ok from the start i would like to say that this isn't my idea...
it actually comes from final fantasy 8 and 9.

but it was a lot of fun and can imagen it would fit perfectly in our comunity.
for those who don't remember the game i'll explain.... imagen:

**the idea is to have quick instant fun.this is a very simple but fun game**
**these games can take 3min or 10min.... not longer**

1 cards/within each expansion (+core game) of GW you can collect cards exclusive to that part.
cards will feature great pics of towns, characters, bosses, enemys, etc

there are many ways to obtain cards: quests, loot, speciale events, trade, win

there are 4 levels of cards.
1 being common blue
2 being uncommen purple
3 being rare gold
4 being ultra rare green

on the cards are 4 numbers from 0 to 10. every side of the card has this nr asigned to it and represents the power.

*so your deck grows and grows.

2 inviting/you can invite peeps to play with you as you would invite them in a group for hunting/questing.

*when accepted the game switches to the card game view.

3 game type/the 2 players decide the max level you can play with.
for example if you say gold lvl, then you can use blue, purple and gold cards... no greenies.
this feature will help beginners with lesser rare cards to still enjoy a game instead of an aswooping against the rarest of cards...

4 victory conditions/
if you decide to play for cards (as prize for winning):

a/ the winners takes 1 cards that the looser was playing with.
b/ you choose a card lvl and put 3 cards of that lvl in the prize bowl.
the winner can choose 2 cards from that bowl

5 playing/
*you get to choose a limited amount of cards from your deck...lets say 6
(these will be the cards you are gonna use to play with)

*player 1 his cards are blue-ish and player 2 his cards are red-ish. at random the player who will start is choosen.

*lets say that the red player starts.
he puts 1 red card in 1 of the 9 open spaces.
__________
l l l l
l___l___l___l
l l l l
l___l___l___l
l l l l
l___l___l___l

*blue player: his goal is to put a higher number against a side of the other guy's card.
when he's succesfull (for excample 10 l 3) the red cards turns blue.

result= now there are 2 blue cards in play.

6 victory/
*when all 9 spaces are filled with cards ... then the player with the most cards in his/her color wins. and may collect his prize if agreed.

hope you like the idea. any thoughts?

Loved the card game in FFVIII, hated it in IX.

I'm all for adding things to do, but I don't think GW is interested in creating 1v1 card matches.

I imagine it would require a lot of new code, too, as most new things seem to reuse existing areas, monsters etc. Probably not going to happen

I'd be all over a card game. I think I played the card game in xenosaga more than I used the combat engine. =)

Nice idea, but i would like it better if it wasnt copied from final fantasy 8.

I also find it a little annoying just about alot of games/anime/t.v shows have card games to them...

I really dont want that to happen to gw...unless they can make it somewhat intresting...

I KNOW I played Xenocard more than the main game. Got too easy after a while, though.

I would love a CTG In guild Wars, i have even been rating my brain trying to think of an implimentation within the Game Parameters. Without infringing on intellectual property

GW need something like this or something collectable to add something different to it. You wouuld always have something to do. The collectable thing will have to have alot of different varieties. from common to rare people would go out and collect them just to have them all. It could be a card game which you can play vs human or npc. Or cards that have monster stats and lore on them. People love to collect things and it would be fun to do to try and collect them all. But oh where oh where to store them? Maybe a binder that is in your inventory that you could open and they would be in order by number. Hmm fun times.

I think this is a great idea as well. And what game had something like this as well ... erm ... it's was by Bioware. Wasn't it Knights of the Old Republic? Where you could even buy cards from merchants and so forth? Anyway, the idea would be wicked and that could very well be a lot of fun. With events, trade shows and so forth there are even more possibilities for unique cards to be introduced.

tnx for the feedback guys.
i see that most peeps know where i'm coming from.

i know i just coppied the idea and integrated it with GW terms.
i just explained how it could be... not how it should be.

i would love it that they made up a unique playstyle.... maybe even multi-player based? (as long if it is instant fun)

But the main idea behind it is that something like this would raise the interest
of so many different style of gamers.

peeps how:
1/ love card games
2/ want to collect
3/ are bored
4/ always want to be the best (be it by having the rarest of cards
or the most wins behind his name)

and think of the what this could generate:
1/ chamionships
2/ special events
3/ trading (for other cards or gold)
4/ a town in pvp island where you can enter random mathes and trade

i love GW but somethimes i find myself... bored....
i finished both GW games.... i have the armor i want... i have the weapons i want.... so often i don't know what i should do.

I loved it in those games too..

Not 100% sure how it could be implimented in to GW but if they could find a way id love it.

Except in FF before i played a game with all my high cards id save the game so no one could steal my MOG!!

>panics<

Theres no save button in gw!!

I spent many many hours farming cards in FF8, though I didn't like the FF9 card game at all. Anyway, I'd love to see something like this implemented into GW.

The FF8 card game was great it really added to the game, also I seem to remember that some arena.net employees used to work for wizards of the coast so they could have some experience in that direction already. One suggestion would be to have traders that trade cards for gear which would help getting more people into it.

 Don't get your hopes up for a response. As you'll see there are many suggestions from a large number of fans and from what I've seen individual responses are reasonably rare.

Rest assured though, we know they do read these forums and with everything collected here in one place you can be reasonably sure that somebody has read it at least.
