View Full Version : Nightfall "Offscreen" Screenshot (architecture)
Hrm, well, did it for creatures - let's have a brief go at architecture too while I'm at it (and over caffeinated).
Someone else noted a very familiar looking piece in here, do you see it too? Because I can guarantee the lot of you have most likely run into it, stood on it, went afk by it before.

Shoddy quality here:

Your idea is as good as mine.

The fountain in the first screenshot is the same style as the one found in Lion's Arch.
Haha, couldn't they design another one?

Bingo! Another forum member had to point it out to me. Good eyes mate.

Two possible reasons:
1) That fountain is only a placeholder; or
2) The fountain in Lion's Arch was designed by the Elona's and when the Ascalon colonizers landed on that part of Tyria, they decided to found the city of Lion's Arch around that fountain, and thus we see the fountain inside Lion's Arch.
BUT, remember Gaile saying that she "sees a fountain of interest"?? ;)
No, but i'll take your word for it. I was thinking it might've been some sort of gift, sorta like that big statue thingy in NY, the name escapes me for the moment. I'm sure that was a gift from the French, but quite possibly im wrong.

That would be the "Statue of Liberty", and yes, it was a gift from the french, just as it is said the plans for the Eiffel tower came from America.
IK'll say one thing - the third building appears to be much like depictions of the god Horus found throughout egypt. Interesting.

Horus was a falcon-headed god. Is that windmill a falcon or an eagle? All birds look alike to me.

That is also possible. But we don't have records of the Ascalonians or Kryta ever meeting with the Elonans or Elonians ;) so it couldn't be a gift for the Tyrian residents :)

Definitely looks like a falcon to me. I wonder what that building is, though...

No, that fountain is a spaceship.
Or maybe a cover-up, there is something underneath it, a secret base of sorts.
On-Topic:
Yes, its a Falcon, according to the bird-nerd ( :P ) beside me.

Don't make comments like that again. I don't want people taking potshots at the various Factions as that's also attacking people's opinion, which is against the Lore Forums rules. Don't drag things off topic.

Maybe Lions Arch is built upon the ruins of an old Elonian colony? Maybe it was a peace offering from the Elonians after the Guild Wars ended?
Maybe a Krytan sailed down Elona and was fascinated by the fountain that brought fresh water right in the center of town.

One architect could have designed both cities or the same society of architects could have done it. Or someone inspired by whichever was the original. Or they were both given out.
There's hundreds of explanations for the same fountains let's not go into great detail on it.

That falcon-headed "windmill" if I remember correctly is actually a boat. One heckuva a huge boat at that. <--This is wrong, but to avoid confusion from being quoted it's back.
Anyway,I think that town with the fountain in it was a main town because some of the other places shown look, compared to that, really primitive.

Like I said in my edited post,I was wrong,it's just a windmill.
that is one funky windmill indeed :)
I wonder if that city (probably the Elonian capital) will be shown in daylight (like in the first pic) or night (like in the second pic)?
In daylight it looks like a vacation resort, very comfy
On the other hand at night it looks really mysterious..
I like the night look more I think XD

That would be interesting to have another spieces of Tengu in Elonia. Maybe they could possible settlers from their Canthan counter parts.

hmm or maybe they made the falcon/eagle head just to prevent evil spirits from the evil god to harm them. It must be something that scares.. I wouldn't construct a windmill with a falcon/eagle head jsut for fun if I was an Elonian ^^
