Is this true?

Has anyone from Anet even confirmed this? I know opinions are divided, but I was looking forward to the game guide...:embarassed:
I haven't seen any official statement, could be a WoW fanboy spreading a rumour on that board.

My apologies, I thought it only applied to competing websites. Mea Culpa.

I didn't get to see the link obviously, so don't know the context of that linked thread, however, if my guesses are right, was the topic about Prima cancelling the guide? If so, then I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Anet/PlayNC were taking the responsibility of making their guide, ie just like what they did with the Factions Guide.
Is this still the case?

I saw a thread at the Prima forums (very bare they are too) which had a moderator from their end saying that Prima will not be doing the guide this time round.
There was a bit of 'but I've preordered it' and stuff but it looks like it is not them.

Something is going on. Prima was going to release a nightfall game guide, but then cancelled it. There are too many reliable places that were taking orders for it, plus it has an ISBN number, so it was planned for release.
Somewhere around the forums here, Gaile Gray posted that ANet never 'officially' announced the release of a game guide. So I would say that ANet pulled their support from Prima's guide. :undecided:
The prima prophecy guide was much better than the one ANet did for factions.

Yeah, I have heard that credit for the lousy Factions guide goes to ANet, not Prima. If this is true, then I apologize to Prima. ANet should leave the guides to them, and stick to making games.

Shame, l really enjoyed the guides for Prophecies and Factions.
Maybe one will get released later?
I suppose. Having only purchased a WoW Guidebook in my life, are the Guild Wars one worth anything? Do they have more information than you would find on say, GWOnline.net?

katya...how could you ask such a thing! :)
THIS is the best resource a guildy could possible want.
What guide can answer the questions that have been answered on these very forums...show every class/armour/weapon/colour combo....hints and tips fo every quest/class/build going...and all provided by friendly helpful ppl.
Lack of coffee in the morning. But seriously - what goes on in the Guild Wars game guides that makes them so popular?

For me it's the maps. It's great to find maps on here or the guild wiki, but I can't have those open in front of me when I'm in the middle of a mission, and I get lost easily.

Play in a window, and Alt+Tab. I've been doing that since BWEs. Works a charm.
As for Guides, I personally believe that GWO > Guides. The decent work and effort that Tarrant Rahl and Chantal put into this site before and after Prophecies release was more than enough for any GWer to need. And now, as a Wiki, it's a very useful source.

I'd love to be able to play in window mode without crashing to desktop, but until then, paper maps are the next best option. ;)
I sincerely hope we get the new guide.

I like the guides as i can be in my room and just look at skills and look for combinations even if they are outdated. And the maps, you cant forget the maps :)

For men, they are worth it. So many pages to read through whilst sitting in the bathroom. Unlike those wimpy magazine that you can read cover to cover in two sittings, nay, Guidebooks give you a whole weeks' worth.

 No wonder our downstairs bathroom has a copy of Mopar Muscle: 50 years in it! Maybe I should just unobtrusively slip the art book in there or something ....

That has to be the most bizzare and anti-web rule I have ever heard of.
