OK, this build is a slightly modified R/Me echo dust trap build...

1. Energizing Wind
2. Quickening Zephyr
3. Serpent's Quickness
4. Arcane Echo
5. Echo
6. Dust Trap
7. Elemental Resistance
8. Troll Unguent

Attribs:

6 Inspiration
6 Beast Mastery
11+3 Expertise
11+3+1 Wilderness

Pyrebound or Drakescale chest armour for the extra +15 against elemental. Unmodiffied the Temple Guardians hit for 100 damage!

Target: Lvl 26 Temple Guardians

Head North from Tahnnakai to where the Temple Guardians hang out. Mark a trap spot and begin trapping. Using the regular sequence, but just laying dust traps, you've got time to lay 9 dusts before pulling.

Activate Elemental Resistance and pull the target. Stand and wait until the Temple Guardian(s) casts Breath of Fire (you'll see the ring of flame appear around you) and then move back to the trapping point (if you've used a marker '; space' will move you there.)

As soon as you get to your traps hit Trolls as the Temple Guardians will be coming to aggro.

Bang! Rinse! Repeat!

Drops:

Temple Guardians & Locked Chests drop Celestial Weapons and there is also a good chance of things like max Crenallated Swords in HM.

Notes:

Temple Guardians seem to completely ignore spirits so they will target you even if there is a spirit still alive.

enjoy

In explorable area, arent all temple guardians no longer enemies?

Can you explain what you meant by normal sequence as i've been thinkign of making a rnager for a while , the sweet solo builds are part of the reason

Nope. Keep exploring!

OK, the 'normal sequence using the echo dust trap build is...

Energising Wind -> Quickening Zephyr

Arcane Echo (use Serpent's Quickness while Arcane Echo is casting)

Echo -> Dust Trap

Echo (from Arcane) -> Dust Trap

Dust Trap

then as they recharge recast the 3 Dust Traps

Serpents

Dust Trap

Echo -> Dust Trap -> Dust Trap

So that's 9 Dust Traps down and time to pull.

I still cant find any enemy temple guardians! If I head north, I just find Vizu with some friendly temple guardians. Just to make sure, im going to Tahnnakai Temple from Zin Ku Corridor, right?

gotta love echo trapping. Does anyone know who is credited with that originally, because the skills are all prophecies skills and I remember back then when I was farming as a trapper it was usually with spike trap in UW 3 man teams? Will definitely give this a go see what drops are like though I may go for a 55 SV/SS or something instead, take out that rt boss, we'll see:wink:

@above poster - go further north, you'll get to some bridges over some muck, cross.

Yes, keep going, through the temple and across a bridge.

Edit: Sorry, cranialexodus already replied, paging a bit flakey sometimes on vBulletin :embarassed:

I'm guessing this build doesn't have a prayer of killing the Ritualist boss? It can't self heal thanks to no spirits been close enough for Spirit Light, but the quest is, does it die...?

In HM? Don't even think about it!

I am going to have to give this a go asap. I need to cap Echo still but that shouldn't be so rough. This looks like a fun build and I have been wanting to get back into some trapping after playing so much B/P or Splinter Barrage boringness.

Just a few tips for those trying this.

Always, always, always mark your traps - running around like a wally waiting for something to go boom makes you an embarrasment to trapper kind.

7 (seven) dust traps are enough to kill the Temple Guardians - 8 or 9 gives you less pulling time but more margin for error in the kill.

In HM monsters chase you forever and in this build you have no running skill so don't be a hero. If you screw up the pull, keep on runnin!

If you're new to trapping and/or the idea of damage reduction and survival as opposed to stance evasion then use a bow to pull rather than your +energy staff. All the Temple Guardian mobs are either 1 or 2 guardians at a time. Using a bow gives you less chance of botching a pull.

You can handle 1 or 2 guardians at a time, don't try for more - you'll die.

If you reckon you can take the boss, forget about it! Fast! You're set up to limit fire damage and the boss is a Rit who hits for 190 damage. You're gonna be deeeeed!

Take a lock-pick -> There are 4 chest spawn points in a very small area here.

Guardians themselves drop celestials so chances are good for neat stuff.

And the rewards can be good... shame its only a +14%^50%

Nice spot. Got a gold Cren sword my first time out. Having a couple chests in the area is a great bonus.

The only drag, albeit a minor one is the time it takes to get to the spot. With that in mind I dropped Echo/Arcane and the spirits, added Trappers Speed, Spike, (since I freed my elite) Flame, and Storm Chaser. Plenty of trapping power to take out the Guardians and I get there in half the time.

Thanks for pointing this spot out.

More so than their masters, but not enough. So I'd take on only 1 at a time.

Unlikely, you will miss out on a lot of damage and have energy problems. HM is not that forgiving.

I'm totally newb to trapping (I only just started because I want my GWEN heroes outfitted with good armor and am low on gold). What is marking? I'm assuming you drop somthing from your backpack over your traps and then just target it later?

Yes, always drop something (before you start) to mark where you trap nest is otherwise you wind up running around like a wally trying to find them.

Also remember that ';-space' picks up the nearest object which, if you're picking up after yourself, should always be your trap marker meaning you will 'automatically' go back to the trap site.

I've been experimenting with this with limited success for the time being. I'll keep going at it until I make my 6k (armor and runes) back, at the least. :P

Anyway, as for the Ritualist boss...I think he can be taken. I got 8 dust traps down, and got him to about 20% health with four ticks on the 8 traps. Unfortunately, he ran PAST the traps when I pulled him before coming back around to them and missed the fifth surge that would have killed him. I'm fairly confident that 9 traps and all five surges will down him. I survived plenty long after the traps were all done, too. Again, more than enough time for the fifth tick.

I haven't been able to get 9 traps down, though. Have to work on my timing some more...

Good setup though. Got three purples in one run.

One thing I would add to this though, don't stand in the middle of your traps, run to the far edge and then a little more. The mobs will melee you right on the edge of the traps as they go off and then run back through them to escape. If you stand in the centre then the mobs are very near to the edge of the traps and so can escape easier.

QFT.

I would've said the same had I been awake and not relying on dial-up ... arghhhh!

I'm thinking... Ranger/Monk... Protective Spirit, Marksman's Wager... either low or high HP build. Should work!
