Hero armour upgrade?

In Dajka Inlet, you can get Elite Sunspear Armour for your heroes. You need 'Stolen Sunspear Armour' for that. In the challenge mission, you can get, but why and how do you get it? Random drop? Certain amount of points?

Anyone know?

rank high enough in the challenge mission and you get them. Same goes with the challenge missions later in the game, too.

I think it is point based, but cannot confirm. It is definitely NOT rank-based, I personally came first in a challenge mission with a joke score as I was the second person to participate in it (it was rather far into the campaign), and got no armor items despite an NPc who performed the armor change being there.

It's not point based either - atleast there isn't a certain amount of points that'll guarantee you an armor.

First time: 41 kills, got it. Second time: 59 kills, got it. Third time: 60 kills, nothing. Fourth time: 55 kills, got it.

The only thing I can figure that was consistent in trial 1, 2, and 4 was that I killed 3 guild lords. I didn't the 3rd trial. However, I have noticed that I didn't receive the armor directly after killing the 3rd guild lord. I had to clear the area surrounding the guild lord (ie. his helpers) before I got it.

When have others gotten their armor? My 4 trials aren't enough to determine a pattern.

As far as i can tell from testing this mission a few times today is that you get 1 armor for every 2 guild lords you kill.
