is it possible that the river elon is the same river that once ran thourght the crystal desert, if it is then it could have some MAJOR lore implications as to how and why the elonians(is that the correct spelling?) came to try to ascend.

Bit of a big and premature assumption to make. There simply is no evidence right now without having access to some sort of map of Elona.

Although we can tak it that the shores and the river mouth will be the richer, more eloboratly lush areas whereas inshore will be more functional with only the odd spot of grandeur (basic coast hypothosis)

Yeah, that's generally how civilizations built around rivers are.

It's very possible, the scribe issue #9 says that Elona borders the crystal desert.

emm it just came to me that in ancient egypt the river used to flood .. does thirsty river ALSO has to do something with this? i mean if its thirsty river it floods because she wants to drink or something XD but it also means desperate hmmm
I hope part of the Crystal desert from the Chapter 1 map becomes uncovered as part of the map for Chapter 3. But the devs probably will start on land not yet mapped as seen in Chapter 2. On this, I am guessing that any any part of the Crystal Desert that might brush against Elona will already be out of Chapter 1's map boundaries. Have to wait on the map in the end though.
I hope Anet has another Backstage Pass party so someone can "resource" a picture of the new map ^^.
As far as the river spoken of. I have seen many signs of river erosian along the route from Destinys Gorge to Thirsty. But maybe that is just a small branch off of what might have been a bigger river nearby.

It could be that thirsty river was part of Elon, before crystal desert dried up.
We can tell once we have the map I believe.

Yes, it was said that the Elonians sailed to the Crystal Desert, yet judging from the distribution of their outposts, I don't think they came in through Amnoon like the Margonites, whose buildings are generally closer to Amnoon.
So, for now, I think theorizing that the Thristy River may be a dead branch of the Elon may really be a plausible hypothesis. Until Nightfall, we have no way of telling for sure though.

That sounds right. Must be a really dead branch though.
Elona borders the Crystal Desert, and since the civilization (or at least one of the areas) is dependant on the river Elon for survival, the two match up.
Does anyone have a map over view of the Thirsty River and adjacent areas?

Perhaps its possible a dam was built and dried up in the crystal desert
We know it once had alot of water and if I remember right, the gods got rid of it all...
