View Full Version : The Envoy's: Good or Bad?

I was just thinking about the envoys and how they wanted Shiro as one. Then I thought are they good or bad? Considering what Shiro did why would they want him as an Envoy? The only thing that I can think of is that Abaddon touched them so that they would request Shireo to be one.
So anyone have any guesses or know?
I don't think the Envoy just picked him out. It's said somewhere that people who have done something VERY bad in life become an Envoy as their punishment. (And killing the emperor is a very big crime.)
I wonder though why they didn't figure out Shiro was Tainted, as alot of Tainted Souls get directed to the Realm of Torment instantly. Slight possibility that the "system" wasn't in place yet.
Maybe an off-topic question, but how about Rurik? Does he count as Tainted, as the Lich animated his corpse?

Not sure, since he was Chosen.
I don't think ther envoys are good or bad. The just "are". They only intervene when something interrupts their system. They wouldn't have stepped in if Shiro wasn't causing them problems.

They appear to just be there to guide spirits to the after life. A bit like valkyries.
They probably only exist in Cantha due to the highly structured way of life that the people of the Canthan Empire lead. They exist because bureaucratic logic dictates that they must exist in an afterlife that is to mirror the life that's lead by the average canthan citizen.
I don't believe that good or bad even enters the picture - they are "neutral" or indifferent, more like it... They have no interest in meddling with mortals, because it's not in their job description. Like all other bureaucrats, they only do what's strictly necessary to perform their assigned functions.

I don't think they are just neutral. They have committed atrocities in life, and are serving community service now.
I, personally, think they are evil, since they knowingly put Shiro in the Realm of Torment.

I don't think they knowingly handed Shiro right over to Abaddon because they where probably not aware that he was about to take control over RoT. They already have enough problem in UW with Dhuums forces causing problem. Perhaps Dhuum was just messing around in UW to cause a diversion so Grenth's minions wont see Nightfall coming until it is to late?
