I'm actually using names of famous Dervish leaders and artists. They work out good.

The dervish faith was founded by founders of Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi after his death. Sheikh Ghalib and Ismail Ankaravi were musicians. Jalal Rumi would be a good name too. I already reserved one for myself, but there are lots of other ones. I dunno, I've been making the names of my latest chars more authentic (My ranger's name is Elvish and my Monk's name is a mixture of burma monk/nun surnames.)

Just a quick note, you guys know that "Dervish's " names are Arabic,Persian and Turkish in origin.

My uncle is a "Dervish ascetic" in real life and they end up having name changes in order to keep with tradition (non germanic,english,Irish,french etc..etc).

I am putting this out there for those that RP in guild wars like I do in the hopes that I will see those honoring the tradition of the "Dervish" and the "real religion" that they represent (Islam).

It's sort of ironic for me, since Shadow Reapr would have been perfect for the Dervish fella'. I could always go for Umbra Messorius, the latin equivalent, but I dunno.

Another thing I might do is do "Avatar of the Grey", in keeping with my guild-theme. But I decided I'd only do 'of the Grey''s for truly secondary character. Choices, choices.

I could go for "Snakes on a ******-******* Desert!", but it might be disallowed, for either length, swearing or use of asterisks.

I been meaning to say this for a while, and I think I am gonna say it now: aren't you guys at all concerned that some of these original names you thought of (I am not talking here about any typical name with "reaper" in it) and posted here are going to get stolen? That someone else will see that name and think: wow - I like that! I am gonna try to create a character with that name before he/she does...

I would never post any of my character name ideas here before my character was actually created...

Same here, I just thrown out names that are titles for "real life" dervishes but I absolutely will not put my character's name that I have planned on the forums for all eyeballs to see (some people think it's easier to steal a name than create their own).

Role players, I know are really name conscience (at least I am) and will create a name that a real life person would carry (not as much as titles that people are picking for names).

I had 2 of my characters names stolen in WOW and Star Wars Galaxies and don't feel, I should post anymore to be stolen due to laziness and lack of creativity on others behalf.

Jeepers Reapers does have a funny ring to it. Not quite sure I'd be able to play a character called that; but it certainly brought a smile to my face!

I'm still stuck without a name for my Dervish. Think I'm going to have to hit ye ole Google for some African / Egyptian / Middle Eastern mythology to borrow from while I try to come up with a concept.

There's a thread on the Lounge about finding good names too! I would link to it but that might cause a recursive linkage which might fry my brain.

I think I am with you on that: You know that name that just ... BAM!! ... hits you, and you know you will never do better? THAT name I would never share until reserved. But all those names that are almost good enough: Eh, toss them out there to feed the fire, and keep the creative juices flowing.
