotten there in the main story yet, you obviously can't get it. And you can redo any missions you have gotten to, so that's not a problem. If I misunderstood you in any way, I apologize.

Hmmm I think I got the Iron Mines mission mixed up with an Iron Horse Mines Quest because I know in that quest you have to fight some uniques. So the only way to get to the Iron Mines Mission is to keep doing missions until you get there? Are you talking about different missions than the Borlis Pass and Frost Gate missions? Also I would like to know if anyone knows where the skill Demonic Flesh is. Thanks

Iron Mines and fire island chains are past ascension (once you ascend, there's dragons lair mission then you end up at droknar forge). The missions are pretty tough, and some require repeats (part of iron mines mission infuses your armor with a special property that resists the mersaat's special attack. Later missions require a fully infused armor set, or you won't survive ^^;)

Has anyone found the *Quest* for minions/fiends?? The skill trainers are obviously far too late in the PVE game to be useful. Like blood of the master, I'm certain there are quests earlier on in the game, before you get to the skill trainers that train the skills.. It's just a matter of finding the quests I would think.

In the Iron Mines of Moladune mission you can get Life Transfer from Feodor the Baneful (Mursaat) and Spiteful Spirit from Ceru Gloomrunner (Azure Shadow). In Thunderhead Keep you can get Offering of Blood from Riine Windrot (Dwarf).

Im only L14 W/N but would really love Life Transfer. I read this can be captured from a boss in the "second" shiverpeaks mission. Does any1 know this for sure?

Life transfer is only obtainable near the end of the game missions, the first shiverpeak missions (around yaks bend) are different.

Found Well of Blood in Yak's Bend. Talk to the guy standing in a corner between the two "Yak pens." He gives you a quest and lets you "borrow" Well of Blood. Of course you keep it after that :)

Copperhammer Mine is north east of Droknar's Forge. Its quite a little hike north east through a couple zones that have quite a few baddies in them. I believe there is also a quest in Droknar's Forge that takes you near copperhammer if not right by the zoneline. Either way, with or without the quest you still have a nice hike ahead of you.

Is Copperhammer Mines the ONLY place to get Verata's <skills>, or are there quests that grant them, too? I haven't even used it and I'm addicted, since I'm building a minion Necro. ;_;

Well I think I can help you with that :p I just found out that Signet of Agony can be gotten as a quest reward from a ghost called Tirzah in Seeker's Passage. Hope that's gonna help someone ...

Hell's Precipice on a Risen Ashen Hulk boss. Not sure of the name, but he's always around on that map.

Well of Power - Mineral Springs - Darkclaw something . . . an Avicara necromancer boss. Mineral Spings is north of Granite Citadel, and its a very glitchy area . . . there are also other boss professions up there, where one can obtain Flourish and Shield of Regeneration and others. A good place to find rare elite skills.

Soul Leech - Abaddon's Mouth - from the necromancer Dark Flame Dryder boss . . . he's a bit out of the way. So far I haven't been able to find a boss DFD in Perdition Rock, the explorable area outside Ember Light Camp, although there are alot of the DFD's there.

Life Transfer - Abaddon's Mouth - Sarlic the Judge I think his name is, the Mursaat necromancer boss. He's usually paired with another boss Mursaat, such as Willa the Unpleasant (monk), and could be paired with a mesmer or elementalist mursaat boss too (if you haven't realized, Abaddon's Mouth is an excellent place to go elite skill hunting, there are probably at the very least 7 or 8 skills to be obtained there).

Tainted Flesh - Perdition Rock - from a Drake necromancer boss, I forget his name at the moment. You may have to rezone in the area to get the right spawn, there is often a warrior boss in the same place, and possibly maybe another, but always one at a time.

Lingering Curse - Perdition Rock - I'm assuming its available to be captured there, seeing as there are about 236 Flesh Golems walking about the area who all have it. It would only make sense if there were a boss. Often, you'll see boss versions of the Flesh Golems named "Dwaya's Cursed", or "Melandru's Cursed". Those bosses carry an elite monk and ranger skill, respectively. It could stand to reason that there would be a "Grenth's Cursed" lurking about, and that he would most likely carry the skill with him.

Where do you get the signet of capture? sounds splendid getting these skills from mobs.

The skills I listed above are ALL elite skills, and unless I'm horribly mistaken, you can ONLY obtain elite skills by capturing them from enemy bosses.

Signets of Capture can be bought at Quarrel Falls from the skill trainer.

in the ice floe, theres a pack of mursaat off to the side, one of the mursaat necromancers has a green boss glow, but his name is mursaat necromancer, he DOES HAVE LIFE TRANSFER, just got it from him

To the guy asking about Bone Minions, I captured that spell from a boss in the D'Alessio Seaboard mission. He also has Dark Bond and Death Nova.
