Well anyways, I recently reached 999 screenshots and that's apparently the max that you can have in your /screens/ folder and so I had to move all of them which was like 3.5 gb or something, well anyways.. Is there a way to make Guild Wars save them automaticly as jpg cause.... It's definently going to be a ***** converting 999 screenshots to jpg, actually does anyone know a program that can convert a large ammount of bmps to jpg at the same time? Cause that'd help me a lot too >.>

There's probably a really simple batch tool that you could use but Photoshop's "Save For Web" optimisation function is really easy to use.
You need a copy of Photoshop though...=)

Try Irfanview.
You can use it to write very simple script, like converting a whole directory to jpg.
It is a powerful tool too.

Edit : and it's a freeware :).

Can you? Hmmm, good to know.
I just downloaded and installed IrfanView and it looks like I can convert an entire directory (and subdirectories) without having to write a seperate script.
Under File, there is an option to Batch Convert. In the "Work As" box near the bottom of the window, make sure the Output Format is JPG, and the Options is set to what you want it to be, and then hit the Start button near the top middle of that window.

you could try getting FRAPS from www.fraps.com
That gives you an option to save images as JPG and record upto 30 seconds of gameplay, unless you decide to buy it.

As for having GW save in .jpg, not likely to happen. It's a smaller format because it involves compression, which involves more cpu power, whereas bitmap has no compression (at least in this version, I think so), so uses much less cpu time. So, unless you want GW to hang whenever you take a screenshot...
Still, glad to see you found a solution! I'll be saving that link myself, as well...

If you have Photoshop CS(1 or 2) you can also very easily make a batch program to do this for you. Make an action (just opening a file, saving for web), go to automate-batch, pick which folder you want to do and where you want them saved and bam - 2 minutes max to set it up (and that's if you don't know how to create an action ;)).
Edit: Just tested doing my folder. 15 seconds to define the action, 45 to browse for my folder for the batch (I hid it well for some reason!). Under 2 mins for me (though depends on your computer) to convert 350 bmps (1280x1024) to jpgs quick and dirty going from 1.1GB to 279MB - that's with the least compression I could do. Went back and deleted all the bmps which was a big help on my laptop hard drive especially when I have .crw files (10mb+each!) piled up waiting to go through and edited.
In the ACDSee 5.0 (i dont like the later versions) just select as many images as u want, then Right click and select "Convert to" it will convert all your screenies to the format (and setting) u want, and u can select "Delete Source Files" wich will automatically delete the old BMPs.
I believe that Google's Picasa also has that feature, but be adviced that all google's software contains several spywares/addwares.

You can also use the program which was originally developed for Half-Life. It will however work with any game. Just point it to a directory, and all bmp files in that directory will be converted to jpg's.
Download BMP to JPG converter (http://www2.hku.nl/~rob3/bmptojpg.zip)
