View Full Version : Perhaps....
I just read at the end of the PC gamer magazine for this month that they aren't releasing what next months issue is going to be about because it is so top secret....I wonder if it is any chance GW2 News. Makes sense that since PC Gamer got the big scoop when they announced it perhaps when they let out more info it would be with PC Gamer as well?
It is some big cover story and suppose to be filled with features...but they aren't releasing what the features or cover story is about....crossing fingers it is GW2 info.
It was on the last page at the bottom of the page (with a picture of a guy with duct tape over his mouth)

There's one particular guy that has pictures of him with duct tape over his mouth. His name is Paul Barnet, creative director of Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.
Pictures of the May 2008 newsletter are already leaking so my guess is it's going to be a WAR exclusive on White Lions and other junk they are releasing.
However I could be wrong...I could really use some GW2 information. C'mon Anet, im DIEING over here!

I don't think it's going to be Guild Wars II related news I'm afraid.
How long has it been since they released this information on GW2?
The biggest release of info about it was May of 2007 with the PC Gamer Magazine. I think there was some releases in other spots around that time as well. There has been bits and pieces over the last year since then but that was the major news of it. (I would have to get all my old PC Gamer magazines out to see if there was any other data in any other ones but I remember May 2007 had a lot of it.)
Yah I doubted it was going to be GW2 also but...since it had been a year since PC Gamer had really reported on GW there was always hope....I figure when we do get news it will come in the form of a magazine article first. Then on the regular web.
Here is the actual quote from PC Gamer Mag that I was referring to (was tired earlier and falling asleep....)
Have you ever had a secret that you're just dying to blurt out, but you can't for another month, and the stress of holding it in makes you want to do the pee-pee dance? That's what the PC Gamer staff is doing right now because the August issue will be chock full of exclusives, including a top secret cover story so huge we had to go to (CENSORED) to get it. Just 30 days more....The censored is actually in the paragraph in the magazine btw... With the Guy with duct tape over his mouth and tied up beside the paragraph. I looked up the picture of Paul Barnet and this isn't him. I think this is just a picture that is suppose to mean they are keeping a secret....
I would be happy if it was just one of the feature articles just to have some news...
Don't know about your part of the world, but I've read the quote you've posted and I've never seen this degree of anticipation in any mags I've ever read. Not about GW, anyway. Not even close. We'll have to wait and see.

Doubt it's GW2.

Well, it does seem about time for the news of GW2 to start flowing. Beta just around the corner. This article (http://www.destination-games.com/us/news/2007/10/dev_corner_imag.html)was the last I'm aware of, last October.
Oh, and the post by Gaile at Guru stating that M. O'Brien says much has changed since those early interviews. So I'd expect much has changed since those early "concept/survey" ideas. Expect something completely unique and new is my guess. . .

Not really, they released two after that:
December 07(a sweet look into how the devs think): Guild War 2 Dev Interview (http://www.gamersglobal.com/special/interview/guild-wars-2-more-interview-with-arenanets-founders)
January 08(this one is short and mostly repetitive but at least it confirms everything we have heard before): Short GW2 Info (http://www.gamesradar.com/pc/guild-wars-2/preview/guild-wars-2-updated-impressions/a-2008011014346814055/g-20070327111030501040/p-2)

Those are the interviews M. O'Brien was referring too; to paraphase "Much has change since those early interviews." The interview was given early in the year, but was not posted until much later, Dec 07. So the article was a bit misleading, and Arena Net was waiting for the first post to pop-up and immediately added the disclaimer, as well as an explanation.
I'd suspect once they had a chance to think about things, while finishing up EoTN, they realize that there were better ways, much better ways, to handle GW2.
I think the last interview listed on the Guild Wars 2 page (http://www.guildwars.com/products/guildwars2/default.php)is our best indication of where things are headed.
Also, EoTN likely has a hint of many features slated for GW2.
