View Full Version : Did anybody get a log of the latest visit?

Gaile visited Kaineng Centre just after the recent update.
I had to go get some sleep afterwards, but I checked on here when I got up, and was shocked to find that there wasn't a log of it.
After waiting for a bit, I have decided to ask, does anybody have a log of it?
I came in slightly late, missed the beginning, and forgot to even attempt to log it  (was too busy admiring my new Miniature Kuunavang, and enjoying the conversation )
So, does anybody have a log of the visit? If so, could they please post it, so I can see what I missed? Here's hoping somebody was more on the ball than I was
I'm with Troy here, I popped in a bit late, and was so engrossed in conversation that I didn't think to ask who was logging until Gaile had already left. :embarassed: By then the only dev chat left was the Conga. I do hope someone has the log coming as I was pleasantly surprised to speak to the Frog as well before he nodded off to sleep.
I saw a log on another website's forum, PM me for more info

I'll be surprised if [boat] were caught napping. They haven't missed a log since I've been playing. I'm sure we'll have it up soon.
Well, I think we may have missed this one. A lot of [boat] members are still out exploring Cantha and it's many wonders.
I'd say give it a little while and everything will get back to normal.

I logged it.
Problems with it (and why I'm not likely to post it here unless quite a few want to see it):
I was disconnected for a short period of time so I missed a little
GWO = Mal and [boat]'s turf, I dare not intrude
Nothing extremely important was said, except that changes as to how "elite" missions are handled are unlikely :/
Please do post the logs K. I can pretty much guarantee Mal isen't going to come in and delete them. Everyone should post them as soon as possible in my opinion. It's kinda like a race!

I'm not worried about posts being deleted, it's more a matter of not wanting to invade his/[boat]'s turf (here, on GWO).
...okay, anyway:

Short period of interruption between the end of the second and the beginning of the third, missed maybe 5-10 lines of text.

[boat]'s loggers very much like the help of people logging, becuase, on occasion, we do miss a visit. And with factions recently released, many of us are still bouncing around Cantha.
So, if you do log it, and we havnt already posted, post it, please! Normally, if we dont have it up in 30 seconds after they are gone, we didnt get it, or its a new logger, one of the two.
So now it's official. Jewels have no use. For now anyway.
It's also confirmed that grinding for faction is l33t and being in a small guild with friends is stupid if you want to play the whole game :undecided:
Is it just me or is Gaile's happy happy talk becoming unbearable ? I prefer "I'll report you myself" Gaile.

Well bad news about the jewels - after I specifically kept the one Ruby I found lol.
Also very unamused to read that basically if you are in a small guild with mates such as I am then you're stuffed. I dont see the "one big family" thing at all. If youre in a guild with keg loads of members you dont make friends just like that!!
Plus you dont get a much fun out of the game if you're with people you dont really know.

Hmm...
When gaile said jsut go win hoh to the god alone knows how long thread about favour i decided nto to waste any more time going to her chats in LA.
Now i think i may consider not even reading the logs .l33t in deed.
CH3 - Sneak preview - only for the two L33t alliances that are the town holders at the end of 5 months - casual skilled players need not apply.
Your right that WILL be a Surprise to the community.

Ah. I missed that. Somehow I am developing the feeling that this game is moving towards rewarding the best players & catering for them too much and saying "tough m8" to the rest of us.
One day they may find that the rest of us are quite a large majority

I was the second Kunnie comment, and I really love him! Only straight away someone whispered me and asked to buy him!!! I was so angry, I am *not* selling him.

Just for those that want to save time, here's what pertinent information I surmized from the logs above from 'k the monk'. Please keep in mind that I may have paraphrased some of this and you can read the log yourself if you want the exact info:
-Gaile's personal opinion is in favor of a charm/comfort combination.
-Mini-pets are not effected by titles or going to receive any.
-Jewels do not have a use at this time.
-Gaile's characters have a miiature Jungle Troll and a Char Shaman for her GW birthday mini-pets.
-At this time there is not means to "upgrade" from SE to CE.
-Early missions (pre-searing/starter island) in the opposite lands of character birth will not be opened. (Ex: Cantha born character cannot access pre-searing. Ascalon born character cannot access cantha starter island.)
-Prints of game art will be at various fan events for signing, etc. (PAX in August, Bellevue in Washington, etc.)
-Xunlai will be "more accomodating in the future" but no dates or timeline given. Also referenced there won't be MORE storage but BETTER storage.
-Elite Missions were a design decision.
-Reconnects are on the list of things to work on. No timeline given.
-Gaile's personal opinon is in support of carrying greateer than 100k.
-Gaile has been told merging of accounts must be done on creation because they can't do it later.
-More character slots will be available "in the near future."
-They are aware of needed improvements to Hench/NPC AI.
-Gaile encourages that players move to a larger alliance for the greater good.
-Gaile is in strong support of the rewards system for larger guilds/alliances accessibility rewards vs. smaller ones saying "There has to be some coolness factors and some 1337-ness!"
-Gaile has thousands of Guild Emblems to coordinate next week.
-Gaile will be at E3 and may write travel diaries.
-Auction houses are a maybe but "trade improvement" are on the list.
-Highest priority is readying Campaign 3 while supporting 1 and 2 also fixing bugs and smoothing glitches.
-All the new guild halls for Factions is in.
-Extra content (Ex: Sorrow's Furnace from Prohecies) not expected for Factions.
-No combo pack deals at this time (assuming chapter 1 and 2 together).
-Mini-pets will not be useable in town.
-If an alliance drops off on participation their faction degrades over time.
-Chapter 3 theme was surprising and caused Gaile to be 'amazed'.
-No level increase beyond 20.
-No plans for GW on any consoles at this time.
-They are aware of 12 v 12 communication problems but say this is why they split players into 4 person groups so you can organize the smaller squads instead of 12 person groups.

ANet's stubbornness on the Elite Missions thing is really irritating. It was a 'design decision'? Sounds a little too much like Dubya: "I'm the decider!"
Their highest priority is campaign 3 while fixing bugs and smoothing glitches? They need to fix campaign 2's issues before that. Between the CE availability fiasco and the current implementation of elite missions, I'm not nearly as excited for the prospects of c3 as I was for Factions.

Personally, the main reason I'd like the reinstatement of the 12-member party list for Alliance battles is I want to see who the leavers are.

The l33t comment was pretty disgusting, as well as telling people to just join bigger "familys". I bought this game because it was supposed to be about skill not time spent grinding, but now if i want to access part of the game i have to grind for faction, and choose my guild based on numbers rather than friendships.

Is it me or is she just ignoring the arguements agains the "elite" missions?
Her happy talk may be right for the younger audiance. As a buyer I'm not really impressed. GuildWarsFaction-is-good-and-you-are-just-jealous-cos-you-are-not-elite.

Yes, that comment she made of the join a bigger family is wrong, very wrong. Ive read on forums of a one of the larger groups she wants us to join requiring you to donate 5k faction a day. I have no desire to even attempt to get 5k a day, even less of one for a group of people I know nothing about. Not to mention, the guild I am in is one that I am very happy with, I should not have to leave a guild that I am happy with just to be able to play missions, not to mention I want to play those missions with my guild, and them joining a bigger allience is not an option, snice we are already the leader of another allience, that is happy with eachother, as we have been playing together for quite some time.
Grinding is not something we should have to do to get in the missions. We are a luxon allience, but some of our members perfer Kuzsick, and we arnt the type of people to say you must be luxon. And those of us that are luxon want to get armor as well, which requires faction as well. Right now our allience has 36754 faction. Highest we got was 50k or so. Once we all get the armors we want we may be able to control one of the outer towns, but to get over 2 milion faction to control the main city is not something I think we can do with the current setup. One thing that could be done to make it more even for all guilds and alliences, big and small, is do degen of the faction on how many members you have in the allience. This would give smaller guilds the chance to get those towns.
Gaile said that we would have to wait and see how the mechanics of the system worked. I encoraged others to wait and see as well, but I was wrong. The doomsayers that alliences would be for the 0.1% of people that grinded faction were right. The current system needs to be looked at.

Yes, that comment she made of the join a bigger family is wrong, very wrong. .
A lot of my guild's members live in places where they cant get Factions, or ordered CE's which are starting to arrive but might be delayed until June, or just havent bought the game yet.
What am I supposed to do? Boot them because they cant grind?
Damn you Arena.net for making me choose between your stupid design and longtime friends.

Only 8.5?
One big happy family??, and now 1337?? what the hell is she on ffs, just another stupid comment that proves A-net really dont give a toss about PvE, as to really get anywhere in Factions you have to PvP, and be in an Alliance just consisting of Faction Farmers and not Friendship.

I am in full agreement with many posters here about the elite missions. I have no intention to go spend 3 hours a day grinding faction. I specifically came to GW because it was supposed to not require the grind, or at least not much. If I wanted to grind I'd go play WoW. ANet needs to re-examine why many of us play GW instead of some other game out there. I am fine with restricting access to elite areas, like FoW/UW has been implemented. I am not in favor of rewarding people with no life (offense specifically meant to those who don't make any significant contributions to society).
GW's new elite mission system rewards quantity over quality. That's generic MMO BS.

Anets grand idea was probably for us to all be one big happy gaming family, however they need to realise in gaming and real life things dont happen like that.
I have colleagues/friends at work who I wouldn't socialise with outside of work hours, let alone gaming with people who I dont know from Adam.
Hell, even teaming up with an 8 man PUG is fraught with thoughts of "can I trust them...will they ditch...will they nick the good drops...are they even any good...etc" (especially after a bad experience last night!).
Multiply that exponentially and you have a large guild and alliance. You have absolutely no way of vetting other players or guild members, and lets face it with the way Factions is designed to work Guilds are only too happy to take on other players so someone being kicked from a guild for being a **** can still progress.
Imho, having to grind faction almost verges on exploiting the game.
Fortunately for me I havent got to the point yet where Prophecies is boring so I am quite content to play both games. Sadly though whereas I was very keen to progress fast in Prophecies, I do not have that same feeling with Factions.

Well, a few of us there were talking about it, and suggested balancing the Faction and Control issue. Gaile seemed reasonably receptive as far as she can be in her position, so they could be reviewed in the future. I doubt it'd happen straight away though, as the Dev Team is most likely on debug mode at the moment.
They need to debug too, factions is disease riddled compared to prophecies...
Spending 10 hours a day farming faction sounds a lot like WoW, and from all the reviews ive read, and the ppl ive spoken with, WoW is better at it too. If all i wanted to do was sit in front of my monitor on zombie-faction-farmer mode, id buy WoW.
