So now eeEEEEEveryone has to start up on the blogs all at once. Go fig.

Ah well, I needed to start writing again anyway.
So like everyone else, I did the new Mad king quests.
The first time on the first one was a bit challanging, but I got used to it, and did it well after a while. The second one...
I realized later that the first one was merely training for.
Got lost many many times on that first chara I was running around with on there, got killed on more then one occasion.
After about the 4th time I started figuring things out. I had never really been around UW much normally, but I HAD been there and tooled around during the wintersday quests, which while the grinches held the bone pits, I went off and explored the rest of UW for an hour or so. I guess that paid off finally.

The winding passes of twin snakes were a little hard to figure out at first, but then once I got to the point I could see the exit to the plains, I knew where I was going.
I had a bit longer route then most people do. I would go to labyrinth reaper first, then village, then head back, head up the path to the plains, go right to the pools, head back to the plains, and then over to bone pits.
Then work my way back and up to the twin snakes reaper, and then to frozen wastes reaper, and then up the hill to conferance.
Trouble spots were usually right at the entrance/exit of the hall to labyrinth reaper, as if I wasn't careful, I'd get stuck on a bull.
On the way out I would try and get as far as I could without using the shout, but when the stance runs out, I kinda have to use it.
While the stance is active, the ataxx will decide you're not worth running after usually once you're past them, they know they can't catch you. If the stance runs out, and you're still in agro, they WILL give chase.

For the most part I can KD 2 mobs, hopefully not right next to each other, as I have to use tab to find them, but it can work. Everything else I have to use the shout on. If it's something in large groups that gives chase, usually attaxx, smites, and graspings. Casters you either KD or shout on.
As like everyone else, bone pits SUCK.
I found best way to deal with it, is to be agressive to a point.
Run in, KD the two bonees that are walking in, usually as they start seperateing, run down, KD the single, and then hold until as much of the groups there were in range, and then shout, run up, stand in the corner, hopefully with as little degen as possible, waiting out the degen if I had any. The next problem would be the bridge, as two would usually come up, and the shout would not be available during that time. And trying to target them individually would NOT work. On one occasion, I did manage to KD them, but they were ON the bridge, and when I thought I was past them, almost up to the ramp up, I start getting hits, degen, and I'm like... wtf? and I'm dead 3 seconds later, and use /stuck, and find I'm still on the bridge. A real FFFFFFFUUUUUUuuu moment there.

Anyway, we all have our own horror and bone pit strategys we deal with. Each run usually took about 20 min or so. Across 2 accounts, that's 5 charas on one, 7 on the other.
I didn't want to run my survivor charas on it, but...
IN retrospect, and pretty late in the game, I decided... I could run one survivor in the works, I'd just use the guild out if things got dicey. This was assuming of course, my connection wouldn't crap out, which it was doing a bit more then I wanted to on that weekend.
But it seemed to do it only at certain times of the day. (notice that it's fine NOW)
Problem was, I took the quest to late in the game, and in porting her to underworld, she got shunted to chahbek village.
A real WTF moment there, and I sorta... bleghed after that. There goes easy exp then.
I ended up giving the stack of mobstopers to the ele, and let the chara with the least skill points turn them in.
That's actually nice to be able to do that.

So... the quest is more or less over, but we were able to keep going down there, farming skeles, and filling up mobstoppers. On my rit, the chara I was using for farming down there, I had well over 150 of them to fill. Spent allmost all of thurs in UW, when I only ment to spend a few hours at most.
For the last 4 days pretty much I've been sending her down there on a regular basis.
She farms fairly well on her own, and she has 3 backups in dunk, odgen, and zhed.
NEED to remember to put hard rezzes on all of them though. Keep forgetting that.

Problem though, in doing underworld as much as I have been, and getting some fairly good drops, I've been neglecting the rest of the game. I haven't done one Z quest now in over 2 weeks. for good or ill... that remains to be seen, but I do need to work on getting more bags. I ended up finally getting the heavy bag, and that went to the rit. She's the one who's earned it the most.
The mediums I found I can buy for a good price most of the time for about 40-50k. For me that's nothing. I can blow that kinda cash easy now.
I actually bought some minis during the halloween period. One guy sold me a dagnar for 90k, and then.. offered me a second dagnar for 80k. That made me nervous, worrying about duping, Of course it could just be the guy was abnormally lucky. Getting 2 of the same mini from 4th year presents.
I did get a jora for 25k before the season opener, and a nian for 50k after the end of things. Jora... I'm amazed at. Seen people trying to sell her for 60-85k. Same with nain, but I think because of how many minis are out there, the demand is no longer there.
I'd still like to get a fire djinn, but... over 100k isn't worth it for me for that one.
I'm amazed the water djinn is going for as little as 25k, though 30-40k seems to be the average right now. That's still one of my favs.
Still kicking myself for that deal I made with it. 100k _6 ecto and 5 black dye.
Blegh. My only real bad mini trade.

But the problem is, this is filling me up even more so.
I need to probably just start dumping off the junk minis.
Ones I would never take out no matter what.
Oh, on secondary account, the rit there turned 3. Opened it up and got... another...goddamn ****ing **** smoking **** throwing mother****ing crack addict piece of garbage MONKEY.

ANyway... stuff to do in game.
Um...
Sort crap I guess. I need to figure out who needs runes and weapons for heros on various charas.

Vermins, I remember that my warrior was having troubles with that boss of theirs. I also remember who showed me: our guild leader (I was in GWO at the time before I became a ronin.)

Ahh, good times. Before they nerfed farming badly with their new system.

After that I went to do another round of CoF, bought 3 challises, got one in the dungeon itself. 9 so far.

And then I want to do the Zbounty, which was rather easy, since I somehow managed to pull our little dragon friend away before they all started to converge on it's location.

I swear, some triggers in GW let the whole world of doom come right down on your head. If they could, every freaking monster in the whole map would start to run towards you.

And I really hate it. Feels like some RTS game (), where it's only you against a whole lot of Zergs. Suddenly they appear from nowhere, left, right, above and just overwhelm you.

Oh well, I made it.
And seems Dhuum is about to have his *** kicked. But guess it will have to wait untill tomorrow. Hopefully someone has some pointers by then.

In any case, untill tomorrow!

I'm talking about what happened today in GW. (Where else, this IS a GW blog, no?)

Diessa challises. Try to repeat it 20 times in a row while closing your eyes and thinking about the fact that only one drops in a run, IF you are lucky.

That's how annoying I felt before I went into CoF with my ritu.
But I soon sobered up. It went well, very well.
Cause you see, in the second level I got a drop.

It got me thinking: people on the wiki talk page complain about the rate of drops. I agree, they rarely drop.
I thought, if I could farm them (like with a 600HP monk/smiter) that I could go quicker.

N O T

I bought a challice from another monk. And I asked him/her, if the two he/she was selling were from a single run. The answer: yes.

So, I wonder why people farm them? I got one drop with a full H/h cleaning out the place, and the monk, who farmed, got two.

Now, was I lucky? Who knows, only time will tell.
Maybe the monk has two or three every run. But if only one drops for me every run, i'm a happy camper, so isn't that the way it was supposed to be?

In any case, i'll keep you updated.

Today I went to the store, to get myself Windows 7 and some other stuff. (Including some frozen gems/nic-nacs.)

It works like a charm, i'm so happy that I can work fast again, without the constant rattling of my hardrive. And I LOVE the little icons on the startbar.

Oh, and I vanquished Wajjun Bazaar this evening. Phew, with only one healer. Still, I made it.
And I got a jadeite shard AND a greenie. A tattered fan.

Now to install Fraps again and my movie maker program, so I can continue on my mesmer movie.

Later all!

(Two blog entries during one day? Feel free to throw rocks at me now.)

Right!

I'm at the new mesmer now.

While I will play the quests and missions quite in the ordinary sequence of events, I'm watching my own story in my mind during this, which is a bit different from the game's.

But nevermind that for now.

This mesmer has traveled with Kihm and Gheraz for now. No Koss, no Dunkoro, no other hero or hench.

While I really loathe dervishes, there is a reason for the usage of Gheraz. She's a Me/D now, too - but not wielding a scythe. I'm not masochistic enough to suffer through that.

I'm using the Elonian newbie skills, plus Wastrel's Demise (and Cry of Pain now, too), and I won't climb the sunspear ladder further than Captain, at most. At least not while on Istan and while getting ready to leave the island. Captain is IIRC the requirement for the Consulate Docks mission, and I don't want to throw rocks into my way.

To increase the fun, I'm not going to upgrade anything but the chest armor and the leggins, while on Istan. Plus perhaps any upgrades that collectors can offer.

While I wasn't sure what the paragon actually did for the team's progress, I am very sure what this mesmer does. Because you can't tell me that Gheraz and Khim wipe the floor with the mobs.

I'm at the point now where I'm recruiting Melonni - and there's the first instance of "required hero: Koss"... erm. This will be amusing with the lvl 3 Koss baby that I've got stored somewhere. But it's alright.

Most fun so far:

Killing Beautiful Ibogas. Every fight was quite some challenge. I had Dunkoro (accompanying NPC from his primary quest) with me, and I don't think that the lvl 6 henchs and me at lvl 6 could've done it without him.

Killing crazed harpies for the Diamond in the Dough. I needed perfect pulling maneuvres here. This was even more difficult than normally, because I haven't found a long- or flatbow yet! Pulling with a recurve bow while survivoring. Fun!

The Great Fire Flower in Zehlon Reach. Khim had died during General Morgahn's little fighting exercise. Gheraz had resurrected her. Khim died again during the fight near the NPC that offers this quest, and I had resurrected her. Well, Khim died again at the fight against a couple of necro skales not much later. I decided to do this quest anyway - and it worked!

The important thing is to be extremely careful and hopefully very precise with the hexing, at all times. No more shoddy skill usage as I did with the paragon.

Well, this is fun.

I won't do all side quests now, because I want to leave Istan relatively early.

Even more fun:

I've added Odurra for the partysize = 8 areas (Gheraz, Khim, Odurra, me). This actually seems to be sufficient, although there were moments of panic.

Like when a bunch of lvl 15 ancient undead started spiking me with Deathly Swarms.

Deaths of the henchs are quite likely. Monsters prefer Khim, of course, but they'll settle for Gheraz, too. I guess Me/Mo or Me/P would have been the smarter choice, as the team has been running out of res sigs quite a few times now. I tend to keep going then though, and hope for a morale boost or whatever.

The level 15 henchs from Kodlonu made me (lvl 12 and lowbie gloves, mask, boots) the primary target, so I had to resort to cowardly tactics: Hiding even behind Odurra, who's the backline of this team - Khim likes to run forward and to attack foes, while Gheraz is still wondering what "I'm targetting XY" is supposed to mean... in that regard, Khim is just like Alesia at the height of her moments of glory.

Doing the "critters of Dhuum (eh?) attack Kamadan" mission, I had fun with lvl 3 Khim and lvl 3 Gheraz vs those lvl 12 monsters. Luckily, the NPCs were helping me when I had to solo the last few scythes.

Recruiting Jin with the same henchs was also a tad bit difficult and led to me soloing Jin. Luckily, Gheraz and Khim had helped me to take out Sousuke, before they were gone.

I'm having fun with this.

But I think that Abasi might be just the man for another party slot, in the nearby future. I need some corsair involvement. That can wait until after I recruited Tahlkora, and until I'm almost ready to leave this island, though.

Update:

Sooo... Tahlkora is the hero that I will use regularly now. That's simply because I just don't believe in the protective powers of Healing Breeze and Orizon of Healing. This adventure here is meant to be hard, but not to be hopelessly so.

However, Tahlkora won't be using eliteskills until I do.

And we will of course break up on Shingjea Island, at least until I arrived at the camp in the Lagoon map.

So. Gheraz, Odurra, Tahkora (with a not very functional bar and no secondary yet) and me can win the Defiled Monument quest. That's nice to know.

But I think that I'll allow myself another henchman for the Blacktide Den mission. Abasi, obviously. He won't provide too much help, but he's got another res signet and is another body shield for Tahlkora.

Tahlkora has a disabled Rebirth as well.

Right. If I survive Blacktide Den, then I'll just rush along the following primary quests until the other continents are unlocked, and then be off.

And off to Shing Jea Island!
So, I got through Blacktide Den. With Abasi as the 5th member of the squad, it was actually extremely easy (more body shields made Tahlkora happy).

As the other heroes before, Tahlkora leveled obscenely fast during her quest and her mission, so she caught up with my own level very quickly.

Anyway, I then kept Abasi around, because Mehtanni Keys is just a bit too close to the edge with just Gheraz as the only amazing damage dealer (everyone knows that mesmers don't do any damages, so Odurra and me didn't count, of course.)

I also kept him around because I had the feeling that he and his shady past would be the reason why Tahlkora and me ended up in Shing Jea Island not much later - but that was actually not correct.

Instead, apparently Gheraz sold us out! *gasp*

At least, he happened to be with us when we arrived in Kaineng's Docks, and then he suspiciously disappeared. :P

I guess the conflict between his preachings about holy vocations and my mesmer escalated.

Yeah well. Tahlkora and me are now split off for the moment, so I walked to Shing Jea Monastery, downgraded my armor to AL 15, sold my amazing Istani shield and wand, and went off to the corsair outpost (the one with the two bosses, west of the newbie village outpost) to be rescued by Taya and Mai. They did that very well (even though the level difference is sort of ridiculous), and now they're bringing me to Togo because they don't understand common Elonian language.

My primary objective now is to get Tahlkora out of the other corsair camp, but I'll follow the Shing Jea newbie missions as well.

The students of Shing Jea Monastery are an odd sort. Most have glowing hands or hands that look as if they had been burned.

So, I didn't stay there for long and went to Minister Cho's Estate.

Right. Factions suffered from the same fault as Oblivion did - the player isn't the hero, but the (glorified) errand boy; or the (glorified) acolyte in the case of GW.

Cutscenes featuring some NPC, while the player character is even off-screen? Uhhm, that's not a good design.

Anyway, the mission is done (in 11:43), and Taya, Mai and me are getting along quite fine now. Communication between us is mostly sign-language though.

(sidenote: I take a melee along so that not everyone goes for the monk. A monk that runs around in panic is not a good asset. While I've done the tanking role myself before, especially in HM, I do not think that this is a good idea when I'm conciously downgrading my armor or conciously not upgrading my whole armor, at least.

But I do think now that a pet might actually do the job better than a Gheraz or a Mai... The pet is easier to convince that it shall run and attack (without the monk running to the frontline, while the melee is pondering what my command was supposed to mean); the pet does not accumulate DP; and I can revive the pet easily even from great range. Not to forget: if the pet dies, the monk won't go into a "must revive this poor tank now IMMEDIATELY while we're still in combat"-frenzy.

But well, thanks to the indoctrination done by Gheraz and co., I'm a Me/D for now.

A pet doesn't have a res sig, though. But there might be less need for monk revival action if the melee actually worked like a tank.)

Update

Headmaster Kaa had sent Taya, Mai and me to a visit of the library near Seitung Harbour. In Seitung, I met a ranger called Jin in a tavern. Contrary to most of the other Canthans, Jin actually did speak a bit of my language. Turns out that she knew of another corsair outpost, somewhere to the east. She said that she knew the way.

Since I know from this odd Pakuma fellow that there's rumour of another Elonian somewhere on this island, also captured by the corsairs, I immediately thought that this might be where Tahlkora was.

Well, Taya and Mai had a little chat with Jin in their birdlike language which I don't really understand, and then they agreed that we should just let this ranger find the way for us.

Maybe I shouldn't trust just everyone I meet in taverns though.

This journey was remarkably... odd.

Firstly, we got lost. Among literally dozens of crazed birdmen, Jin suddenly befriended a tigercat. Taya didn't seem to be very impressed with this new member of the party, and they started argueing. This also meant a lot of deaths of the lot of them, and I only could revive one of them until I had another morale boost... well, we ended up going back into Seitung Harbor.

Jin changed a few skills, and so did I, and then we went back into Yaya Bluffs, heading east this time.

It went a lot better this time, but Taya and Jin kept argueing and sniping remarks at each other during the entire trip. Mai was quiet as always but also annoyed. Annoyed at that stupid tiger, at Jin lagging behind to do some preparations, annoyed when Jin didn't resurrect them fast enough, and even annoyed at the weird spirits of shelter and union that Jin used.

But the annoyance aside - we found Tahlkora in that corsair camp!

She's in a really bad shape though, no wonder, given that she's been with those pirates for weeks now, and I think we should bring her back to the monastery or to Seitung for now. Anywhere with healers.

When we headed to the nearest outpost, Taya threw a total hissyfit when we didn't avoid some weird ritualist boss naga. Nobody died, but she says that she told us to avoid that one and we didn't listen...

So, she left immediately when we had entered the next town. She took Mai with her, too.

I'm going to ask Togo what to do now. He's in that library just east of Seitung, and it's on the way when we bring Tahlkora to there.

Well. In Zen Dajium (that's the name of that small town), I met this Panaku person again. When he heard that I needed to head back to Seitung, he volunteered to travel with us, and he even had a monk friend at hand. Someone named Tai. Jin and me joined up with them.

(13:39 for that mission with this team (Sister Tai, Panaku, Jin, me)? While the stupid tiger was stuck somewhere far back and I wasted time trying to get it back? All this while Zunraa had died early on and I never got around to get another one? Whoa.)

Togo told me that he knew of some phantastic healer who resides in a town named Lion's Arch. The journey to there shouldn't take longer than a week or so, if we take the fastest ship from Seitung.

Tyria. That's where Erudine lives, Odurra's sister. She had told me to travel and visit her one day when I told her that my secondary profession didn't really suit me at all (while Gheraz was out of earshot, for once.) Erudine supposedly knows of some way to change the secondary profession.

Well... with Canthans speaking in that funny incomprehensible tongue, with Istan full of sunspear fanatics and "holy warriors" and corsairs and corruption... maybe Tyria isn't such a bad choice. And Tahlkora really needs a healer.

Update - I've arrived at Lion's Arch

Tahlkora is better now. At least, she isn't delusional anymore. She is still weak and exhausted though.

On the ship, I met an Elonian fighter named Koss. He was quite full of himself and plans to travel to an area called Ascalon, because he wants to join the king's finest. He heard that they are always looking for great heroes like himself, and that they have special shiney swords.

Oh, Jin stayed back at Seitung Harbor. She says that she wants to show "that monk" (Taya) how much her tiger really kicks butt. Good luck to her.

Anyway, we are in Lion's Arch now. I met that "excellent" monk that Togo talked about. I don't know... he looks like a newbie to me with him being level 6 only, but at least he is an Elonian. Yes, I am prejudiced against those foreigners (well, natives). He also does decidedly not look like a corsair.

Tahlkora said that it's fine and that she trusts him and that I should move on to Erudine, because that's so important for me. So, I'm going to leave her to the Mending and Watchful Spirit that this Dunkoro fellow said he would use to heal her.

So, I am actually going to join the team that this Koss has set up. Erudine is in Ascalon, too. I don't know if I can trust him, but I am quite sure that I could just hex him very badly if he tries anything. I owe that to headmaster Kaa and his lessons.

Oh, and I got me a new dress! Finally, a dress that covers my legs again and that keeps me warm. Honestly, those Canthans don't know how to dress properly. And besides looking ridiculous and quite indecent, those short skirts got really cold with their low temperatures and snow and stuff.

(this dress "update" means a downgrade from AL 45 to AL 30, but nevermind.)

Update, just out of Lion's Arch

Koss really is full of himself.

He's also accompanied by a pink flamingo, for some reasons.

Well, our new monk, Alesia, doesn't seem to mind. We also have another mesmer on board. His name is Dunham.

All is going well so far, and Koss is acutally gaining levels quite quickly now. Maybe soon he'll catch up with the level of Alesia and Dunham.

If nothing else, he's useful to Shatter Hexes from.

And he, or rather Dunham, actually know the way to Ascalon. At least, we're heading east now instead of getting lost somewhere.

(Another side note... I've noobed down the hero skillbars considerably, and none of them is going to use any elite before I (in shape of this character here) have captured it or at least crossed a boss that had this elite skill. So, no Koss lvl 3 baby with Eviscerate anymore.

I will probably have to walk over to EotN soon though, so that the character can meet Ogden in Borli's Pass on the way back out of Ascalon... but I'm not in a hurry.

It might also be nice to have more heroes available just to meet them at some point - Hayda and Xandra come to mind in that regard; but since I won't upgrade my armor to the max level anytime soon, I don't think that roaming around in EotN would be such a good idea at this point. Once I've got max armor from Droknar's Forge (probably), we'll see.)

Istan is done. Well, except the Ashigun quest, the quest of the ghost, the drunken shrauben and some other Lahtenda Bog re-runs.

I'm also lvl 20 now.

Instead of doing any more Lahtenda Bog revisits or Consulate Docks, I ran off to Tyria, because that seemed to be the most natural thing to do.

Now I'm a bit at a loss though.

What do my survivors do at this point?

Right. Lets see.

Bottlenecks:

- (Consulate Docks: that ele boss was naughty)
- Vizunah Square: the final cutscene is murderous
- Tyrian Ascension: do I actually have any idea for that, as a paragon?

... alright, I think, I wandered into the wrong direction in Tyria. I should head towards Sanctum Cay/Augury Rock instead of towards Beacon Perch/Ascalon.

I seem to remember that I rolled a P/R just for the ascension in Tyria. Something about the pet going for the guts of the dopple.

And well, it can't hurt to have a variable secondary profession for Tyria's skill quests.

After Ascension (hopefully, without any incidents), it should be Vizunah Square.

And after that... whatever gets the XP flow running.

That's all nice and swell, but I don't even know if I want to play this character up to the s(3). It's a good way to get back into the game, but it's ultra-easy mode.

Even though I did the Assault on Beknur Harbor at lvl 18ish with this character, no pseudo-MMs among the available heroes either, and no casualties, I still don't know if I actually provide much of a help for the team.

Go figure.

... and there's that warrior (who turned out to be quite fun), that ranger (whom I don't want to play rightnow at all), and that lvl 3 mesmer (whom I'm a bit itching to play with) sitting around.

Also 2 older mesmers who might get some HM or EotN action for full 27 title goodness.

Speaking of those: I think I'll switch to Lytha Velour for the DWC mesmer outings. Juliania doesn't need any of those dungeons and stuff anymore (except the Deep or some DOA), Lytha Velour does.

Juliania still didn't get her black moa chick though. That's something else left to be done.

And then there's of course the mother of the mesmer twins, who isn't even a proper triple skillhunter or triple protector yet (!). All that just because she's no survivor. Feh to this rank discrimination! :P

(All we’ve ever wanted
God save me rejection
From my reflection,
I want perfection) -Yes, that's for you Gabe!-

Well, while listening to this song i'm thinking about what happened today. I slept way to lang, thus felt badtempered and sick (due to hormones being confused.) almost the whole day.

I was kinda mad I couldn't farm for my blindfold, now logging off I know what I missed. I did buy 2 challises for 4K already though. Yes, I have no patience.

I vanquished Bukdek Byway and recorded a piece for my mesmer movie. It's going to be beautiful!

I did the Zbounty (Myish, Lady of the Lake) on two of my characters since it was so "easy". Once in nm on my monkit and on HM for my mesmer. In HM... patrols everywhere around her. Put a finger on her and you have like 20 Djins coming from everywhere!

So I picked them off one by one. They were so kind to line up at first, coming from the left, and taking a left turn just where I was. One by one. The AI has courtesy to it seems!

To end the day, I had to protect Gabe and his friend. Survivor. I was nervous as hell, cause I know how he plays...

I had to laugh so hard, cause I only noticed his reaction AFTER I typed mine. He KNEW! He knew he played just on the edge, making me run from one side to the other! Next time i'm just going to run away and get myself killed. Wait... newbie island. 500HP... Nevermind. :sealed:
I dread for the day another dialogue pops up and he gets crazy idea's again.

To close this post, I found some conversation in LA funny. Kids...

It reminds me of some other kids (monks) we encountered in ToA once on a ritu event.

"Help, hez going to eateh my monkit!"
"Save meh!"

lol, save meh is the one thing I remember, just pronounce it... It sounds so... theatrical in a weird way.

Think I'm going to play that song in the background when vanquishing. It does have "something" that I can't put my finger on.

Hmm, maybe I should make a list once...
Yeah, yeah I could do that...

Some Stuff i wrote about Warriors/Warrior tactics in PvP:

Quaterknocking
Quaterknocking is a way used to keep your foe knocked down twice in succession with so little time in between that he doesn’t have time enough to stand up and use a single skill, not even a 0.25 second cast Patient spirit.

Quaterknocking can be done in various ways, but this example will have quaterknocking that depends on the skills Bulls Strike and Shock. Merely keeping your foe knocked down is a big advantage but it is an even bigger one if you can deal damage to your foe while he is knocked down and unable to defend himself. This means that you need to know what your attack speed currently is and therefore how many hits you can land before having to knock down your foe again. Having a Stonefist insignia gives you knock downs that last 3 seconds. So this is the time frame in which you have to act.

Quarter knocking with Bulls Strike and Shock using Sword or Axe
Using Bulls Strike with Shock means that in order to quaterknock you have to use Bulls Strike first, since using it second will not fulfill the requirement of hitting a moving foe. The chain we will look at in the first example is the use of Bulls Strike followed by Dismember followed by Shock.

What you need to accomplish by quarter knocking is to knock down your foe at the right moment. Not too soon, because then your knock down will hit while your foe is already knocked down and it will not trigger, use it too late and the foe will have time to act and it will not be a quarter knock.

With no attack speed boost you will hit once every 1.33 seconds with a sword or an axe. This means that after hitting with bulls strike you can hit twice and have spent 2.66 of the 3 seconds that is your timeframe. Shock has 0.75 second cast which means that if you hit twice and then use shock, the second knockdown will occur after your foe has had 0.41 seconds standing up. If however you wait for around 1 second after hitting with your first attack after Bulls the knock down from shock will hit when your opponent have only had 0.08 seconds standing up, not enough time to do anything.

Using a 33% increased attack speed stance, such as frenzy, means that you land an attack once every 0.88 seconds. This means that after having landed 3 attacks you will have used 2.64 of the 3 second knock down, and following the second hit with shock will trigger the knock down after 3.39 seconds and your foe has therefore had 0.39 seconds standing up. You do however have time to land two attacks, which will only use up 1.76 seconds of the knockdown, followed by shock the second knock down will land after 2.51 seconds and not trigger a second knock down, but if you wait for roughly 0.5 seconds after hitting with your second attack you will succeed.

Quarter knocking with increased attack speed (IAS) is hard because hitting with Bulls Strike and triggering knock down will usually involve the use of a stance that increases movement speed (IMS). Few stances, with Primal Rage being the exception, gives you both IAS and IMS, so you will have to cancel your IMS stance with an IAS stance if you are using one to hit with Bulls. This, along with the needed fast reaction of quarter knocking with a sword or an axe, makes it considerably harder than with a hammer.

Quater knocking with Hammer
You can also quaterknock while using a Hammer, this is more convenient in many cases due to the abundance of knock down skills in the hammer line. Hammers however also have a slower attack time, 1.75 seconds between attacks which with 33% faster attack speed makes 1.155 second attack speed. The attack chain we will be looking at here will be the normal Devastating Hammer, followed by Crushing Blow, followed by Heavy Blow.

With no IAS, you will have a problem, because hitting with Heavy Blow immideately after Crushing Blow will trigger a knock down 0.5 seconds after the person have had time to stand up (1.75 x 2 = 3.5, for the math interested). This means that if you want to hit your foe while knocked down, and still be able to quarter knock him, you have to use an IAS stance, flail is the obvious choice here because you wont have to move when your opponent is knocked down.

Now by using an IAS to decrease the time between attacks to 1.155 seconds we get the opportunity to quarter knock, the pause we have to make is 0.7 seconds. This will land the second knock down 0.01 second after your foe has gotten onto his feet, making it completely impossible to use anything else than stances and instantly activating skills in between. Since this is a long pause, you loose most damage but it is also considerably easier which is why hammers are most frequently used for quarter knocking.

Damage Loss Comparison
Quarter knocking with axe or sword without IAS will cost you a pause of 1 second which will cost you ~75% of one hit. With IAS you will loose ~57% of one hit. Using a hammer you have to use IAS to quaterknock and will loose ~60% of one hit. The Average damage of hammers, swords and axes means that the damage loss in stopping your attacks when quarter knocking is:

Axe	17,2
Axe (IAS)	13,1
Sword	19,5
Sword (IAS)	14,8
Hammer	22,2

Quater-rupting
Quaterrupting is similar to quaterknocking except that instead of a second knockdown you use an interruption skill. The most used skills are Savage Slash, which, conveniently has a 0.5 second activation 0.33 with 33% IAS, Agonising Chop with 1 second activation, 0.66 with 33% IAS and Disrupting Chop with 1.33 sec activation, 0.88 with 33% IAS.

By now you should be familiar with the pausing and resuming of attacking with quarter knocking and quarter-rupting works just like it. So I will simply state the pauses that you have to make when quarter-rupting with or without IAS.

Savage Slash: 2 Hits->Savage Slash, Interrupt 0.16 sec after getting up, no pause needed.
Savage Slash (33% IAS): 2 Hits->1.1 sec Pause->Savage Slash, Interrupt 0.19 sec after getting up.
Agonising: 1 Hit->0.8 sec Pause->Agonising Chop, Interrupt 0,13 sec after getting up.
Agonising (33% IAS): 2 Hits->0,7 sec Pause->Agonising Chop, Interrupt 0,12 sec after getting up.
Disrupting: 1 Hit->0.5 sec Pause->Disrupting Chop, Interrupt 0,16 sec after getting up.
Disrupting (33% IAS): 2 Hits->0.5 sec Pause->Disrupting Chop, Interrupt 0,14 sec after getting up.

How to deal with block

If you want to kill someone you need to be able to counter their blocking. In the monk case we will assume that the monk has Guardian and a blocking stance that lasts 3 seconds.
The blocking stance is not really counter able since it lasts too short to be worth removing but it has the advantage of a 15 second recharge which means that once you see it activated you know that you have 3 seconds where you cant hit and 12 seconds where you can.
Guardian is a pesky skill for warriors since it both reduces the damage and the adrenaline built, the best way to deal with it is to interrupt it with either Savage Slash or Shock. Shock has the convenience that it will hit even if the monk is already under a block effect from a stance or previous cast Guardian.

You can use the convenient 3 second knock down with shock to make sure that the monk wont be able to use the 3 seconds of block from his stance for anything other than lying on the ground, and then follow up with a quarter-rupt or quarter knock to catch the pesky Guardian that will follow as soon as he gets up. After this you will have at least 5 seconds block free environment to work your pain at the monk, if you can get him to kite before that its even better since you can then use Bulls Strike to knock him down again.

Alternately the monk might not start out with his blocking stance but try to get a guardian through first, in this case you let him cast and count down 5 seconds before using shock to knock him down. This will most often ensure that Shock will go through guardians block and interrupt the guardian that the monk is about to renew. Once this is accomplished unleash your damage and quarter-rupt whatever skill he would want to use after getting up, which is likely to be a condition removal to remove deep wound or a heavy heal such as Word of Healing.

Warrior Stances
A warrior should allways bring two stances, usually one stance is for IAS while the other is for IMS, in a few examples it is not so simple.

What you have to consider when choosing your stance pair is the following: What drawbacks does this pair have and how does it fit my situation. What requirement does my stances have and what recharge.

Stances can either require adrenaline or energy. Haveing stances that requires adrenaline means that you have more energy to spend on other more crucial skills but it also means that when you activate them you loose 1 hit of adrenaline in all your other adrenaline skills, mainly attacks, which you have to regain in order to resume your chain, this is crucial to remember when you are executing a spike. Energy based stances have the drawback that you may have to cancel your stance soon which leads to a wasted 5 energy. Usually it is advisable to have one adrenaline based and one energy based stance. The most common stance pairs and their drawbacks and advantages are the following:

Frenzy/Rush
The Advantage of this pair is that your IAS does not inhibit your performance, you do not deal less damage and you are not slowed. The extra vulnerability also means that you can lure foes to attack you instead of other more vulnerable targets and you can cancel your stance makign you a heavy target at any time. Thus you can force your opponents to retarget more. The Drawbacks is that you can not start out with a speed boost which in Fx AB makes it harder to move between shrines.

Enraging Charge/Flail
The advantage here is that enraging charge can be used when you are on your spear/shield set to build up adrenaline fast. Flail has the advantage of costing adrenaline so for a hammer warrior you can use it just before using crushing blow and gain back the adrenaline you lost by hitting with crushing blow (which cost Energy). Your opponent also cant flee when knocked down so the movement inpairing of Flail is not as noticeable. The drawbacks is that Enraging charge has a long recharge which means that it is harder to cancel Flail with Echarge in the long run, thus kiting makes you more immobile if your KD spike fails and in general you have a harder time retargeting.

Sprint/Flail
This combination allows you to move fast initially for example while moving between shrines in AB, and sprint have a lower recharge making you in general more mobile, if used however and withotu a knock lock it should mostly see use on Cripslash bars where crippling your oponent makes you able to keep hitting even while under the effect of the slowing from Flail.

Primal Rage/Rush
Primal Rage comes in a nice package because it gives you two stances in one, with the same drawbacks rechargewise as Sprint and damage wise it gives you the same benefits as Frenzy. You shold only cancel PR if you are taking too heavy damage. This means you have to think less when using PR because you dont have to take enemy kiting into account when you are in PR. Smart people will often force to have you cancel PR early and then wait for it to recharge while ignoring you.

Cancel Stance
As a warrior it is very crucial for you to be in the correct stance at the correct time. Of course being in frenzy comes with a nice unconditional 33% increased attack speed, which means that foes who are stationary (or knocked down) take 33% more damage than they otherwise would. However being hit while under frenzy also hurts twice as much, fortunately you often have rush on your bar. Rush has the advantage of charging up really fast when you are in frenzy, since you will land 4 hits in 3.52 seconds, this means that you can overwrite frenzy if you are under heavy damage or if you see an Elementalist preparing a heavy spell. This is not necessary if you are protected by your monk however and there is no reason to cancel frenzy with rush if you are protected with protective spirit.
Frenzy doesn’t however give you any speed boost which means that kiting foes wont take the extra 33% damage, in which case it is of course useful to activate rush unless you have crippled your foe with crippling slash or equivalent.

- Evil Mime
- Fish of the day
- Rising Sons
- ... that quest with the "magical compass"
- ... that quest with the sunspear whom I need to escort to the docks for some coercion of some fishermen

And I got the Moavukal quest.

The only thing I'm missing is the quest from that Ashigun kid. I suppose he had some requirements further along the road.

My visit of Lahtenda Bog will look similarly. My questlog is already totally cluttered up for it, but there are a few more quests that I can squeeze in.

Lahtenda Bog needs 2-3 visits overall though, at least, plus the mission.

This sucks.

One of the big things that was building up for me, I had let FoW bounties start accumulating on my rit, and after checking the preditions of bounties coming up, I figgured I could do them all in one shot.
For some reason I kept putting them off and putting them off after getting them, but decided I better get it done before the halloween stuff arrived.

So I loaded the rit up with heros, and used one of the secondary accounts, and got some heros on there as well. My rit with full Spirit spam, Dunk, olias, and souske. Healer, MM and Fire/earth. Secondary had ogden, hayda, and vekk. Smiter/prot, shout protection, and water/air.
This was a fairly good combo, and had worked before for the most part.
But I knew there would be problem areas. Notibly, dealing with large groups of monks from the shadows, and any skele group that had to many mesmers and ice casters.
Something that was bugging me, and I should do this from now on if I go to UW, is bring a rez scroll.
Please note, this entire run was in HM, but for the most part, wasn't much of a difference then when noa did it in NM. MObs get maybe 2 more levels, cast or run a bit faster, but for the most part, are about the same I realized.
Again had issues after getting the first quest done, but had to deal with that batch of 4 monks, and then the roving groups came up. TWICE we had to retreat to the forge thing, and let them deagro. Eventually whittling the groups down, and then going and getting the monks. After that it was straight forward.
Did a backway clear on the main forge, and then cleared the forge area out, all while having to deal with a whiny ***** on guild chat who wanted me to abandon my run, so I could come get him, and go back again, so he could show off his masterful splinter barrage build.
Right... 2 hours in and I'm gonna...
right. Not happenin.

Okay, did the back area clear, worked our way to the lava zone, cleared that out, and... damnit, I kept thinking I shoulda done a clear of the worm zone, but my idea was to work on that from the bottem up. Shoulda done it sooner. I'll explain why.
Headed back, ALMOST had a wipe thanks to bad placement and those friggin malstroms, but hayda got away, and her signet of return helped. Shoulda known something like that might happen.
From there it was a matter of clearing out the rest of the area, taking the quests, the dragon litch went down fast, priest of menzies not so fast. Had to move around a lot to avoid barrages. I think we ended up having to just get him to drain himself to where he couldn't heal anymore. Took over 5 min.
Went to forge, once the shadows were cleared, it was an easy run in, then I just set some spirits down to pepper the groups, ended up agroing almost the entire batch on one side, but that actually worked to our advantage, as they got stuck on the ramp, and we just nuked them to death. So we went over, pulled the group on the other side, and was done with forgemaster quest in under 2 min.
GOD I love the new rits.

Headed down to the cave, was an easy run, just flagged the hench back and soloed the giant aloes. Everything else was dead.
So now just needed a few more quests.
Did the lord kohbay one pretty easy, then headed to the forest, cleared that out through the backway, did a lot of soloing there so I could maximize drops. Died a couple times, but was able to make a comeback.
Cleared it out, and then did the wailing lord quest. I entirely soloed that, and found the banshees dropped some underworld goods, including a couple eternal bows, one of which was max damage, 9 req, and +14^50. There's a keeper.
Did a clearing of the path back to the first forge location, and then an escort service.
7 quests down.

So I decided to head in and do burning forest. At this point I had been running FOW for about 7 hours or so off and on. That's the problem, though an advantage of doing this solo.
All the bounties were taken care of, I just wanted to finish this off.
I had a bad feeling though, and so, in starting that area, I was trying to pull carefully, I was taking point, agroing, dropping spirits, and then rushing back. This worked out for the solid groups which were only scale or hydra, but when I started getting the mixed groups, I could see some problems.
And sure f'ing enough, it happend. The hydra totally skipped me, skipped the spirits, and went RIGHT for the group. Nailed them with a shower, and I watched the groups HP dropping by large chunks. I flagged them away, trying to cover, but it was to late, they were also degened by one of the scale. I watched hayda and vekk as the last to die out, and I was left... all alone. cursing and cursing and cursing some more.
Crying even.

Well... ****.
So... only 3 groups left, so... I gathered my wits, and proceeded to solo the remaining groups of hydra and scale, in HM.
And I did it. A testmant to how powerful rits really are now.
And I got the quest, and did that as well.
The final quest... involved that last forge area in the worm pits area.
THe area I didn't clear.

The area with groups of 4 barrage rangers and 2 monks each.
ANY other group design I might be able to handle. Not this one.
SPirits get *****, and any damage gets instant healed.
I got one group's monk killed, but the other monk rzzed him.
Eventually I had to give up and get killed.
ONE goddamn quest away from completing an entire FOW run. SOLO.
Siiigh.

Live and learn I guess. Lythia chastized me for knowing better, and that I should have flagged a hero back for emergancy rezzing. Hell, if I had spread them out a bit that would have done the trick, but it was getting late, and I was getting tired.

Anyway, I did get 7 silver coins worth from the bounty. If I really want to get FOW done, I should just join a speed clear group. But that's starting to become a dirty word around here.

Anyway... on with the rest of the stuff.
On other account, I needed the blister bounty, and that chara needed the cap as well. So I hijacked the devourer siege, and headed in.
Since we had already killed a few other bosses, this one racked a sizeable chunk of rep. AND... I get the green!
Nice run there.

During the dragon mission z quest, it enabled me to get this bonus done finally.
Here's my warrior getting ready to face off against glint. Running my Dwarven hammer stance, she got no chance.

I dunno. a rit I have at Longeyes. Probably for the Against the Charr bounty.

Some of the water djinn over at the djarian estate. I allways did like them, and wish more could be on your side. Just looking at them for to long burns your eyes. You do have to admire any being that can pull of the underboob look well.

Just before the halloween stuff arrived, I got my dirvish out, who's pretty much become the party crap holder, and had her doing her halloween dirvish dance, which seemed to create a party wherever she did it, which was nice. I also was selling halloween tot bags for 500g, but then dropped them down to 3 for 1k, which had them sell much faster then.
I kept doing this even more so when the decor arrived, but before the bags started dropping. After that, prices went down to 200-300g each.
And then the quest arrived...

While doing a run on one chara, I saw this.
Just... wow... oh wow.
A yeti with a heart transplant!

Here's a few solo run shots, sarah asking for her daughter.
One thing I learned when doing the 3rd and 4th quests with people, do NOT let them bring gwen down. I did that once, read the dialouge, and that was enough for me.

F'ing BONE pits...
As you can see I'm on the backside of the run, heading out. The single looking dot is a duo. I hate when they're that close like that because it makes targeting them singly near impossible, and sometimes the tab moves to the wrong target.
So I have to wait for them to leave.

Saurian scythe works well with teh candy corn look I think.

MEANWHILE, AT THE HALL OF JUSTICE...

ER... JUDGEMENT.

AND finally, mad king.

Now... unlike previous years, where I looked forward to his appearances, I actually wasn't really into his showings that much this time. I could get far more bags doing one 10 min run then standing there 30 min waiting for him to dispence out bags at a leisurely pace like allways. I got the hats on both accounts, and was done with it.

At the tail end of the quest thing, I decided to run a surviver chara through the quests, and once she got through with the 2nd quest, I could just drop a bunch of stones on her, and get at least another 200k exp if not more.
My reasoning behind this was, I'd use at least a blue candy to help recharge quicker, run faster, and if things were bad, just guild port out. This is hoping that my connection wouldn't crap out entirely, which it did on more then one occasion. WHere DSL would just... totally loose connection, and then get back on after 5-10 min.
It wasn't happening a lot, but it did happen now and then I had to watch it.
BUT... I started it to late, and got ported to chahbek village.
Great. Quest over.

So I went and cashed in the remaining stoppers, and by the time it's done, I have over 10 stacks of tot bags on one account, another 4 and a half on the other.
Unlike the wintersday bags, these won't go for much down the road, so... I may as well open them and chow down.
Time to fill up some sweet bars.
Dunno who I'll choose for going drunk with.

It was fast, furious, but most of all, fun.

But not a single shard though.
The drops (for the most part) were terrible.

And so is farming.
You see, I tried out the 330hp ritu build to be able to get some quick cash? Nada.
I somehow forgot Anet implemented a code that prevents farming on a big scale. So, the drops I got were even less then in FoW. :embarassed:
6K, gone in the wind...

On the good side, I've started working on my mesmer movie. And it's going to be fabulous!
The music is right, and the script isn't to bad either. (I think)

So hopefully I can get some pleasure out of that still.

Meh, tomorrow a new day! ^^

Yesterday I had a fun time vanquishing the last two area's for my title of Tyrian Vanquisher.

I started with Perdition Rock and ended with Miniral Springs.
And PR was HEAVEN to vanquish! It felt like part of UW/FoW and they went down SO easy! Easier then the Tengu in Miniral Springs. It was, if I had done Perdition as a final area (like you would do the campaign itself), that it was intentional kept easy as a reward for all the hard work. :azn:

In any case, I made it. I'm SO relieved now. I don't know if I'll start with Cantha today, since I want to take a little "break" from VQ.

Some of the things I want to do now:

Get my FoW gloves (today normally)

Advance my monkit, so I can turn her into a 55/600 perhaps.

Maybe make Mal a 55 to farm Hydra's/UW/whatnot.

Or find a farming build for my ritu.

Do some dungeons I missed. (Shards of Orr, Managerie, and another one -forgot name-)

Speaking of ritualists. WoW! Have they become powerfull! Spamming spirits has never been so fast and so furious! Get them up and watch the numbers float all over your screen. FUN! But I do wonder WHY they buffed them so hard? PvP? It would be a first if they didn't nerf other proffessions bad for the sake of PvE.
I guess for once they overlooked the fact that they "damaged" PvE once again. I wonder how long it will take before they feel sorry and nerf the ritu again. And this time only in PvE...

I used my ritualist to gather the chests in Nightfall to gather 15K. Easy and fast as hell.
So today I can get my FoW gloves and put my set in my HoM.
I so love collecting armors for my mesmie. :cloud9:

And the weather outside is still wet, windy, cold and "dark".
Fall, I welcome your presence into our world. How's Grenth?

I got the Wii Fit Plus two days ago and I want to write a dhort review for you, if you are considering buying the "expansion".

Yes, you heard right, it is an expansion to the original Wii Fit and now it is what the first game should have been a year ago.
The Plus replaces the original game and adds new features:
>> a few new Yoga & Workouts (3 each, so no big deal)
>> a total of 12 new games
>> an automated training program

First, the games: They are fun like a new improved "marble board" or the snowball fights. There is a jump & run game, which I find pretty difficult. There a quite a few games where you have to walk on the Balance Board and although that piece of equipment is sturdy, I fear that those games might reduce the total lifetime of the board.
The automated training program is nice, because you just have to say that you want to train e.g your waist and legs and the program selects a workout for you

If you already own a Wii Fit game and liked it, consider buying the Wii Fit Plus. If you plan to buy a Balance board, try to get one with Wii Fit Plus and not with Wii Fit.
