Tips on finding a dedicated pvp player.. Help?

For the past month or so I have been trying to find dedicated members to join a soon-to-be organized gvg guild. I have had no luck finding any members, and i feel as though my last possible way to get ideas how to is by asking the experts. ALL comments are appreciated.

*To the moderator i have posted this here because many of the players in the Find-A-Guild Forum are looking for pve players.

My advice: join one before creating one.

If you are personally new to GvG you have no contacts, no (high-rank gvg playing) friends, and worse of them all, no experience. The leader of a guild is expected to be able to call strategies most of the time, as well as be in control of the builds ran (meaning you have to be able to figure out at a glance what you think will work).

Ensure the guild becomes part of a pvp alliance, and start making friends there. Guest for guilds whenever possible. Invite the people you know to HA or TA for casual playing. Eventually you should have a friends list full of contacts who you know, and who you know are skilled. Hopefully in the process you will have built up a fair load of experience yourself.

If you're part of a group of 3-4 people who want to play GvG, join a guild as a collective. If you already think you're experienced, go back and try again.

I hate to be advertising competing sites, but this forum generally consists of players who are more interested in PvE than PvP. There are other forums out there which have more PvP players, where it may be easier to find player who are interested in GvGing. I would still advise the route described above, however.

With all that said, one issue is that a lot of people you see in "top" guilds got there from pure luck. I personally have never had to search for a guild (save for now, as I am looking for a guild to give up in), and my journey from guild to guild seemed fairly straight after I was invited into a PvP guild from some casual TA games. From there, I only moved into three more guilds, and most of the players in my guild I have known for atleast a year now.

its just going to the arenas until you have a friends list that you like.

build up a good friends list and sooner or later you will have people joining up. As soon as you have 6-7 you can HA most days, and with HA you can pug in the odd person, and on the way, you will find people willing to do GvG.

Like Almas said, if your alliance guilds do regular GvG or have players interested in regular GvG just poach them to guest for you. Blindly shouting in TA/HA/temple rarely brings hope.

Well i DID get lucky and find an alliance a month or so ago, which gvgs, so i have that much; i also have some contacts from RA, TA. The reason im in a guild is cause its a RL friends guild and i feel bad leaving them, and most of them are actually half decent at pvp, in terms of they can run anything you throw at them, but being human you are not good at EVERYTHING. And yes i totally agree with not spamming (LF members), which is one thing i have never done, and specifically tell me officers not to do. The problem with recruiting PvP players is this:

You cannot get experienced GvG players to join you without a high ranking guild, and you can't get a high ranking guild without experienced GvG players.

Basically it boils down to this: Either get new PvP players and learn together as a team (and deal with being poorly ranked for a while), or find another guild to join.

irc is another way to get to know more players that constantly game. Guest them, or ask to be guested. Many on irc will be searching for guilds or just guest chances, but they in turn might have some friends they could pass onto you.

I have routinely guested with other guilds and recommended my guildless friends for the type of guild they would fit in with best.

Yes, I'd say this is right on the money. The team has to exist before you can make it into guild.

U will never know how a player plays before u did not play with him before head. Its always a risk to go out with a new player into a GvG match.

But thats not the only problem. Maybe u have an excelent Team and u have a new excelent player. But that new player is just not suited to ur team.:angry:
