The second rule of the Guild Wars 2 beta is: you DO NOT talk about the Guild Wars 2 beta.

That isn’t just me trying to slip in a Fight Club reference, I’m serious. The Non Disclosure Agreement makes sure of that. So I guess I’ll get my coat… Oh, well, okay, I’ll tell you what I’d do. But if I do get in, I won’t actually tell you what I did. Or even that I got in.

First off I’d do as I’m asked – they are needing people to test it for a reason and them choosing me and my below par rig would mean they want me to perform tasks and report back on how my system handled it.

If I Were In Guild Wars 2 Beta – Shawn’s story

If I were in the Guild Wars 2 beta, well.. it would probably play out similar to my previous ArenaNet testing experiences. I’ve been an alpha tester of Factions and Nightfall, as well as on the Test Krewe. This testing thing is old hat, to be honest.

While I can’t give specifics from anything while I was in, some general information was obvious even from before then. Members of my then-guild would run off into Ventrilo’s passworded alpha channel at certain times, saying it was “all call” time, but nothing else. Of course, now I know the specifics of this, and how they compile their feedback. Perhaps I should turn this around, and say what you should do if you get in the Guild Wars 2 beta.

GWOnline Blog Extravaganza Winners!

Our very first GWOnline Blog Extravaganza is now judged, and the winners are found. We got seven brave contestants who all wrote a blog post on the topic of “If I were in Guild Wars 2 Beta”. Some great ideas there, so something to read for the lucky people who do get in to the beta later this month. It was not easy to find our winner and two runner-ups. But we did, and here they are:

  • First place, and winner of an everlasting Reindeer tonic for Guild Wars 1 and a very special forum title: Shawn! (Still not sure if the blog design helped or hurt though).
  • First runner-up, and winner of a forum title: Art Yi Mor!
  • Second runner-up, and also winner of a forum title: Jono Mozza!

GWO Blog Contest: Win Title, Glory and a Reindeer Tonic!

By now everyone should know that the Guild Wars 2 Beta signup has started. To mark this momentous occasion, we here at GWOnline decided to host our first ever “GWOnline Blog Extravaganza” contest!

The rules are simple. You make a blog post in the Community Blog section titled:

“GWOnline Blog Extravaganza – If I Were In Guild Wars 2 Beta”.
One post per person. You can edit it as many times as you like but the post as it stands one week from now, i.e. the leap day or February 29 PST midnight, is the one that counts.

The winner of this premiere contest will win one Everlasting Reindeer Tonic (for Guild Wars 1) and a Custom Blogging Champion Forum Title. The first and second runner ups will win Custom Blogging Champion Runner-up titles. We will also publish the winner’s and the two runner up’s posts on GWOnline’s front page.
