Froggie's a Canthan? Odd, I thought he originally hailed from Kryta... *remembers all those issues about getting Froggie on a boat in the Gaile Chats during pre-release*
Good to see there's lots of stuff planned for the Dragon Event, unfortunately I won't be around to experience it beyond the first day
By the way, love the new avie Mal

I wonder what someone said to get her miffed.
I wonder what someone said to get her miffed.
Given what I saw in just the time running through Lion's Arch it could be just about anything - with the mentality and lack of courtesy from some players. Seriously, I wonder why people are so potty mouthed sometimes. I've got about 15 screen captures of absolute, utter filth.
Why, for example, would somebody be screaming "**** me! **** me!" in Lions Arch? That's just wrong in so many ways. Disgusting.
Edit: Word filter caught that one. But you can well imagine.
Yeah what Froggy is from Tyria!
You are correct, Froggie is a Tyrian by birth. I guess I thought "Canthan" because of his current residency, but yes, he's a Tyrian, born and raised near Lion's Arch, I believe. He's settled into Kaineng Center quite well. And yet I think he would enjoy Shing Jea Monastery very much, and might well make it his permanent home. My thought was to find an attractive spot for him, invite him to take a short boat trip (I have to emphasize "short" because boat trips give him the heebie-jeebies!) and see how he feels about it. Given the holiday nature of the Dragon Festival, and given Froggie's great love for a party, I bet he'll have a blast.
I want to thank everyone who helped me find a few choice spots for TF. And of course, those who forgave me for popping through the bloomin' portal, which I swear was moved down the steps since last month when I was in SJM!
As to what I said at the end, here's the greater detail, cause I really didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable there (that is, the folks responsible for the whole message). Here's what happened: Two people made suggestions during a chat a week or a few weeks ago. I responded to them then. They wanted, today, to have me talk about it again at length. But I had nothing new to relay, so I answered them briefly. However, the spamming continued, unabated, in a form such as, "What do you think about my suggestion about (such and such) that you said you liked last time." The telling thing is that it was discussed last time, and... well... it just seems very rude to not answer other people and continue a discussion on a previously-given suggestion about which there really is nothing new to say.
So the whole bit that I said was my way of trying gently to communicate that "If you make a suggestion and I respond, then you can be sure that it's on the list for me to share with the rest of the team, and unless there's new info for me to share about that idea, please do not spam about it in the future." That does not apply to those polite individuals who post once or twice to follow up. That applies only to those who spammed the follow-up, dozens, perhaps 100+ times, and who were making it very difficult to see the suggestions of others.
There is no way I would want to stop anyone from conversing, and I loved everyone who stopped by for a chat! I ask only that each person show consideration to others and constrain the spammage as much as possible so that every player has a chance to be heard.

What is she talking about "When you respec your ranger, your pet goes poof"? Does she mean change the ranger's secondary profession? I know when my other characters change to and from Ranger secondary, whatever pet they used to have stays with them as far as levels and type of pet.......or is she referring to keeping a pet even as a Mo/N?.....as in a Mo/N with no charm animal but the pet is in game?

I was wondering about that too. A pet stays if you change your secondary from ranger to something else. If you change back, it's still there.
Maybe this wasn't the case in the past?

I hope you all know what you are doing, hosting the GC fan event on Sunday. This is not like the last day of E3, where everything is calm an empty. GC-Sunday is hell. On Thursday the whole floor will complain about the unbearable noise of the EA-Booth; on Saturday/Sunday EA will have to crank up the volume so people INSIDE can hear the trailers.
I remember one particular Microsoft goose chase promoting Xbox: It was the apocalypse going from one checkpoint to the next. I've seen rock concerts, the fall of the Berlin wall, the carnival in Venice: no crowd was as bad as the GC:Sunday crowd. Trust me on that one.
So whatever you do, no wild goose chase please.

we live in The Netherlands (NOT Holland) and we speak Dutch (NOT Deutsch, which is German)Well, I'll explain that, you bet! When I was a child, my mother and father called The Netherlands "Holland." I confess that I thought they were one in the same, that is Holland = The Netherlands. Sure, I knew the name of the nation was The Netherlands more recently, but with that, I wondered, "Did the name of the language change, from Dutch (which I associated with the name "Holland") to another name?" I thought not, but since I have a tendency to slip and say "Holland" every once in a while, I wanted to be sure I wasn't slipping up on the language name, too.
Now you have me intrigued and I shall go look up when the change in name came about, and whether it also involved national boundaries, too. Thanks for the clarification. (And yes, I did know that Dutch and Deutsch are different languages.)

See, I don't think we have anything planned with fowl, but it's not too late to toss in a couple of geese if you suggest it.

Oh no big problem ;) it's a common mistake. Holland is only the west side of The Netherlands (North-Holland and South-Holland). (see also wiki

Btw I'm looking forward to the dragon event

wild-goose chase: GC-Style
While most game companies enjoyed tossing trinkets at the crowd, one earlier mentioned company was somewhat more reluctant in handing out promotional items for their video gaming platform.
In a stroke of genius, or maybe just a stroke, they decided to spread out game displays in the far corners of the exhibition floor. In order to receive your trinket all you had to do was to simply go and collect one stamp at each place. On Thursday it worked fine, but by Saturday a raving crowd had blocked the hall, making it next to impossible to move around. Foolishly, I dared to say that I was destined to conquer this very crowd and be back in 30 minutes to claim my fanboy treasure. In reality all I could do was enter the flow and be pushed around. Time and space faded as the individuals around me had relinquished all form of control. In twisted agony you were forced along, as the crowd pushed you into the EA booth. With no means of escape, I had to listen to 15min of promotional trash talk by the creator of the Catwoman Video Game. In time, we were flushed out by some infernal 360 surround videos, only to be pushed into the next horrific booth. There Sony tried to impress us with the most abominable German techno fiends ever to walk the fiery pits of European dance floor hell. At the height of Anti-Americanism in Europe, a poor Exile Cuban in a U.S.Army costume was giving his best to promote videogames, using highly repetitive base lines, tough attitudes and loose breasts. May he rest in piece now, but the songs he performed there will forever haunt the likes of Simon Cowell in the ethereal plane of doomed music producers. Getting the stamps was just as hard. Each hour or so, I was washed ashore at one of five Xbox islands. There people tried to hold onto joypads in an effort not to be swept away by the crowd. The Microsoft attendant had long been lost in the midst of the battle, so we were left to our own blood-drenched devising in order to pinch geometrical holes into our postcards, using a piece of metal chained to a display. 4 hours and some scarring later, I was finally back at the MS counter to claim an Xbox Yo-Yo. To this very day however, it miserably fails to entertain me. Although while handling it, the Yo-Yo provides strange noises and flashing lights, the terror and the agony of getting it prevails.
So if any Anet staff is to attempt a round of conga there, he or she better bring a couple dozen stampeding Bladed Aatxe, else it might prove too hard to part the crowd. Or better, abuse the real life cart racing track they got there each year. So we all can earn our “I conga with Gaile” commemorative button/pin.

Holland is actually a region in The Netherlands, it consists of 2 of the 12 provinces that we have here in The Netherlands. North-Holland and South-Holland.
and yes i'm that guy that asked you that question (and got you confused probably   )
:edit: ack, missed Nibor's reply 2 posts earlier..

Gaile was referring to mini-pets poofing if the character is deleted...just like any other item.

Hey all. Got a new log for you. Also a quick thanks to Vallen Frostweaver for making the log summaries. Not a problem. I think my job is much easier as I just follow up at my leisure rather than keep 24/7 Gaile-dar going though.

Oh.
Just put the thing in storage. Eh?
What I hate is I've made and deleted so many characters that I only, by luck, have one coming up on a birthday date. Even though I played in BWE back in the day.

Tee hee hee. The same thing happened to me! If it wasn't the hair, it was the attribute point spending as I experimented and so forth. (Remember when we had to buy attributes back!)
So I've got about six months of sweet anticipation ahead of me and I've just started killing off PvE toons so they can all have the same surname.

Heh, yep. I feel bad for people whose playing style is to constantly remake characters. Anet kind of catered to my own playing style, which is to have one overall persistent main character.

Yeah, but sometimes it's a discovery of what works and what doesn't work. You play a few different styles to get a feeling for what you like, really. But once my baby girl was born I could actually sit down and focus on one character and have the time to play. So I've had one for six months now with some serious play time behind her
