View Full Version : GW2 sign for a guild, guild armor
it might be a bit much, but maybe as an alternative for a cape, you can weir guild armor.
you don't have to weir it all the time, just be in guild mode and you weir it.
was playing COX and when i found out about the super group mode, i was thinking about how it would fit GW2.
it could be a kind of armor you can't buy anywhere as normal armor, this kind of armor is exclusive for guilds.
so when a normal armor would look like this:
http://www.guildwars.com/images/spotimages/warriors.jpg
your guild armor could look like this:

http://features-temp.cgsociety.org/gallerycrits/165635/165635_1114793970.jpg
this has 3 advantages.
you have a way better way to show how strong your guild is, a cape doesn't really fit everyone...
you have a more free way way to play GW without lowering the coolness, capes often spoil the coolness of your armor
you have a better way to attract ppl to your guild then only a cape...(IMO, capes are a bad idea)this doesn't mean capes are out of the picture, it's just a secondary way to show your guilds riches.

Guild armor would be cool...maybe not something entirely different than standard armor, instead, take the normal armor and have certain options you can add to it like spikes,gems/jewels, embossing/engraving patterns, and guild logo on the armor. Maybe make the logo a free option, then the rest unlockable through various means, either purchase for gold or by winning a certain number of matches, etc.

Yeah but how would the customization of the Armor be handled by the GM? would they have to design a art style per armor piece in the game?
i really didn't like the Guild Cape thing cause bad art on those can really mess up your look. but problem was i still wanted a cape of some sort.
so i support this idea

Armors are one of the most annoying things to add.
How will Guild Armors be set? A list of pieces that you choose for each profession?
Adding one armor is hard enough already, and we already need more armors for Prophecies and Factions for the new profesions.
The cape is enough and works quite properly.
Not a bad idea I think.
I have wanted a sheild/offhand that had the guild's emblem (and colors?) on it. That I think could be kind of fun. You could even have it set up so that a victor in a GvG match could get a chance of their vanquished enemies shield/offhand dropping as a trophy. (This would be a new item, not actually taking it from anyone).
Shields/offhands would take up less inventory space than armor would, and honestly, if GW2 has the inventory issues of the first game, it will be a big consideration for me.
I like the idea of more things that reflect my guild.

did you see the first word in the thread title?
just sets per profession, peaces would only make things harder.

I had made a post for this very thing a while back. It's fairly similar. Heres a copy of it incase it helps others think of ideas to add to this concept.
Bring back the Guild Hall Armorer. But this time with a purpose.
This might be too big for them to add but might be possible for GW2 but you never know and it doesnt hurt to try right.
Have it cost the old 10k (atleast i think it was 10k) it used to get him in the Hall, but with a little twist. The armor he crafts is max grade but has a set color scheme chosen by the leader when the armorer is added to the hall. 3 colors background and detail jsut like the cape and accessory instead of emblem. The color scheme is automatically applied to any armor that is crafted from the Guild Armorer.
This would be to have 1 more thing to set your guild apart from the rest and also would be a gold sink. Also because this armor is for a specific Guild should a Member leave the Guild they would no longer be able to equip the armor. Cant join a Guild just to get max armor then leave.
Chosing the colors is the same 2k charge as the cape. The Leader can then pay 2.5k per peice (10k for a set) to make armors for each class and gender (2 sets per class and gender or 4 total per class). For each peice of armor to be mde there would be a set number of customizeable "slots" for things like; the skin, the detail, and other nicknacks (spikes, belts, chains, etc.) would be somehting like 1 skin slot, 1 detail slot, and 3 accessory slots per peice for Member grade, 1, 2, and 4 for Officer, and 1, 3, and 5 for Leader. when multiple slots are available it should not be required that you use all of them. If you like the look with less then use less.
By having different ones for Member, Officer, and Leader it gives a slightly more subtle way of marking the ranks other than having them posted next to the guild tag in your name as has been sugested on this site a few times.
The first pair (m/f) has fairly basic options and nicknacks to chose from and once made can be crafted by Members for 1k per peice plus materials.
The second pair (m/f) has more and fancier options and nicknacks to chose from but can also use the basic ones, and once made can be crafted by Officers for 5k per peice plus materials.
The Leader can create their own unique sets for their characters with any of the options available jsut like the officers, and once made can then craft one for 10k per peice plus materials. Only real difference between the Leader set and the Officer one is the number of slots for the things making it just slightly fancier.
Options include any details of any armor in the game (skins, the dyeable details, the little spikes and other things you find all over the armors) and ca be used in any layout.
Skins should be confined to the normal class specific armors. Cant for example have a ranger in full plate. the skins however should be very basic (coat, long coat, chainmail, platemail, etc).
The detail work is the parts that are dyeable on normal armors and should not be limited by class unless that gets way too tricky to code and mend clipping issues.
Accessories are jsut that. all the little nicknacks on the armor like spikes and belts and such. While on many armors these are the detail portion these will be separate and can be added in anyplace desired on the peice of armor to be crafted and have there own color option.
And thats basically it. A bunch of fully custom sets of armor that can be crafted by your Officers and Members. And you.

that's good but then we would have to fear the GM picking Stupid looking Colors and Symbols. i think the Guild Armor should just stick to some Sort of Trophy System for Gear, Similar to how Warhammer is doing their Trophy System.

That's one of the reasons members of a guild really need to communicate with their leader and vice versa. Just because a Guild Leader is incapable of listening to criticism and advice and it doesn't mean such an option shouldn't be thrown in.

still not Everybody is going to agree on the same opinion at times. if iam in a Guild made of up people that like the color pink and Heart Shapes, i dont want that look to my Armor. but my Friends may love that look.
You would not HAVE TO wear the guild armor. And could you please stop starting every second word with a capital letter? And at the same time, it wouldn't be too hard to stop with the "Turn This game Into A warraft Copy Plz !!" too, would it?

This has nothing to do with the suggestion at hand, please try to stay on topic.

/SIGNED As long as it's optional.
Would be nice to have other little things to further identify guilds as well.

At the same time the --->GL<--- (can I get neon lights for this) could pick something that would look ridiculously amazing that players might not be able to use until much later in the game. So it's a trade-off and depends on your GUILD LEADER
A guildarmour could be nice, but I am against "pimpin" the armour with "charms" connected to guild size etc.; perhaps connected to the number of NPCs in the GH.

Perhaps something like Peasant clothing skins (a.k.a. Town Clothes )
Nothing I see coming for GW1, but there is a lot of space for it in GW2

if you made a guild for a specific goal, then you should tone it to that goal.
also, like i said in the first part, it's a guild mode.
so if you don't want to wear it, don't.
if you're a GL, you and the members should agree with the style, not just one side.
btw, it's a bit off-topic, that problem only exists with goal-less guilds.
they have no goal as sign and style, so they have the dilemma, this has nothing to do with the idea it self.
anyway, i was thinking of some kind of aura for guilds or a 50% transparent guild flag above ppl's head, but that requires an option "do not show other guild effects", just to make sure any GPU card can take it :P.

yeah i was thinking the idea was similar to the guild capes, but instead on Armor.
thats why I Agree on a Disable button for these kind of things.
in my example. I was pointing out that the player may be in a Friend's Guild made up of people that like Colors and Symbols that you may not like. and i wouldnt want those symbols on my gear
(same issuse with capes)
sorry i sometimes have a hard time to explain things on paper

I would love to wear armor that showed off my guild! I really like the idea of having different ranks in the guild with higher quality armor. You could also set it like the hero armors are right now. Where it varies depending on level. To prevent low levels from going in and getting max armor at level 1

Erm... What has personal taste to do with a guild having a goal or not?
And how would you define 'goal' anyways? There really aren't that much different goals. There's pvp, pve, and farming. But that's about it, I think.
Other than that, I also like the idea for as long as it's optional.
There might be a downside to this, though: I made my own guild simply because I wanted to be able to design my own cape. Perhaps a lot of one-member guilds would sprout because everyone might want to be able to wear armour that is entirely custom-designed by them.
Or perhaps guilds that cannot afford to buy the armour crafer AND cough up the costs for designing the three different armour sets, would quickly lose their members.

Love the idea, it would really give the guild a bigger feeling of unity.
Not really sure of guild armor but along the lines I would love to be able to have a coat of arms to hang in my hall, and maybe a weapons rack to store our gear when we are home. Could even go as far as a rack for armor to display.

I like the idea...cautiously, although I dunno how keen I am on having different armor for members, officers, and leaders, or unlockable stuffs...I think it'd be cool to have guild armor available though, and I wouldn't mind picking out stuff with horns on the helm for my guild! Bring on the vikings! yeah! :p

Cant join a Guild just to get max armor then leave.Oh, that would be so awesome. Right? I mean if you were a guild leader you could recruit people, have them all buy armor to "look cool", then force them to do your bidding since if they don't, they'll be kicked from the guild making them lose their probably quite expensive armor.
It would suck for everyone else though. But hey, you could always create a one-man guild to get the armor.
