I have done very well in Guild Wars with this build - I am currently lvl 20 and trying to fight my mirror image.
Here are my stats:
Soul Reaping 11
Death Magic 9
Blood Magic 8
Cruses 4
Inspiration magic 4
Domintaion Magic 3
Illusion Magic 3
In the rest of the game - I mainly use various life-stealing and energy stealing skills - along with well of blood, rotting flesh, Deathly Swarm, Shadow Strike, Strip Enhancement, Suffering, and well of suffering for the necro part. For the Mesmer part - Energy Tap, Backfire, Chaos Storm, Inspired Hex, Shatter Delusions, and Shatter Hex. All have worked well for me, up to this point.
The mirror image uses mainly Weakness, Faintheartedness, Soul Barbs, and Divine Fire. The clsest I have been is around 25% life left on the Mirror image with some suggested combinations, from this forum.
Any other suggestions?
thanks!!
Lose those points in soul reaping (if just for this battle), they serve you no purpose given that nothing is going to die before you win or lose which ends the encounter.
If you could have gotten him to 25% health with most of your points in a (for this encounter at least) useless attribute imagine how much better you could be with those attribute in a useful place.

Where would you suggest me to put them? I thought about tweaking my stats, but it won't let me now - maybe I am doing something wrong.
What about Divine Fire? I have not found any information on this skill at all.
Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I am wondering if the mirror image uses a bow - even though not equipped is because I did the ranger and monk quests before this one.
Any opinions are appreciated.

take all your armor and clothes and weapons off before starting
when you start the mirror will be naked, and then you equip all your **** real fast and commence the asswhooping

I took suggestion from other threads and did beat my mirror image!! I used 3 skills - Deathly Swarm, Weaken Armor, Vampire Gaze - the rest of the skills were life sacrificing ones - except for Blood Renewal. I basically hit her with Weaken Armor, Deathly Swarm, and then Vampire Gaze - I did this 3 times and she was down for the count and I had about 20% life left. I DID WIN!! WOOT!!
Good Luck to All and Thanks!!

in case anyoen else is looking for N/me mirror strategies:
I was running Me as my secondary when I went up against my mirror, had one helluva time with him until I came up with the goofiest combo.
with NO points in mesmer I equipped backfire and blackout. Thats it.
Turns out.. the mirror is VERY fond of using backfire and blackout.
The trick that finally got him was as soon as I got in, I smacked him with a backfire, and just started in with my deadly cesta, and didn't do anything else until he fell over.
He still attacked between spells but I would get two to three hits in while he was casting, effectively doing as much or more than he was.
Definitely not an "elegant" win, but it worked.

Not opinion but experience: yes the mirror uses bow and melee (axe) to great effect, no matter what you prim and sec classes are.
Btw the melee weapon the mirror uses was changed at some point. The first time my warrior met its mirror it used a sword, now it uses a glowing axe, not just against my warrior but also against my necro and my monk.
The easiest way is to just have Empathy, put 12 points in Domination & then dodge his arrows till he kills himself, don't forget to recast Empathy when it wears off.

That's what I did with my Mesmer primary, lol. Cheap but effective.
