I have found that one of the most irritating things in that you can never remember which character is holding something and logging out then back in to check each character can just be a pain.
How about have a button on the player select screen that can change the view from showig the selected character to showing the selected character's inventory and allow player to swap things between inventories straight from the character select screen.
This would make things a lot easier to manage.

What happens if they are in different cities, or continents? Not a bad idea, but I'm not sure that having transporter technology  is the answer.

That is a good idea, but another one might be to have on each character some amount like 5 slots to put items that may be accessed by each character on your account. These items could be accessed from any area so if you were in an explorable area and your pack runs out of room and you forgot your salvage kit you can just say "Oh hey, I put a salvage kit in one of my transferrable slots, I'll just grab it for a minute and use it" or something like that
A similar suggestion was to have the Xunlai agent provide access to all your character's inventories as well. (Via tabs or some other interface). While the thought of carrying an interdimensional rift on my back is a bit worrying this actually works quite well conceptually.

It would only be a small interdemensional rift:tongue:
I like the xunlai agent idea as well
Maybe combine the two since one is for explorable areas and the other for towns?
Hmm, maybe. I'm not sure you should be able to access storage from explorable areas, though. There's something said for going out of doors prepared

I like both the OP's suggestion and Katya's.
I think both would be a big help and can see the advantage of both. I would be happy with either if they where put into the game.

This would be an excellent idea. With 13 characters, it gets hard to keep track of where everything is.

There can be up to 26 characters per account...
But currently the game works so you can only load one of them and the data is accessed only after loading...
It would be really helpfull, true... but possible?
Grnf... I seriusly doubt it... would probably suppose a change too big to make it now.
very possible, just takes a bit time but it's far from impossible.
i think the best way to sorta "limit" it is by having only access trough the backpack, that way the system doesn't have to keep track to who has how much storage space.
That is a nice idea, I am all for that. Would be a great feature and make things a bit easier on us.
One idea I had sometime ago was:
As we have now, we have a number of extra tabs in storage. Would be great to have maybe 1 extra tab that instead of being a standard storage slot, it would be one which lists the inventory of the characters on your account. Maybe a divider between each character which above each would list the characters name.
-Some Char-
Inventory
-Some Char 2-
Inventory
Scrollable of course. Either way, would be great.

To keep things simple. Why not store a coded string of each characters inventory on the clients hard drive. This is already done with skill sets. These strings could be then read with an off line reader. Since this information is local nothing is sent back to the server. So there is nothing to hack. The programming of GW is complicated enough. Why add more overhead.
the server still needs to know what you have in your inventory, so you do have to send stuff back to the server.

I hope you don't mean that you just copy paste your intentory file and keep duping. :P
And about the OP's idea (and other give us x more storage without no drawbacks ideas (paying some gold isn't a drawback :P)), I don't like it.
I just don't find it right to ask more storage (almost same as asking for better drops, etc). Sure it's fine with good reasons but life shouldn't be too easy (you get more storage and after x months people ask more :P).

Not true. Your inventory is stored only on the server. Only a mirror of the servers copy would be stored on your computer.
