What’s better than an Oreo cookie? Double stuffed. What’s better than a cheesburger?  Double patty. What’s better than the previous GW2 beta servers? Well… ANet’s enlightening IT Director Jared Chavez and IT team brings us closer to gaming nirvana by doubling the Guild Wars 2 servers — Delicious.

Beta Weekend Event 2 begins on Friday, June 8th, at noon PDT (GMT-7) and runs until Sunday, June 10th, at 11:59 p.m. PDT (GMT-7). Join us!

When ANet guaranteed a “final epic piece of art” they were not kidding.  Yes, the half-million mark for Facebook followers has been reached — good job all!  The final reveal gives us a nice in-game screenshot of Destiny’s Edge confronting the Shatterer — personally embellished by none other then Daniel Dociu.  Check out Guild Wars 2 on facebook to read the details!

New German Community Manager for ANet

ANet has enlisted again from the community in hiring Ramon Domke as their new German Community Manager for Guild Wars 2. Ramon Domke is known for his work on the Wartower spotlights–check out the Facebook post and leave a greeting!

Ramon joins previous hired community managers Rubi Bayer, Melanie Corolleur, and Aidan Taylor who joined ANet back in February; and of course Regina Buenaobra, Martin Kerstein, and Stephane Lo Presti.

Mike O’Brien on the Guild Wars 2 Beta

Mike O’Brien talks about the first Guild Wars 2 open beta–from server capacity to player feedback.

“[...] even with 48 worlds we didn’t have enough server capacity to meet the huge demand.”

Player Expectancy and GW2

Every new game eventually butts head with the full gaming community – upon release.  With expectations and ideals so diverse among the community, there will  always be those who do not like the cake.  Whether the cake gets devoured, is awkwardly accepted with lingering disappointment, or altogether shunned; one can imagine hearts to quicken for even experienced game developers.  The line between genius and insanity may be fine, but developers continue to bravely walk the gamble of originality required for such a competitive market.

Gamers have seen the good, a lot of the mediocre, and have on occasion been smacked hard with the ugly.  Even though community expectations and ideals can differ greatly – whether Squee or QQ is the reaction given – gamers will always hold passion in common.  This passion for engaging and fun creative gaming can be seen across many favorite titles from companies who have found the right connection with their market audiences.  ArenaNet (ANet) is one of these companies.
