The thing I like least in game is looking for people to go on specific quests, or group forming before missions. The thing I like most is going on missions and playing.

This enhancement could work for PvP or PvE, and I think it would enhance the game tremendously.

An idea to implement automatic group forming:

Person A has to complete quest X, so he has it actively selected in his quest log (or he has nothing selected in his quest log and is interested in going on the current mission or entering an arena battle - this is the default for these areas). He has a "Join group for X" button he can press.

Person A clicks the Join group for quest/mission/battle X option. For each free character slot in the group, he can select the primary character type he wants to fill each slot. The default here would be (no preference), and any character type could fill the slot.

Person B comes along in the same town/district with the same quest selected, or interested in joining the same battle/mission, so he does the same Join group proceedure.

If person B matches person A's requirements, they are auto-grouped.

Person A at this point is the group leader and can decide when the group is full.

Have a party of 5 people with one slot free and want a monk? Set the free party slot to type Monk. It would be nice if there were options to be as general or specific as possible.

The key here, is the user has to be able to tell the server which quest/mission/battle he is interested in doing (via the quest log selection or being in a specific area), then the auto-grouping options will work.

You would still be able to add people to your group manually. You and your guild buddy want to do a mission? Fine, add each other to the group by name, then the group leader attempts to form a party based on character class, or opens the group to anyone willing to go out on the mission.

Are you a wicked healer feeling sorry for those poor parties stuck with Alesia? When someone goes to add the henchman, it could say: "Are you sure you want Alesia? Person B with skillset (Healing) is in the area and wants to the quest X"

You could also form parties with no particular destination in mind.. for people who want to go out exploring or farming, whatever. Select nothing in the quest log, form group for X would be (open), another option.

This would eliminate constant LFG and GLF spam.

How cool would it be if for each quest in the quest log, you saw a list of the current players in your area/district who were actively wanting to go on the same quest?

I know it's a rough idea, but imagine how much more time you would spend playing PvE or PvP in a satisfying way.

Then you could click their names and add them to your group. That person would then be able to accept or deny. The request would tell you: Person B (E/Mo) wants to join you on quest X.

Just another idea. It should eliminate sitting in town for 20 minutes and spamming that you're looking for a group every 30 seconds, then having to type: sure, I'll go with you..

As a side note, if any AreaNet developers reads this, please privately message me and let me know that you seriously read these forums and I am not just wasting my time. It would also be cool to get an idea as to how long it typically takes enhancement requests to make it into the game.

I work for a large software house (not gaming - but not going to mention names) and I know how things work in the corporate development cycle. I'm curious about Guild Wars development cycle in particular. I've only been involved with the game for a week, but I'd like to help out in any way I can.

Another side note, for everyone who complains about having to spend real world $$$$ for improvements to the interface/game:

This game is top notch quality and it takes years of programmer time to develop and refine code. You can't spend years of programmer time maintaining code and expect it to be released for free.

I know additional storage costs extra $$, but what else do you get for the price? Is it worth it to you?? You should just expect that what you have now, will be fixed if it is broken (i.e. does it crash on currently supported video card, does some quest break during a certain condition, minor changes to game play).

You must remember that all software has a life-cycle. After which time, it will no longer be supported. You are expected to pay for the maintenance costs associated with current product and future development. If that doesn't happen, then the software ceases to exist.

Send all flames to /dev/null.
