Can a Tyrian/Canthan born toon do the Istani missions? [Archive]

Specifically:
I decided to bring my Necro over and play through the first time with her. I DID play throught the entire preview weekend so I am pretty familliar with the starting isle. I noticed it basically drops me into the story at the point where I can realatively quickly access the mainland, however I have mapped most of the island out BUT it wont let me enter the Jokahnur Diggings or Black Tide Den missions....

When I tried I only had about 50 Sunspear points. I now have over 500 and I am wondering if it was tied to my rank.
Also, will I be able to go back and do the first mission? the one with the Corsairs and the boats?

any info would be greatly appreciated.

This is just a guess, but I think that it will be like with factions in that tyrian characters couldn't do the first few factions missions for about a month.

Well, if we can't do the missions, we can't get the Protector title, so i'm sure there either is or will be a way.

Though, all the missions on Istani seem to be accessed via plot progression, so i'm not sure how this would work...

I was able to access them on my Tyrian Character. That probably means there is some rank requirement involved. Try again, see what happens.

I saw able to do them as well with my tyrian characters, with at most 1 sunspear rank. They may require you to do the missions in order, did you go back and complete the first mission?

I'm still not having any luck with this.
I will assume that I am simply missing the trigger NPC for the Diggings mission. I have heard the trigger NPC can usually be found OUTSIDE the mission town.

BUT, what about the very first mission? Some threads have mentioned that they have done this with their Tyrian toons?!? I have wandered around Kamadan and Che-something Fields and cannot find the trigger NPC!

(and yes, I have Koss in my party)

He's called "Historian", he's at the far E end of the Fields (under the entrance door).

Do you know where the NPC is that initiates the main quest so that I may access Johkanur Diggings?

I haven't tried Jokanur Diggings yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if you had to do the missions in order. That is, if you want to do Jokanur you have to do Chahbek Fields first (or whatever the very first mission is called... darn this faulty memory).

Just a guess, of course, I'll try it later.

What do you mean? I already did the chahbek village but i still can't do the Jokanur Diggings.

I think the only requirements for doing certain missions, is that you need to have a specific hero with you to do that mission, i.e the first mssion you need Koss, Jokanur Diggings you must have the Dervish hench with you and so forth, any closed gates are unlocked to non-Elonian characters as you are just reliving the events which I like.

I didn't do the missions in any order.

I still haven't found out how to get to Blacktide Den on a non-Elonian character, though. Both gates are closed from the outside.

I tried taking Melonni but i still can't access to the mission. It seems to be bugged. I get go into Blacktide Den though but i can't access the mission. There are no icons floating on their heads.

ok, confirmed that the Historian lets you "relive" the first mission.

Not sure how to access "Diggings mission" - Brought Meloni and still no access.

Not sure how to access "Blacktide" - Some have the gate to Blacktide unlocked, some (like me) do not have the gate unlocked.

Can any Tyrian or Canthan players post how they gained access to these missions for clarification???

And P.S. - for those of you who are playing through with your Non Elonian characters like me... If you have already obtained "Sunspear General" Talk to the Rank guy in the Sunspear city north of Kamadan on teh island of Istani for a free special skill that is the equivalent of Rez sig.

You need to have Tahlkora in your party, the guy by the gate should then have a green icon above him, you are then able to relive the mission. :smiley:

This applies to the Jokanur Diggings mission but the hero you need for that is Melonni.

The problem is the mission is bugged for some of the players but not for others thats where the confusion is. There is no icon whatsoever on anybody head in the two outpost.

I have the Collectors Edition (if that matters)

I tried doing Diggings with 2 different Tyrian characters
- had no issues

I can also do Blacktide with both Tyrians

the problems are not due to Rank or Sequence

one char only had 345 Sunspear points, my other char never did 1st mission

I have done all 4 missions on Istani Islands (Masters) and am a Tyrian Necro#

So yes... they ARE possible

Update: I have heard from another forum that it's POSSIBLE my problem is that my Tyrian Necro has not completed the Sunspears in Kryta quest out of Lions Arch. I too have brought my Necro from Tyria to Kamadan BUT I did it via the Canthan quest (as that was where I was parked).
I will attempt to perform the Sunspears in Kryta quest tonight and take the appropriate characters to Johkanur Diggings and see what happens.

My tyrian necro can't enter jokanur too, just like you I did the first mission (chahbek) with no problem, I got Meloni and Tahlkora but the Digmaster has no icon over his head.

Also Jokanur on the map appear like an outpost and not like a mission...
btw my warrior can do the mission...

Will this work the other way around? I've created a Dervish character for Nightfall, ran my way to Ascalon to learn the monk skills through the quests there, but no quests show up. I've tried the missions, and I start earning the title, but don't get the XP or skill point from completing them.

ok, I went back to Lions arch and was unable to attain the quest to travel to Kamadan due to the fact that I had already done the one out of Cantha. I did pick up Olias the Necro Hero just to be safe.
Went back to the Diggings with Meloni and Talkhora in my group... same thing, town icon, no mission icon over the digmasters head.....
WHAT GIVES!!!!???

this is bugging me!

Same with a friend of mine, i tried to get round it for him by entering with my elonian charecter with him in my party to try and circumvent the bug. Its telling me hes too low a rank however hes a rank 7 and im a rank 6 and i first entered as a rank 3.

This seems bugged to me!

Also we both have the CE. Ive not tried to access it with my tyrian chars so dont know if i have access.

I completed the missions on the island with my Canthan. I wasn't paying attention much, because it all worked....

I am now Trying with my Tyrian Ele. She has 1st Spear rank. I tried to join someone else for the Jokanur Diggings mission, since it has no icon for me. It told the Elonian native that I was not high enough rank. Soooooo....... off to farm a painfully whopping 198 more sunspear points to see if attaining captain gets me in. And yes, I have the 1st mission completed.

I just waited until I beat the game to do it. I was at the rank below castel...whatever it is. and couldn't get in. So I just wandered around doing other random things, then there was a little update and I could get into it... I dunno.

Made Sunspear Captain, and still no luck. I'm really beginning to think that it's a bug. I've been checking other towns, and can't find anyone to talk to that might enable the mission.

i found out why y friend couldnt get access, he hadnt completed that sunspears in kryta quest. once i completed it for him he coudl gain access. Hope this helps a few of those who are stuck.

So if you (this is a general "you" by the way) didn't finish the Sunspears in Kryta quest, how did you get to Elona? Isn't that the quest that unlocks Elona from Lion's Arch?

My Tyrian monk couldn't do Jokkanur Diggings and Blacktide den. Even though I did chahbeck village. I was able to fix the problem, when I was in Lions arch I noticed that Lionguard Bedo still had the quest icon, I discovered that he was offering Sunspears in Kyrta. After a quick relocation and chatting with Kormir I was sent back to the docks in Istan, I talked to the npc in the area and finished the quest, which I thought I did earlyer. Hope that helps most of you with this problem, it might be simmilar to canthians with the same problem.

Hmmmm. I went back into my Ele, and wayyyy down under Kryta Quests, I did indeed have "Sunspears in Kryta" still listed. I hald to talk to Kormir in Lion's Gate, who then transported me to the Sun Docks, where I had to talk to Seamarshal Bendro for my reward.

I just popped in to Jokanur Diggings and sure enough, the mission is there now!

Hmm. When you first did the Sunspears in Kryta quest, did you not claim the reward?

And if you can get to Kamadan, you can just walk to the Sun Docks.

Hmm. I have done both black tide, and diggings, without a prob, on 2 of my tyrian chars. i came across from cantha on one, and LA on the other.

Neither have done Chabek village, and had no probs doing diggings or blacktide.

Lets look at other things :
- Have you done the primary quests that First Spear Dahved gives you, in Kamadan? eg, Command Training, Rally the Sunspears, etc.
- Have you got all the hero's, eg, Koss, Melonni, Tahlkora, Sousake/Jin, Dunkoro?
- Have you got to the mainland yet (I ask because i did the Consulate Docks mainland co-op first, to get to the mainland, then went back to do the island quests. perhaps this is it?)

There was no Icon on anybodies head when I first did the mission, if it helps you need to talk to the person first with the right hero, before it appears.

Also to those people that couldn't get the mission, did you try doing the first mission by speaking to the Historian, on all accounts this is the first mission I did before doing the others and also did them in the order they would be If I was an Elonian.

Also I do have CE, but will try it on my non CE to see if that is a facter.
