Essentially... Heroes' Ascent is a tournament PvP arena, with organized teams of 8 players, consisting of a progression of maps, winning one allows you to move on to a higher map in the sequence. The final map is the Hall of Heroes, winning the Hall allows you to open a chest which drops Celestial Sigils and other items.

Sounds like you rather want to buy it. :P
It shouldn't be too difficult to gather 10 platinum, especially if you get help from your other guildies.

Judging by your attitude and knowledge of the game, it would be much more convenient to buy it, because you're probably not going to win. Do you have a lvl20 ascended character? If not, you're not going to find a group unless you use a pvp char and have pvp experience.

Put it this way. Unless you get outrageously lucky, you're at least a month away from being able to get in a group that can *reliably* get to the HoH, let alone take it.
Sure, you could win off a halls skip with an unranked PuG on your first try. But really the odds are stacked against you and it owuld be much easier to PvE farm the cash.
If you really want to do the tournament route, go to Random arenas, win five in a row, this will unlock team arenas. Then find a team, win five in a row which will unlock HA.
From here you start the progression to the Hall of Heroes (where winning gives Sigils). You'll need a team of eight people and it will be really tough. You're going to lose on the Underworld (the first map) a lot of times, unless you get some nice ranked/guild group to take you along. Slowly you'll improve and get better groups/find friends and then you'll eventually start regularly getting to the Hall and then eventually you'll start winning it.
But give yourself a few months to do it.

First of, the teams nowadays who hold the halls, as in Guilds, with how you're typing and your attitude suggests, you'd probably not get anywhere unless with a lucky skip to HoH. Secondly, if you require a hall so bad, then why not get the Guild members to pay a fee, so you'll have your 10k.
10 members x 1k each = 10k
20 members x 500g each = 10k
And so on. I know you'll see random PuG's etc, or just names winning the halls etc, but trust me, you'll probably not even get good Morale on the NPC battle and get dominated by IWAY or something in your first game.

I think the answers here are already too focussed in describing the mechanism of HA
To the OP :
Chances are that you will get 10 plat MUCH more easily than to get a sigil through a win in HA.
Heroes Ascent is a permanent tournament where teams of 8 can enter at any time. The idea is that you need to defeat teams after team until you reach the top map of the tournament, the Hall of Heroes. Only winning the Hall will get you a sigil.
The problem is that everybody can play in this tournament, beginers and very experienced players. As a result, the level of skill needed in that tournament is high. There will be teams with an organized build and strategy, voice chat,... As a beginner, you have next to no chance to win this tournament for a long time as you will inevitably be facing experienced teams that will shred you into pieces.
It requires effort, patience and lots of training.
Gathering 10 platinium in the game, on the other hand, is a matter of an hour if you farm seriously.

The names that you see winning halls aren't just random pugs. It's either guild groups or people who formed a group from their friends list.
The names that you see winning halls aren't just random pugs. It's either guild groups or people who formed a group from their friends list.
As my good friend Zieg has said and as random as it may seem, a pug with some rk6+ players who play together a lot of times can take out pretty much anything on any good day.
My suggestions to OP:
1. Listen.
2. Be humble and learn.
3. You will find sigils much easily in other ways.
4. Winning halls DOES NOT guarantee you a sigil. If a sigil really drops it will go to one of the 8 players in your team. So, I have to reiterate my suggestion number 3.
To Mods:
This is a GvG section, right?
Take care,

Truthfully - this did start as a guild discussion, but it really does belong in HA. You may get some more expirenced HAers helping out.

There are several other threads about HA in the builds/guides section as well.

ok then anysuggestions into making 10k!?
I'd suggest you start by actually putting in some effort. Both in-game, and in actually reading or searching the forums.
