I was playing some AB the other day and we were in Grenz Frontier and I was staring at one of the Kurzick control points and I couldn't help feeling that something about it was familiar so I took a screenshot:

Where had I seen that before? Then later that evening I watched the Nightfall In-Game Cinematic like I always do every couple of days and there it was, in Elona! If you have the cinematic or screencaps from it, at time index 0:51, you can see the same tower behind the dervish.

Yes. Its on the right side of the female dervish at 0:51

Interesting. Can't wait to have full acess to scout this stuff out closer. From the bumps on the tiny structure, it looks like there are even vines o.O.

It's too early to tell if that is part of the game or is a "placeholder" graphic, like the henchman skins. Guess we have to wait and see.

it would really suck if they were simply reusing skins but aren't there threads speculating that the Kurzicks were decendants of the Elonians or Margonites? this would seem to support that, and if it was just a reused skin isn't it a pretty big coincidence that they would use it at this particular place, and the pillars aren't just similar, they're identical

Like I said, we just have to wait and see. I'm not suggesting they are reusing skins, I'm suggesting that those early videos are simply "beta", and things will change from them to the final release.

just to follow-up has anyone found those ruins since the release of Nightfall?

I think they are located in the Sunspear Sanctuary.

Indeed they are. It appears they were not just a beta place holder, and may indeed have some significance, especially considering the location.

oh woot can't wait till my Nightfall order arrives, then I'll try some investigating on my own

Well, the placement of the architecture along with the purpose of them in the Sunspear Sanctuary got me to thinking. We know that these are placed here as "sacred" wells, and the area was originally made to redirect and hold the Elon. Also, one must take into account the highly devout nature of Elonian religion, and their almost fanatical devoution to the "Five True Gods".

Now, look at the Kurzicks. They also have a fanatical devoution to the gods in a very similar manner to the Elonians, and also have a strong connection to nature. Is is possible that in the dim annels of history, the Kurzicks were a derivative of the proto-Elonians, or vis versa? We know the Kurzicks are not from Cantha, but their homeland has never been revealed.

The only flaw I see in this theory is the fact that the Kurzicks have a strong Germanic undertone, which does not seem to fit in any way shape or form in a North African setting. Perhaps the Kurzicks were just consulted during the project.

The description for Altrumm Ruins would fit well here - That the Kurzicks claim thier ancestors did not build those structures, but the ruins heavily influenced Kurzick architecture. Could it be possible that the civilsation that build Altrumm Ruins is somehow linked to the Margonnites / Early Elonians?

If, as suspected, the Margonites are a Luxon off-shoot then it would be a pretty nice twist for the Kurzicks to be related to ancient Elonians. Sort of gives the little Canthan squabble an ancient beginning.

Taose ruins are pretty much a generic arched stone shape, it's likely they were just stuck in nightfall to seem "ruinish".

Take a closer look, it's not the just design which is same, they even have the same symbols and everything, that strikes me as a little more than generic

I'm still guessing it's most likely a shape that the art designers repeated since it would fit well with both areas, without any other reason, but for a lore explanation it seems like it could be related to some ancient melandru worshippers, who perhaps would settle more heavily in the echovald forest, since echovald forest would have been a more life filled forest before the jade wind. If the designers decide this is the case, I'd expect that if any explorable melandru realm comes along, we'd see this type of architecture there as well.

I don't think it's just that they were using the same exact design in two places, with the level of depth in lore throughout all the chapters I find it extremely hard to believe they would slip up like that

Those engravings are Kurzick Saints. I don't think they'd be reused by anyone but Kurzicks.

Don't forget the manual gives us a substantial amount of time for when the Kurzicks first met the empire. Considering they went for arid deserts and plains, to lush and verdant forests it's not suprising their culture changed; not to mention real world cultures have changed far more in that time as well.

after finally reaching the Sunspear Sanctuary and seeing these arches for myself one thing I noticed immediately is the colour, the arches in the Sanctuary look a lot newer than the Kurzick ones, or perhaps they were simply made with a different material

The sunspear sanctuary is also lit differently than the petrified forest, which could change the color.

I still think they are just repeats to save time, most people will not pay enough attention to see whether the arches are exactly the same, and they do fit well over the wells and look religious enough to fit in with a place like that.

By now the devs should know their comunity pays attention to those kind of things....but if they still dont know well lets tell them..

YOUR COMUNITY DOES PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS!!! THATS WHY WE LOVE THE LORE!!!!!
