Problems with rank - Jakanur Diggings mission

I have a level 20 character with 249 promotion points (Second Spear) and for some reason I cannot do the co-op mission at Jakanur Diggings. When I try by myself the option to run the mission is not available and when I play with someone else it says I do not have enough rank. This characters rank is higher then the other characters in the group which can run the mission.

My daughter and I brought over to Prophecies characters and have run these two characters together. The only thing we did that was unusual was that I did not manage a hero though the mission that requires you to have your heros capture three points in the training area right after arriving in Elona. When she did the mission with her hero it marked it complete for both of us.

It isn’t a huge deal as I seem to be able to do everything else but I would like to do that mission with this character.

Any thoughts?

Don't you have to be first spear to do that mission? If you're second spear, you might need to level a bit your sunspear points. By the way, how hard is it to get sunspear points when you're briging a canthan or tyrian char to Elona?

Well, it won't let you do the bounty killing in Istani lands because you're too high a level, but most quests give you healthy amounts and areas on the mainland offer bounties of 3 or 4 pts per creature. With yourself and level 20 henches or pals it is not only easy to collect points fairly quickly, but you can level your heroes fast along the way, too.

Which raises an interesting question - if you're stupid and don't take bounties with your Elonian character, is it possible to get trapped on Istan because you haven't got the rank to do a mission needed to leave?

I guess so, but you need to be first spear anyway to get your 30 attributes points, so why would you forego raising your sunspear rank?

I did all three Istani missions with my Canthan character and I had only 45 Sunspear points at that time, so there is no rank requirement.

My daughters and friends characters could do the mission with only 30 points. All three of these characters are from Prophecies. I also cannot do the Blacktide Den mission but was able to do the Consulate Docks mission. Some of the NPC act like my character is too powerful and others state I am not ready for things yet. I will grab some more promotion point and see if becoming a first spear fixes the problem. It is just odd that the other imported characters don’t have these requirements.

I am having this problem as well, but I am rank 8 with the sunspears and it still says that I am not high enough.

I figured out what the problem was. My daughter and I did the quest together to travel to Elona for the first time. For some reason it marked her as complete but did not mark mine as complete (she was party leader so that might be the cause). I went back to LA, talked to the Sunspear woman, traveled and accepted my reward and the character was all set.

Incidentally, I noticed that the same thing was true of the quest to travel to Factions. That one didn’t seem to get in my way though.

Because I had my Kryta quests hidden I did not see that these were hanging out there.

Thought I would share this in case it happens to anyone else.

The answer is simple, rank has nothing to do with it if you are a non Elonian character, to do the mission you must have the Dervish hero with you.

I believe only Elonian charaters need to have the rank requirement and the Dervish hero.

The rank alone will not open this mission, even if you have the rank of first spear.
The dervish quest is definately a req to get it though.

And be careful with this mission, it took me about a dozen times to do it before someone showed me the non-buggy way.
