Alhough there are times I have wanted to target and butcher my own teammates, I would say this is a horrible idea give the instanced adventuring nature of the game. There are other MMORPG games where it is every man for himself and you can get attacked by anyone. Not fun for a 15th level character who keeps getting ambushed by level 6o characters.

I think we were talking about NPCs only here, which would not include player targetting. (Pretty hard to be monking anyway if you need to choose whether to kill or heal before allowing to take action. :P)
Although I'm not sure if I'd get much fun of randomly slaying helpless NPC peasants, we already have the Luxon/Kurzick alignment so why not good/evil in the later chapters...
Though I'd still love to be neutral.

I think the idea here is to play a chapter or content as a villan instead of a "Hero". I think this is a great idea.... sort of, right now we can use our characters in any of the previous missions, it would be kind of wierd if you were to play the hero in one chapter and the villan in the next. You can't go outside and slay newbies because all areas are instanced based, meaning those newbies will be in their own instance.
I think Factions already brings a sort of "sides" to the gameplay, you can play as the ruthless survivalist, Luxons, or the overly moderate sensitive spirit watchers, Kuzicks. They don't exactly have a good and evil side, one is rather barbarian and one is overly panzy, but you still play as the hero.
Reguardless, it would definetly make for some enjoyable story content, so I would appreciate if they could make some sort of "Evil" role in a future chapter.
Better than being Evil, it would be nice to play as some demi-humans fighting against the Humans and such, The Char invasion from the Chars point of view.
I think it would be awesome to do something like bahamut said, the Char invasion from their point of view. Maybe have a little back story telling why they decided to invade and then boom, you can play as a char.

I say there should be an evil god like in runescape. Then again that game did get boring....really fast...
