Comments Off

As most of our visitors have probably noticed, this last month or so there has been a banner promoting the MS Toga Party in our Friends widget. MS Toga Party is a charity fundraising event with the aim to raise support and awareness on Multiple Sclerosis. And tomorrow, April 21, the day has finally come! You can participate in the event live by joining one of the hosted districts, tuning in to GW-EN radio or listening to the GuildWars2Live stream. There are also Twitter and Facebook pages you can follow, MS Walks out in the afk world, and of course all donations to the MS Society are much appreciated.

Once again, Gamers Giving Back and the Gaming World Entertainment Network will be hosting the MS Toga Party! The event is a charity fundraising event, hosted within the game Guild Wars. Its aim is to raise awareness and support for those who are effected by Multiple Sclerosis. The event takes place in April to coincide with the North American Wide Supercities MS Walks. The ‘Toga Party’ can be found in international districts of Chahbek Village inside of the game’s world.

GWOnline Community Feature – Rhonda a.k.a. Malibu Barbie
2

Colin and Barbie at PAX

The two finalists in the PAX 2011 "Biggest smile" competition, Rhonda and Colin Johanson.

For this next installment of the GWOnline Community Features we had a chat with Rhonda, also known as Malibu Barbie to the Guild Wars community. Rhonda is one of the central figures of the “Pink Day in LA” events in Guild Wars 1, and we were of course thrilled to hear that she and the Gaming World Entertainment Network (GW-EN) are planning to take their good cheer and community spirit on to Guild Wars 2.

GWOnline: Could you tell us a little about the history of the Gaming World Entertainment Network and the Gamers Giving Back organization?

Rhonda: I wanted to create something unique for video gamers to break the stereotypes that we are all lazy and do nothing all day. I wanted to show what big hearts we have. So initially Gamers Giving Back was the first idea that came to mind. From there I decided to combine it with the idea of GW-EN. The combination of the two really seemed to work well together.

Arenanet | Tradeshow Summer
1

GW2 Ship Concept Art

GW2 Ship Concept Art

I can’t believe that it took this long for the official announcement to make it to the front page. (Pardon my slowness.) Anyway, although there was mention of this before, ripe for the Memorial Day weekend (the inofficial start of summer), Martin Kerstein made an official announcement regarding their summer trades show plan. Like last year, Anet will skip E3 in favor of more fan-oriented events. This year’s plan consists of the following pit-stops:

1.) San Diego Comic- Con (July 21-24)
2.) Gamescom (August 17-21)
3.) PAX Prime (August 26-28)
4.) Paris Games Week (October 21-25)

This summer is promising to be one full of events and anticipation as Anet has promised lots of new information, a demo and some surprises.  Head on over to the original blog post to fetch all the details.

To the community, is any one planning on attending any of the events above?
