View Full Version : Uh? Can you make any sense out of this Luxon comment?

I visited that Luxon settlement in North Kryta Province and talked to every Luxon I met there.

I couldn't make any sense out of this comment by a Luxon peasant regarding amber and Kurzicks.

Luxon Peasant:If the Kurzicks didn't want us taking their amber they would become stronger.

Mmm. Now that I typed it out - is this like 'Klingon-speak' Quintus discussed in the other thread? Luxons' attitude seems to be that of 'strong makes right.' So does this implies that if Kurzicks didn't want Luxons to take their amber, they have to become stronger in order to prevent Luxons from doing so?

Forgive me if this is a waste of your time and bandwidth - English isn't my native language so this line had me a bit muddled.

You've got it. The Luxons believe that 'might makes right', and that anybody incapable of defending their property and territory from the Luxons deserve to have their goods and land stolen from them. If the Kurzicks (or anybody else) don't want the Luxons to steal from them, thye should build up better defenses and train better troops.

This is on par with the beliefs of many ancient raiding, nomadic cultures, like the Vikings and the Mongols. However, I find such a philosophy personally abhorrent, and it's why I'm siding with the Kurzicks.

;-) Same here, it's Kurzicks for me. Unless my guild says so otherwise :scared:

For me, personally, I think the "would" in the statement might have been intended as a "should" as in, "they should become stronger."

Thanks a lot, I did not understand either. Even translated in french, it was not clearer.

I think what it is trying to say is that the Luxons view the Kurzicks as weak, and if they'd let the Luxons conquer them, or rule them, that the Kurzicks would become stronger simply through alliance or sublimation to the Luxons.

Thus, if they'd only let the Luxons have that amber, thereby giving up their main right as an independant civilization, they may become Luxons and be strong like "all" Luxons.

I think that fits with the Luxonic mindset, and is how I interperted the statement when I came across it in Kryta.

Yeah. My interpretation is the guy believes the Kurzicks want the amber stolen (maybe to use the theft as an excuse to war), and if they didn't they would fight harder to keep it.

i just take it as they clearly dont care about the luxons takign their amber, because if they did they would build better defenses

or just "they deserve it"

go luxon :P
