Oh no! I'm not accepted! ;)

I assume you're going to hand the names to Elly or Gaile for the private forum. Could you make certain mine is spelled right?

I'll try to be as charming is I usually am.

Welcome to the guild.

Thank you and howdy all! http://www.rpgforums.net/images/smilies/lady.gif http://www.rpgforums.net/images/smilies/howdy.gif

I guess you'll be wanting a member profile, then? Is that thread with the profiles in it still around here someplace? Took a quick look around but didn't find it - could someone maybe point me to it...?

Edit: I found the "Profiles needed" thread, and will be posting there shortly.

lol dont tell me these guys get on the forum before I do lol. Why am i always the last? Last one in my group ot hear about the alpha, last one to get into the private forums.. lol. Oh well, good things come to those who wait!

And I take it my anti-Kirsty rallying was not good enough. jk of course!

JayDog - Were you on and in the guild this past weekend? The polls in the private forums are already gone, so I do not know if you were voted no or voted no by default as a no show.

Well I'm assuming I didn't get voted in for some reason or another. Oh well, was looking forward to playing with you guys.

The reason you were not added because we did not vote on you. Someone said that Friday of the last WPE you messaged them to be added. I think "Ren the Dog" was the name? Anyway, what ever name it was, I invited you to the guild friday afternoon sometime. Sunday evening you still had not accepted the invite. We could not vote on someone we do not know or played with. We also require a certain level of activity.

You applied to join us January 9th. You next post was Feb. 22nd, after the last BWE. On Feb. 22nd you made a post about being invited as "Jaydog" but I replied to that post saying you could not have because the game does not allow single word character names.

UndeadBehlial
04-03-2005, 19:33
ok, i wasnt sure if ren the dog was him or not, thanks for clearing that up xircon :)

Also, this thread begs the question. What, if anything, did we decide as far as a cushion cap? I know it was discussed, some people liked it in case we had a best friend who wanted to play that we know would be really good for the guild, others said why should person X be better than person Y. But was a consensus reached? Also are all of our members active?

There are about 5 or so people that I have not seen playing, even talking on the guild chat (but I admit I havent played with everyone). Maybe since we are filling up we can start issuing following up and/or issuing warnings?? Maybe some people decided to play something else or just not play GW? I think we're looking for very high-quality members, and now that we have 38, we can actually start looking at members and thinking "is this the best place for them to be." Just a thought. I dont want to call people out, because i'm sure i'd list people who are online and just dont use the guild chat and whom I do not play with as inactive, and the last thing I want is to offend anyone.

JayDog
04-03-2005, 19:36
It must be someone else who you're thinking of. Because I was invited into the guild by you on Saturday and accepted, and played some quests with some of the other guild members. I think Sunday everyone was playing PVP, so I kind of stayed out of it, because didn't feel that experienced yet.

JayDog
04-03-2005, 19:41
Also wanted to add that i'm in x-ray school so I can't play as hardcore as other players due to tests and such, but I still can devote 5-10 hours a week to games. If this amount of playing time a week is too little i understand.

Something to be noted: A few people had computer problem at the last minute, internet down, schedule changed, etc...As Undead mentioned, we should probably issue following up/warning and give them a second chance. By the way, if I recalled correctly Jay Dog, Minelle, Kirsty and Muff were doing missions in the seared Ascalon.

And I take it my anti-Kirsty rallying was not good enough. jk of course!Always you! :p

Jay was a temporary member since Saturday because he and Minelle offered to help me get through the Surmia place. I think we played with either Tsume or Muff as fourth on the team... not certain who. We also played shortly with Jay on Sunday.
I think the problem here is that Jay didn't get to play often with any of the "real" guild members, because you were all either far advanced for our levels, were playing pvp and the boneyard thing (?), or were online at different times.

I think it's also part of the reason why us new guys were to my feeling, often grouped together. I played mostly pve the last BWE and during that I got to team up with at least 5 of the temporary members and I think only 2 real members.

The five temporary members I played with were Minelle, Jay, Muff, Mort (post-searing) and Cantos (pre-searing, I'm in the screenshots!). Two more I'm thinking about are Tactstat and Bangladier, but I think I only met them in the Guild hall and I did play two pvp games when Bangladier was in the team.

The two real guild members I recall playing with in pve were Tsume for one, maybe two missions, and Kaz throughout the entire weekend. Tsume offered his help through some early quests and Kaz helped me with his friends key and did his best to get me a bit acquainted with the game... eventhough I excelled in pre-searing better than him :p.

Through chat I got to hear and talk with the other real guild members and I played two nice gvg games to see you all in action but that's about all I've seen from any of you. You could analise it in a few different ways:

- an error in my choice of party members
Well, for me it went okay because I tried out gvg, but otherwise, in those three days I would have only seen two of the real members. Many of you were far advanced or not online due to timezones, so I asked other members for help. Those happened to be temporary members.
That was probably my bad but I didn't really think about it much because for all but two post-searing and some pre-searing quests, I was never alone during gameplay.

- different interests
I understood that some of you were trying gvg very hard and I've seen the results in the two games I joined and the rise on the ranking, so magnificent job on that one.
Problem is that the gvg took place almost the whole of Sunday evening and I wasn't that interested in it yet since I was a beginner. After some reluctance I did decide to try it and liked it a lot, but some of the new members were more reluctant. I was too afraid that I might mess up because when I did Arena I was wiped out 18 out of 24 times (I got to beat Xircon in a team once though but got beat by some other Dii member, can't recall who). I'm fairly certain that other new people felt the same way and that does mean that they had no chance of meeting many of you on that particular part of the day.

- lack of communication with the real members
I had a quick chat with a few people here and there, but the guild chat was continuously flooded. At times I just disregarded it when I was in the middle of pve unless something seemingly important passed the screen. I can't keep updated with every little story going on in the chat and I noticed that once you start to ignore it and don't say anything, you loose contact. So after a while of getting the feeling that "you're just jealous the voices are talking to ME", I decided to chat back slightly. I can understand people being more interested in what's going on in the game, especially when Rurik is being his selfdestructive self again.

In short (omg-dess I type too much): that none of you met Jay is probably just a problem of circumstance because Minelle and I had a nice time playing with him.

Minelle Tempest

My experiences of the BWE were similar to Kirsty's. I also played with several temp members (in no particular order or place): Mort, Jay, Kirsty, "Prancer", Cantos, and maybe some one else I forgot the name of... The real members I played with are Emo and Shadow (a couple of missions) and Tsume (many missions http://www.rpgforums.net/images/smilies/worship.gif). I also - briefly - spoke to Xircon and Kaz.

Not to much at all Kirsty, and you summed up (quite nicely) how the majority of new members/probation members were feeling this last BWE.

In my eyes...I think we established members performed extremely poorly last weekend, and the reasons there were so much difficulty, are all tied back to our guild being caught up in PvP this previous BWE.

I would hope we are a being lenient towards probation members, especially since on more than one occasion established members have claimed someone as a no show....only to have other members come back and say "he was not a no show". Jay is one of these cases. I did not invite Jay, but I do remember seeing him on. Obviously the bulk of existing members did not play with him (or really...hardly any probation members for that matter) and this has lead to some slight errors and problems, and most unfortunatly, mistakes on are parts.

I'm sorry guys, to you, all of our newer members. I know you didnt get the attention you really deserved and some of you really dont have a fair way to get voted on.

Jay you especially are one of these cases. There just was a lack of involvement and we just cant vote on you yet. Stick with us and next BWE lets get in some real play time with each other (and othes as well) that way we can give you the fair chance you deserve. This seems the only fair way to resolve your situation.

Now to another mater, Kirsty's name didnt make the first addition of the new member list, but rest assured she is a member of the Order of Dii, according to the vote, (just to make clear through all the friendly jiveing that has gone on lol).

Now on a lighter side, I'd like to congratulate all of our newest members and say it was a true pleasure gameing with all of you. I find all of your characters sound and see the potential and attitude you have, and find them to be great contributions to the Order.

 Well met, Heroes and Heroines of Tyria!

Poppycock. Other than just haveing the desire to say the word 'poppycock', I'd like to say that Prancer has got to be one of the least offensive nicknames I have ever heard. And Tact merits this nickname due to his constant imitations of my danceing skills (equivilent to those of the Male Elementalist).
Furthermore, while on the subject of offensive nicknames, anything is better then having someone refer to you as (all young people and Undead skip the next word) "Tits". *casually turns head and locks gaze onty Kirsty* lol. dont worry it doesnt offend me, just thought it was approrpriate to mention it lol (Though, please dont refer to me as it over the guild chat, we do have younger players in this guild as well as pious people who might not like it, in whispers or team chat blow me away though)

I got this feeling as well. Please switch to team chat when you are in a party doing something! That way only people relevant to your chat actually receive it, leave Guild Talk for organizing parties, trades and the like.

Hey, now! If anyone ought to apologize for what did and/or did not happen during the Feb BWE - you, Tsume, are the very last person to do this! After all, you spent a lot of time with us "probies", helping us and whatnot... Really - you are my BWE hero. http://www.rpgforums.net/images/smilies/worship.gif

I think our last BWE was our best one yet. We can't expect everyone to have played together, or even the majority of people to have played together. If people have participated in a lot of BWE then they have likely done the begging quest a lot of time, and it should be no surprise that they would not be egger to do them over again. Confusion also arises when people have no idea who one another are. Just because someone is a probationary member to the guild, it doesn't mean that they have never played the game before, it just seems that this time around most the probation members all wanted to play the game from the begging, meaning that they probably won't be in contact with a lot of the other guild members who have lost their interest in playing the start of the game. I think people make a bigger deal out of things then they actually are.

05-03-2005, 02:17
Now to another mayter, Kirsty's name didnt make the first addition of the new member list, but rest assured she is a member of the Order of Dii, according to the vote, (just to make clear through all the friendly jiveing that has gone on lol). Most people spell the name wrong. Xircon just did it again :). Doesn't really matter though, I understood what he meant and I'm happy to become part of the team.

*Skips the rest of Tsume's post and nods*

I think the current regulars just wanted to try out new things, mostly in pvp or finding skills. There's nothing wrong with that really and I don't blame anyone for not really contacting us every so often (though people did message me, probably not all new people).
We got to play well anyway and we enjoyed ourselves. That's what counts most. That noone really came to our help in pre-searing is okay. Some of us had to learn the game and often it's just best to let new members just fool around a bit. You guys did tell us to message back when we finally got to searing, so I did.
I would have liked it if more people would have helped during searing since it's large party oriented, but partially because we made our own team already was there no room or real need for the guild regulars.

Poppycock. Other than just haveing the desire to say the word 'poppycock', I'd like to say that Prancer has got to be one of the least offensive nicknames I have ever heard. And Tact merits this nickname due to his constant imitations of my danceing skills (equivilent to those of the Male Elementalist).Prancer has something mystique.... like Strider.
On the subject, yeah, I do recall playing with Tact in pve now, lol. Minelle was calling him names all the time. :p

Wise wordsI thought it was a great BWE. I got to see almost every aspect of it, I introduced myself to the guild via a short mass guild message, and I met almost everyone from the guild at least shortly. The quests were great, the parties I played with were fun, I had a few nice talks with some of the regulars, and I'm still infatuated by the graphics.

It may seem like my last post(s) were a bit like I was complaining, but I was trying to search for an answer as to why some players like Jay have gone by almost unnoticed. It should be read only as a mental note to what you might want to do differently next BWE if there are new people joining. Perhaps find someone willing to find these people and keep track of how they're progressing?
Everyone was a class act and I don't think anyone needs to apologize for how things went last BWE. With all the new members you're bound to lose track of one or more.

I feel special, top of 2 lists and an astrix from Undead :) glad to be in the guild officially now. Anyway I didn't seem to have the troubles everyone else was having finding people from the guild except in the pre-searing I found Cantos, but he had no idea where to look for people in the guild and nor did I, but then after that I found Tsume and everything picked up and it was happy days from then on. I got to meet pretty much everyone in the guild so that was good. everyone always got to help me find that infamous Lynx I wanted so badly and so I got to keep Heav, Xirc, Undead and Mort busy for at least a day doing that. The Lynx was good I guess, but next season I want a spider ;)

Also IMO, the best place to find everyone was in the guild hall this last BWE. If there was someone I hadn't met, this would've been the place to go find them and see what everyone is like. I guess this is why everyone was having trouble, as half the guild was usually off finding the next guild to fight every few minutes, but it was a fun time that we all had together.

Welcome new members, this is only the beginning, be prepared for my intense training 101.
