This really seems like a joke (I know the hole headquarters /w 1000s square feet thing is).

EDIT by Chantal: sorry, but have to take the link out although you perhaps don't intend to be advertising for them.

Playing the game should be fun, i.e. something you want to do. Wanting to pay someone to level your character is really ridiculous. Maybe this would fly with EverQuest, but hasn't GW eliminated any grind? I think it has.

I have also seen these. If I didn't know any better, I'd say they're breaking the EULA. Although it's not strictly selling in-game items for real currency, it's still selling a virtual service. Plus, this takes out all the fun.

I'd have to say you'd be a fool to pay for this and miss out on all the fun of actually playing it.

I have to agree wholeheartedly that this is so silly. This game is fun, visually stunning and has great sound. The whole point of the game is to experience the content while having a load of fun, not level up. It is sad thats people will actually pay to have a character leveled... and to what end?

To give up out of frustration once they get to the ascension trials...

It is their choice and all, but I would say they'd be screwed out of their money for the service as well as what they paid for a retail copy of GW. The way GW plays, your level is almost totally irrelevant when compared to the importance of playing, being defeated or succeeding, and learning what you were doing wrong or right to cause your defeat or success.

By having someone else "level your character to 20", a player would really be at a huge disadvantage. Think of all the skills you might or might not have available. What about the 30+ hours of picking up drops for that one good weapon that is perfect for your character? What about the runes you would acquire in that time as well? Gold? Crafting materials? I have a hard time believing that any one of those leveling services are playing with your character's best intentions in mind, like you would. Not to mention, when I'm playing I'm always looking out for equipment for my alts, something the leveling services won't be doing for you either.

The best things you can get for your character are only available after ascension, so even at level 20(where the leveling services stop) there is still so much more left to do and without having the learning experience of actually playing to 20, you as the player, would be gimped.

Face it, with any MMORPG (and yes I do consier Guild Wars one), there will be people who want to be a badass without puttiing in the neccesary work.

Yep, but letting someone else lvl the char for you is stupid:
1) You have no idea off you available spells, weapons, armor.
2) You are missing the story line
3) You probally Total lacking in the team/game requirements to be sucesfull in what Quest/Mission/Fight.
4) You are missing the point off the game (it's about getting most out your char not leveling)

Hmm would be fun to take such a one directly to Underworld/Fissure, maybe that would get the message through

This is perhaps just a bit worse than the argument that "Bonus Missions are a waste of time."

it may be silly. on the other hand, some people may accept those risks and want to do it anyway. just keep in mind that the fact that you consider something to be silly should have no bearing on whether or not people are allowed to do it. at this time, i'm not aware that there are rules against it.

i just wanted to head this thread off and get my paragraph written before it got to the point of people crying 'ban', like they did for casinos. in this case, at least, there isn't the ton of spam.

GW does have PvE grind. Someone who wants to PvP can easily use these services. Companies like IGE even schmooze with companies like NCSoft at gaming conventions.

Fact is, a public company (like NCSoft) is *legally* liable to try to make as much money as possible. If there is a marke tfor it, they will go into it.

The game does get tiring after beating the game with your 2nd character.

I'm about 75% of the way through taking my 2nd character to the end. I've been surprised how much I've enjoyed going through the game again with a different set of skills. I do wonder though, if it'll be as much fun a third time. I'm planning on taking three characters through and leaving one for variable PvP characters. They are E/R, Mo/N, Me/W so that I can unlock the skills from all the professions. After taking two characters all the way through, if I was given the option of unlocking all skills (like in beta) for my 3rd character, I'd be hard pressed not to click that button and start using my new character's full range of power right away.
