Where or what is Eredon? Seems this is the lore section, I thought someone might know.

Probably a cultural mythos, like King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table seeking various artifacts of questionable validity. (We aren't sure they or the artifacts in their stories even existed.)

For a start King Arthur was a fable made by a French writer a loooong time ago, which was -very- loosely based on a Romano-British tribal king probably called 'Artorius'.

I dont think it is a mythic location by the way the the character phrases its speach. Just as likely that it is an actual place in the Guild Wars universe, if not exsisting, with potential to exsist, just like Elona before Factions.

Its like me saying "Zenos himself, has remained elusive like the monster of Loch Ness."

Loch Ness exsists, why not Eredon?

I don't know if you've ever read the book Don Quixote, but many of the characters speak of mythological locations and events as if they were really true, without being able to distinguish what is truth and what is fiction. As the Innkeeper puts it, "The Spanish Crown would not allow such things to be published if they were not truth!" In a society such as Tyria, before things like widespread scientific application or deductive research, cultural legends would often be taken as the absolute truth.

That said, it is possible that these mythical things exist and it is more than just a story. Afterall, it is still a fantasy game.

I still do not see how you arrive at the assumption Eredon is a myth, the location is only mentioned once and not in a mythic context either. It is not like a legendary story was written, just some character mentioning it in conversation.

The character implied the creature was fabled, not the location. ;)

Either way I like it how small things like that expand the lore.

Also Don Quixote is not my thing, I prefer literature like The Nibelungenlied, Beowulf, The Odyssey/Iliad etc. I prefer historic legends to more contemporary pieces.

The Eredon Jade Smasher is a large device build by the Luxons that has a village built around it.

Erm...That's not what the OP was talking about Santax. He/she was talking about the spike-backed seven-finned hopping fish of Eredon.

Maybe the fish (possibly some huge myth-inspiring creature, like Moby Dick) was trapped in the Jade Sea, like the Leviathans, yet still exists in legend. And lived off the coast of Eredon Terrace.

Just remember, the massive black centipede creatures encased in Jade in Rhea's Crater are Leviathans. I believe there's at least 2.

Reading that, I figured the guy was talking about one of the random monsters in the Jade Sea (which are all rather like sea creatures). If there's an Eredon Terrace, then perhaps Eredon is the name of the greater area or something.

Old long arms (Zhu Hanaku) perhaps?
