No Guild Wars 2 at Gamescom

Comes as no huge surprise this with the launch looming but there will be no Guild Wars 2 at Gamescom next week in Germany. In an update regarding summer events ArenaNet commented:

Some of you have asked which trade shows ArenaNet will attend this summer, so let me give you an update.

Right now, the entire studio is focused on one thing: the launch of Guild Wars 2 on August 28. As a result, our tradeshow presence this year will be limited.

gamescom (Aug 15-19) – Members of the ArenaNet Community Team will be at gamescom this year, but unlike last year, we will not have a playable demo of Guild Wars 2. Our booth will be a chillout zone—the calm before the storm—so swing by, say hi, and get free drinks.

Gamestop Expo (Aug 29)- We will be at the Gamestop Expo at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX on August 29 from 11:00 – 16:00. We will have 16 Guild Wars 2 demo stations at the show, 8 of which will be on the Alienware Hummer.

PAX (Aug 31-Sep 2) Since PAX Prime takes place the week of launch, we will not be attending PAX this year. But if you are in the Seattle area, we will have a party on Saturday September 1 to celebrate our launch. We’ll have more information at a later date.

More PAX Impressions

A couple more PAX articles have surfaced today, the first coming from the guys at Massively who went hands-on with the Asura.

The second article comes from community member Vampiresbane who has whipped up an overview of ‘Supporting the Community and Designing Dynamic Events‘ which is the first part in a series being put together so make sure you check those out when they appear.

Guild Wars 2 3D Vision At PAX – Video Interview

Nvidia are on the PAX show floor and bring you a new video with Randy Price Senior Vice President of ArenaNet who discusses the game and what makes it different from other MMOs on the market or are coming out. PvP is also discussed and how they want to make it an eSports title. Finally Randy talks about the 3D vision that was on show at PAX. A good interview here so grab a coffee and watch.

CMEPTb Shares Guild Wars 2 PAX Experience

There’s been a bit of a whirlwind of Guild Wars info these past few weeks, what with Gamescom and now PAX. Community member CMEPTb made his way up to PAX to get some quality time with the game and meet the ArenaNet team who were on-hand to answer questions. It’s a pretty lengthy write-up of the PAX demo and shots are also included for good measure.

It was nice to read what different members of the ArenaNet team are enjoying about the game as CMEPTb managed to chat with as many as possible adding their thoughts to his post.
