We went with 8 mesmers into it. Bio had spent some hours today already trying to do this; and the issue is apparently the reaper's quest in the ice wastes.

I'm not too sure how this quest is normally done, and in which ways it was changed. All I could see this time was that it is crazy indeed.

We had 2 healprotters, 1 spirit spammer, 2 domination hexers, 1 summoner (EVAS, imp), 1 water caster, 1 obsidian flesh tank.

Everything went surprisingly well until the ice wastes. What I then could see was that Frozenwind was far off in the distance, and a huge amount of red dots spawned between Frozenwind and the reaper.

Bio (our obsi tank) went and tried to tank them - this ought to be possible if she is Life Bonded and perhaps Life Barriered.

However, turning one of the healprotters into a semi-bonder will reduce our success rates at the 4 horsemen, I think (unless Bio tanks one side and the rest takes care of the other side?)

We would need a BiPer, and perhaps indeed someone with Balth Spirit for the Tank. But I don't quite see how playing a bonder would be feasible to do as a mesmer...

So, I still haven't seen Dhuum (doom!). :tongue:

Anyway, we then went and killed Magmus in HM. That was considerably more fun, especially as our heal(protter) lagged out on the 3rd level and we only had a ZBprotter left for the red bar pushing activities.

I guess I did a decent job as the only "monk", because we didn't even wipe. :tongue:

Thanks to an online friend (who's name shall not be known now...sorry.) I figured out some stuff in my RL situation. (thank you very much btw, for giving me the final push I needed.)
And tonight was a small step for me, but a huge leap toward finding some sort of balance in my life.
I'm taking it slow, thanks to some people I met who gave me some support and advice (in RL.)

GW's fancy new boss creatures are more and more along the lines of Glint (oversized, monster-only skills) instead of being normal.

I haven't been in the UW and haven't had a look at the new Dhuum boss (as for now, that is - I suspect that the mesmers will go for UW tonight), but everything looks like he's just as retardedly designed as the other bosses of his kind: Oversized, uses his own personal stash of skills, wipes teams in case that they make some mistakes.

The size aside -someone, be it the dev or the monster, clearly needs that giant size to compensate for lack of length of private parts, discussion over- I absolutely loathe it when the critters have their own set of skills.

Why is that?

Because you don't know what the skill is doing unless you do some homework and study the boss' description on the guildwiki and learn the icons and skill names at heart. Or you can try to figure it out on the go, by hovering the mouse over the skill icon and reading the text.

Doing the research bit before missions is rather annoying, because only the one singular creature uses the frigging skills. Why waste time to learn that Crystal Haze does X, while Shiro's Battle Stance does Y? Why waste time to identify the skills that need to be interrupted for these unique idiots?

Don't we all spend by far too much time already to learn the functionality of all the normal skills?

Learning on the go (mouse over the skill icon), however, became more and more impossible, because, of course, these boss creatures are designed by an idiot who added additional damage rules to the unique snowflake critters: If you don't interrupt the right thing, or if you don't break the correct stance, you're toast. Go back to town and do it again.

Glint was rather forgiving in that regard, actually. Shiro and that flying lizard in Unwaking Waters started the trend of devastating unique skill crap. It went downhill ever since.

Now, this new boss "Dhuum" is at the end of a rather long series of quests, which are a formidable problem for most PUGs already in themselves. And it appears that he is of the "get it wrong, and you die, hoho!" variant.


Anet may think that these battles are "epic" and "great fun", but they aren't. Got banned for something that was said to a jerkwad on here who seems intent on agrivating anyone and everyone who he feels 'whines'.
Being banned wasn't what pissed me so much, but the fact that said jerkwad wasn't banned and I was stuck in my craw. Anyway, it's not something that needs to be dwelled upon.

Since someone else's statement that attacked something I said, but not me directly, but the clan I'm in, got booted, that got me feeling a little better.

Then I found out what nick was asking for, and it's like WHOOOT!
I do collect some items regularly. mainly stuff that has good usage from traders. After I started playing factions, I noticed that the staffs and offhands from that game were usually the best to get. The wands... ehh, not so much so, but the melee weapons and offhands were allways worth getting, especially for heros.
And I decided that 3 items in particular were of great interest because of the large amount of traders for them.
Jade Bracelets, Putrid cysts, and Plague idols.
I'm actually still recovering from using up all the jade bracelets from when nick asked for them before. I sold a whole stacks worth back then. He hasn't asked for the cysts yet, and I'm actually still recovering from Gaile's party as well. I'm back over 100 of them finally, but they only come in every once in a while. I hate going against afflicted, so I avoid them whenever possible, but do pick up the cysts and save them. I also save the ones from the level 24 afflicted, as there's a couple good traders for those, but those aren't ones that I get very much at all.
As for plague idols, I'm actually well over the stack mark, and during the previous week's nick request, I had gone against am fan to get some good drops, and to hopefully break up the farming code. (I noticed that if you farm different things and then switch back to your target, that kind of tricks the code sometimes. sometimes.)
So I was actually over by a stack and 12.
Everyone was selling idols for 800g, so I started by selling some at 600, and realized that was way to cheap. I sold the rest of them at 750, though I had to keep the calculator up the whole time for each transaction.

Still, that apparently was a very good price, as I sold through the stack in under an hour.
Made over 180k off it. WHOOT! over 900k now in my bank account, and my rit who was selling them was well over 60k on her still.
Friggin rich!
Now I had to figure out what the hell I'm gonna do with all that cash.
I suppose buy some more outfits, but... No idea what I wanna get and for whom.
most obsidian stuff looks like crap to me.
Probably what I'll end up doing is buying more heavy bags. But the problem I have is people are selling them for ectos, and aren't willing to negotiate in prices for them, despite the fact that ectos are now worth 1.5x more then they did a month ago. So a bag that sold for 100k+15e before, should sell for 100k+8-10e at best.
This same mentality was bandied about by this guy selling minis. He was selling them for what felt like was way over the price.
A fire djinn for 35e. I told him, that's way over the price range of what it should go for, I was willing to pay 100k+ e, and he said nope. Wants ectos only.
Okay fine.
He was selling B day presents though, and had a 4th year one.
My luck with those things has been on the suck side lately, last time I tried that I got another dredge.
But I felt, F it. I've got money to burn, I dropped the 40k, and traded him for it.
After buying it I went up to the 2nd ramp area, and was talking to Kahlin about stuff.
I told her to wish me luck or something, and popped the present.
BAM! Gold lettering, and it's a dagnar.
Weeeellll... sht.
I just BOUGHT one of those not even 2 weeks ago. Right at the end of the halloween stuff, after the NPCs were gone, but the decor was still up.
For 90k even.
Everyone else told me wow!, and it's worth 100k and some ectos.
I told Kahlin about it, and she said

I asked her if the chara I traded her the shell to a few minutes ago was still in int dist, she said yes. I ported there, opened trade, and put the bugger in. She said, are you SURE?
I said I'll give this to you on one condition. That you won't turn around and sell it.
She said no, she didn't want to sell it at all. She'd treasure it.
Works for me. Hit accept and it was hers.

I just asked her to remember me if she gets lucky with the wintersday dungeon quests.
She said if she gets 3 mpbs, I'll get one of them. I said I don't think ANYONE will get that lucky. She said yea, though she was willing to share one with me if she got it, long as it's never dedicated.
I don't dedicate things unless I intend to get rid of them. Usually selling them cheap, or giving them away.

Anyway, we talked for a little bit more about mini pricing, (bought a water djinn for 25k a week ago for the other account)
I went back to market place to find a group to get to nick. Aparently good karma was with me as a paragon and their team of paragaons and koss were on thier way there, and I came along for the ride. I used spirits to keep the jades occupied, going so far as killing the group by nick. GOt presents, and... things are good.
I shoulda opened them, but... didn't feel right right then. I'll wait for the moment when it comes, and I think I'll get something good. I've got 2 other accounts to get pressies from him, +15 extra in storage.
