The Tattooed Scimitar and Watercrest Wand seem especially nice. Looks like my characters will be buying new gear come the end of October.

Ok, based on the discription above, it appears that the inscription appears identical to those in chapter 1 or 2. This could mean one of two things, either the ability to salvage inscriptions is universal, or they haven't made a change in the weapons for Nightfall yet. Anyone tried to salvage one yet?

Now all we need is them added to the GWO wiki so that we don't lose them due to over BW usage and past a certain time the images disappear typical of image hosting. Personally I'd like to see stuff like that added with a thread for discussion linking to the section. That way someone doesn't have to do a whole buch of work to transfer the info from the forum to it :smiley:
I'd rather not add these items to the wiki just yet, since item names (and even existance of a specific skin) can change from WPE to release. I will start working on them once Nightfall is out though (yes, I'm going to finish the existing pages I started as well :wink:)

Just two points: that 'wooden longbow' is just the usual ascalon collector bow renamed, and the 'stoneshard hornbow' is the well known 'fleshy hornbow', this time with an official name from Anet.

Actually, if you look closely the Wooden Longbow skin is slightly different- there are two white bits by the grip that aren't on Tyrian or Canthan bows.

Yes, the Stoneshard Hornbow is just the fleshbow renamed, which is why I didn't include it. Another reused skin is the Yakslapper, now the Sacred Staff.

That isn't a new skin-it was available in Factions as a rare skin(and was also the skin of "The Ugly Stick" green item).

Also, that wooden longbow is NOT different from the Tyrian one...I just checked my Tyrian characters with the Ascalon bow...the white is there if you look closely.

I cannot post pictures, but here are some more names to be going on :

Avian Axe - Simple axe but with added detail.
Dual Winged Axe - Similar shape to Grinning Dragon, but much bigger.
Ivory Hammer - A very unique shape it must be said.
Sharktooth Shield ( Warrior ) - Triangular, beige, organic, very 3 dimensional.

Caged Shortbow - Appears to be inside a mesh cage.

Eagle Defender ( Paragon ) - Excellent Native American art on a wooden shield.
Goldleaf Defender ( Paragon ) - Actually just a gold shield and not leaf-like at all.

It is dyed, the undyed version has a gold/yellowish haft.

i can't wait until nightfall is out so I can take the time to marvel at how the items that drop look. I junked everything at the mrchant for the preview unless it was better stats that the items equiped on the heroes or me.

I'm finding myself more and more unhappy with some of the weapon skins.

Oh, the textures and shapes are lovely, don't get me wrong... But the business ends are getting so massively outsized as to really bug me. The weapon skins are going "Everquest" on us. Take a look at some of those axes and hammers, for instance. Most people wouldn't even be able to lift the Ivory or Stonehead hammers, much less wield them. Likewise for, say, the Crude Axe or the Hawkeye Hammer. And the Iron Hammer..? :shocked: A hunk of iron that size would weigh between forty five and sixty pounds!

The Fellblade was bad enough... But now, with the grotesquely outsized heads on inherently unbalanced weapons (go ahead, pick up an axe, maul, or other large hammer, and try it - they're unbalanced. It's their nature - it's what makes them so useful!), I simply boggle.

The spears were mostly gotten right. The scythes are more-or-less right, if extremely (and attractively) fanciful. The swords are outsized to the point of unrealism, but only if you know something about swords. But the hammers and axes have become things that only the Hulk could wield. I love the shapes. I love the designs - they're truly beautiful in some cases, in others, they're intriguing rather than beautiful, but they're all lovingly done.
And massively out-sized.

It is fantasy dude and I'll be damned if my warrior can't lift at least a ton!!!!!!! Fudge with the right spells my ele could lift it easily or even get some magic imbued gauntlets.

But there is fantasy, and then there's absurdity. I don't mind (if you'll note above, IRT swords and scythes) fantasy. It's absurdity that bugs me.

The hammers and axes have gone beyond 'fantastic,' and are racing towards 'absurd' at a break-neck pace.

Agreed, though some of the Factions equipment were fine. The Gothic Sword looks usable and, in my opinion, awesome.

I noticed a lot of reused Prophecies items as well, got a sephis axe and Fiery Flame sword yesterday.

I got a sword that I haven't seen listed here but i sold it, it was red-brown I think and it looked rather odd.

There seems to be a number of items flaged to drop in any campaign. I for one like the variety and it would seem that the new salvage and inscription etc type stuff is really going to improve non grinders ability to get gear the wany they want it.

That's exactly what it reminded me of, a Jesus-Fish sword. Maybe you can also find one that has two little spikes for feet and says "Darwin" in it!

Thanks, although I haven't even looked at weapons since beta (other than for personal purchases). Other than actually playing the game, my only other main side project has been the armor guide. So don't expect a big ol' new items compilation like I usually do :wink:

Not saying people shouldn't be using this thread submit shots of new items, that's fine- I just don't want to give the impression that this is an actual weapons guide (beyond the compilation I did during the WPE, which is somewhere in here a few posts back.)

Have a bit of faith in my Scutilla. I can read the dates of posts =P I looked over the guide, and I feel the input from you and from the community makes it a great resource for players, especially those looking to collect skins or that are curious as to the look of different weapons.

I personally love the fact that the Fiery Gladius is actually a gladius, not that awful hilted short sword that they call a gladius in Prophecies.

i don't have alot of pics yet but there are a lot of multi skinned items it seems like 3 is the magic number such as the Elonian blade and daggers and Ancient Scythe plus i have not seen any elemental blades either

Honestly I think that sword is a little weird looking. I looks way too much like those fish things people stick on the back of their cars. I'm glad they didn't weird out on most of the items. I have seen many of the ones already posted and/or added to GWOs wiki section. For me though I typically don't take the time to look at each drop to see what it looks like in game. I'd love to see the remaining skins added to the wiki section. I often wonder how many different skins there are and how many of those we have in the gallery.

Yes and a twist on a similar symbol having something to do with evolution and why I say weird fish things. Its certainly not a fundamental holy reverence thing like the crucifix is to catholicism. But anyways I probably shouldn't go farther on that since even though the thread is more or less quiet i probably shouldn't delve to deep in OT talk. :wink:

I don't know if you can get them anywhere but i have gotten several less than max dmg ones in drops. I accidentally sold one that was one off from max thinking it was the non fiery version. It was white though so no inscription slot :( I was rather hoping that even white items would have them but as long as blue max dmg ones are decent enough to get it doesn't matter much.

Nice, the silverboar scepters look nice dyed, rather than the default brown. I should try and dye mine.

ok that could explain why i died so many times wth low level armour and holding that deathbringer... wile fighting avatar of Balthzar

lol sometimes if u have those scythes you could pretend that its a green (not by selling it obviously) ummm maybe they could have a feint glow or something to indentify them as a green to other players

also I wish i could (and i know you can't) inscribe my Shezel's reaper green with the inscription (if there was one) 'Have a nice day' with an armour penetreation of +20. wishful thinking.. but then that would probably degrade it from a green if it did
