for the sake of discussion, we're going to assume the clues are accurate, and Dhumm is the villain fo this story. that said, i was taking a look at some of the history, and pieced together a possibility. the envoy's say that they can no longer allow shiro to "upset the balance" anymore. perhaps it was the return of a half-envoy that presented the opprotunity for dhumm to escape his prison, but where to begin his coup? he'd need an army, and those pesky zaishen would no doubt come to the resuce. and let us not forget and outward move would show his hand to grenth. then, the solution presented itself through elonia.
a nation, once the most powerful of any, decimated by time and it's own raw power. such a nation would of course be easily tempted to fight for you, willingly becoming your army, with the right assertion. of course some would resist, but they too could be quelled. the gods would see it as mortals being mortals, and allow it until your army was ready, when you could take this plane in a sheer show of force. but still, you have those pesky zaishen! perfect, the main chunk of tyria is so enthralled by war, they can barely sustain themselves, so there is the perfect place for a distraction! knowing full well only a handful of heroes could dare face what forces you still control, and fewer still can be spared from their homelands, and the chaos shiro is causing in cantha, attack there. launch an assault against the hall of heroes, let your forces run rampant there, and watch the zaishen run to the challenge. distracted there by inconquerable odds, you're free to play shadow in elonia.
free until the sunsets. free until the night falls.
at least it's a theory! and it corelates the chapters together, while being able to happen simultaneously!
