Found the above in News section. Thought it looked interesting, thought it was a possible image for that mad ruler lady (on a sidenote of humor: any chance that ruler has a tie-in to the Mad King? *cough* yeah, ok, stretching it a bit but like i said - i meant for it to be funny). I realize that not all images have any relation to plot/storyline - but she does look rather cool in my opinion.

Thoughts?

shes also on the collectors edition box so im guessing she has some kind of importance

also the reviews say the mad ruler is a SHE so im gona go out on a limb and say it is coz she looks like the egyption pharos( no idea how its spelt lol!) did and she also is seen in armour on the collectors cover

Haha, when I saw the title of this thread, my head almost exploded, but then I saw it was just Pei being ridiculous, so I calmed down.

One of the Pre-Order pack pictures, depicts a person with arms raised to the sky in front of one of the very evil looking statues/characters/gods. The person in that drawing is wearing purple and appears to have a large gold fan shape behind her head. Perhaps, she intends on calling forth this forgotten god? Is that why she's a mad ruler?

Have I spotted a plot giveaway before the game is even ready...

This gives more credibility to the idea that it is Varesh Ossa whom is the Corrupt Ruler, if she bows before questionable things best left forgotten. And others have indicated that the lady with the purple dress and goldfan neck-armor indeed is Varesh herself.

And for why? We already have the motive, she desires Ascension like her forefather. And if an Outcast God happens to offer his own brand of Ascension - since the five gods have turned their back on Tyria, then we have a damning deal in the making. It just takes some smooth, convincing words.....

It would be ironic if she doesn't truly understand what Ascension means, to get closer to the gods and gain true sight. Instead becomming darkened by false promises, and a twisted version of the idea of Ascending.

Hmm, Ascension mission, getting closer to the gods... Makes me think that it is here you have to defeat the Avatars of the Five Gods, and where Dervishes can cap the Avatar forms. If Varesh is cahoots with the Outcast God, then we can probably expect to see her use a special elite like Avatar of Abbadon? But that one will probably remain a monster skill to be uncappable, or a cutscene interupts.

Perhaps a mod should merge this thread with the Corrupt Ruler thread, as both are about the Warmarshall.

That girl appears in the demo displayed at Germany, as a NPC allied with us - apparently she's Varesh, one of Nightfall's main NPCs, and the one we will get a mini pet of in the Nightfall CE. She's also the girl in the cover of the CE.

Now there's something that never even crossed my mind - that Varesh could be an allied NPC (in lieu of the opponent we all seem so keen on thrashin'). Blargh, is it Friday yet?!? This suspense thing is frying my already overdosed-on-caffeine brain. (BTW, credit and thanks to Erasculio in the aforementioned forum for the info.)

To me, the evidence appears to support that Varesh, like her father, will be the main person fighting againt the corruption. I think we aren't giving her enough credit. She comes from a very noble and distinguished bloodline, and I don't think she'd just turn to some evil god just like that.

Also, we never saw an image of the Vizier or Shiro until in-game cinematics or preview videos, and Shiro was clearly evil in that. So far as I know, the villian was never featured on box art or promotional pictures.

Nice point(s). Kind of relieved in regard to it as well. I mean she does, after all, have a rather saucy expression. (But let's hope she's not as lippy as Cynn, though even that was charming in and of itself.)

But Varesh says "I will do everything to save my people!"

Maybe even make a deal with the devil - IMO.

Interesting note about that timer, it is based off your system clock (set the day one day ahead, and the timer goes down one day) but in reference to GMT (change time zone and therefor current time and the timer doens't change).

Edit: and why is the US site so much worse then the EURO site... they have better/more pictures, and a much better layout! There is a list of recent updates, and a direct link to the current guild of the week.... so much better. Why are there even 2 GW sites in english, why isn't the US one the same as the Euro one?

Just as Annakin Skywalker was fighting to save Padmé? The plot thickens...perhaps she starts out good, and just makes a wrong turn, never intending for anything bad to happen. Or maybe Morghan is the bad person, he seems to want to argue with her...

In regards to Morgahn, he is listed as a Hero you can choose for your party to help him right the wrongs of Kourna. Which does imply he have some legitimate grievances.

It looks to me that Morgahn manages to annoy the saucy Varesh as he tries to steer her away from the course she ends choosing for Kourna, so she throws him out on his behind and he flees to the Sunspears for protection.
