View Full Version : Cutscene status freeze (sugg)

I've been playing as a Minion Master Necromance since the release of Factions, and have come upon a dilemma:
If I want any of my minions to survive cutscenes, I have to skip them. But I like to watch them.

Or, since I try to be a conscientious player, if everyone requests that we skip cutscenes, I will usually do so, even if I haven't seen it before (though I often will go back with hench to watch them).

My suggestion, then:

All minions have their constant health degen NOT apply during cutscenes.

Or, if you prefer to go all the way:

All conditions/enchantments/health (de/re)gen effects/energy (de/re)gen effects are disabled during cutscenes. Their durations are paused as well, so if you stick Healing Breeze on someone 1 second before a cutscene begins, you'll still have 9 seconds remaining when you emerge at the end of the cutscene. Likewise with Conjure Phantasm, for example, so that it wouldn't kill you during the cutscene (though I admit that can be humorous at times).

This would make it possible to watch the cutscenes without fear of screwing up the strategy after the end of the cutscene, for those of us who actually like to see the storyline play out.

Ideally, having positive things still apply (ie, if you're at 60% health, you could regen to 100 during the cutscene, or your energy could refill if it was low), but that seems kinda lame to me.

Anyway, any thoughts? Any serious downsides I've missed, or other feedback? Sorry for the slight rambling.. :)

Downsides? It would be a pain in the booty to implement! :) I'd like to see this as well, but I'm not holding my breath. I've gotten caught with my Vampiric weapons equipped during long cutscenes and barely survived!

I am a complete zero when it comes to game development savvy, but I gotta wonder: is it truly such a pain in the booty for the devs to have time sorta freeze during cutscenes, so that those who like to enjoy watching the cutscene can do so without losing any enchantments or worse: having all their minions die on them?

Seems to me that it would not be all that hard, but hey, what do I really know about developing a game? Nothing.

... Worth Anet looking into though...

They could just make you completely invulnerable during cut scenes, and restore you to full as soon as the scene ends.

It may not be top priority to Anet, but it certainly is important as this is a persistant flaw which will arise in cutscenes over and over, something should be done.

I love watching cutscenes and usually I don't skip them even if the party asks it; though if there's monsters playing hack 'n slash on us or MM losing their minions, I might skip.

This is really unfair to those of us who actually pay attention to the story and especially those who are going through it for the first time, as we feel very pressured to skip the story parts or called noobs and having people ragequit afterwards.

Please Anet, hear our simple request. :flowers:

I think this suggestion is worth reviving since I just had a very frustrating time with Vizunah Square. I knew the cutscene death didn't count, but I had no idea you could be killed by minions that have become masterless because of that. Just reached lvl 2 survivor too T.T

ANET, Please make our characters invulnerable in cutscenes.

i fact it is easy, but they nead some time to code some extra code tab's for this.
if they make the dmg rate on FALSE during cinema's then you should have no problem with this, also, a delay of 5 seconds would be a good thing for situations when you're attacked durring cinema's...
