View Full Version : Teamspeak ?'s
Ok I've never used TS in my gaming career so it's all new to me. I have a couple questions that I hope someone could answer (by the way I got the Collectors Edition with the 3 free months of teamspeak).
1) How do I connect? (i know really dumb ?)
2) How do i tell what other players are using TS?
3) How could I be this dumb?...lol :happy14:
Teamspeak is a server/client program. That is, someone has to start a server, and then other people connect to it.
I don't know what you're 3 free months gives you, but I would assume it involves getting a place to put your own server (because it's free to connect to someone else's server).
The IP address is the main way of identifying a server (yours or someone else's). Once the server is running, the IP address has to be given out by the person running the server so that clients know which address to type into their Teamspeak program.

In the collector's edition you have the game, the soundtrack, the manuscripts, a book of Guild War Art, the quick guide to key assignments, the Guild wars headset, and the free Teamspeak disc. Many people don't believe TS is free, even though one look at www.goteamspeak.com provides you a free download of both the client and the server.
(the following information is what I have been told, not what I have proven) The "free 3 month" TS server from what I understand is used to access and run a TS server on a different network instead of your own network. It is called your server, and you are given the IP address to give to friends and what not, but the service itself runs on a server elsewhere so it does not eat any bandwidth (not that TS really does anyway).
If I am wrong, I am sure I will be corrected quickly :happy14: :happy34:

Err, so you can host TS on your own computer for free? The 3 months only retricts accessing an outside server? Just want to double check.
Better still, give Skype a try.
http://www.skype.com
It is a free, serverless, P2P voice chat client. The voice quality is better than Vent or TS, and the bandwidth requirements are very low.
No subscription required.
It seems that Skype is limited to max 4 persons though.
