View Full Version : PvP 1v1 smaller groups, larger groups, raids?
I don't know if there is a post about this anywhere, if there is let me know because I am interested.
I would love to be able to do some 1v1 or 2v2 style PVPing, all the way up to large groups, more than just GvG. It would be awesome to be able to shut up all those talkers that say you suck when it was them who died 8 times.
Raids would be awesome, set up a couple areas in the game where huge groups can gather to accomplish missions or just killing stuff. I haven't started factions yet, will this weekend, so I don't know if there is anything in there like this but it would be sweet.
I am sure other people would like to see some of this stuff too, let me know what you all are thinking.

1v1 PvP has already been discussed, the game really isn't balanced towards it and the way things work out it's biased towards certain classes/professions, so imo it's not really necessary - if you want to try 1v1ing a friend, scrimmage them.
It's hard to balance large-scale PvP in the style Guild Wars uses beyond the 8-12 people of HA/AB, due to the trend of caller->focus fire play. When you get 20+ people on a team, it becomes a question of which team can mow down called targets faster.
The closest you're going to come is 12v12 alliance battles or 12-person Elite missions, most likely.

In regards to raid content: what would make it worthwhile? It takes a lot of effort to get 20+ people together, even more in a game that limits guilds to 100 people (although a few entities, such as XoO and AB, have worked around this). Would people really want to go through the trouble to get that number of people together just to kill some stuff?
Elite missions are 12 people, and it already takes a while to organize groups for them.
Also, given Guild Wars' combat system, raid groups become insanely difficult to function in - could you imagine trying to monk for a 20-40 person group?
Don't take me wrong, I'm not calling you an idiot, just bringing up things to consider.
Good point on the monk thing, that would be quite the pain. But I think that there are still enough people out there that would like to see something more. Maybe set up a huge epic battle that can only happen once a month or something along those lines. If that was done then you would easily be able to get a large group together to do the battle. You would need a few really good monks but I think you would find that they would be more than willing to do it. Although there would probably have to be some sort of reward to make people want to do it more than once. I haven't completely thought it through but maybe this will get the ball rolling.
