View Full Version : life is so cruel
it seems that life simply doesn't want me to play guild wars.
i had scheduling conflicts on every one of the beta weekends, test on both of the early access days (so i couldn't skip), and now, when it finally gets to the weekend and i can buy it, both of my siblings are having friends over on BOTH days, and therefore my parents cannot take the time to drive with me out to the store. (i only have my permit, no license yet :(, and the nearest store is like 1/2 hour away)
now, both of my parents hate Best Buy (and so do I) and refuse to buy things from them (we had some real issues with them trying to get our WARRANTEED computer repaired), so i can't just have them pick it up for me. I have to get one of them to take 1 1/2 hours of time to ride with me while i go to pick it up.
then i have to justify paying $80 for the CE rather than the $50 for regular. i need the headset, so it's completely worth it.

Why dont u just take the bus and buy it yourself instead of having your parents drive. From the sounds of it, you really desperate to play it. But in this game, I dont think a head start would make much difference as oppose to someone who will play the game a week later than them. The game actually lives up to it's claims of being a game that "rewards strategy then hours played". So if u cant get it soon, just read up on strategies, get ready, and you'll do just as well as people that got a head start :).

Theres alot of solutions to this problem.
First off, If you cannot spare the time to drive, simply order it online at Gamestop, EB, etc. Even if you hate Best Buy, thats not reason not to buy a game there if you are desperate.
If the only reason you want the CE is for the Headset, you can purchase a decent set for around 10 USD complete with microphone.
do not get a 10 dollar headset.
the sound quality will give you a headache within 10 minutes and the earphones are almost always uncomfortable. the ones that come with the CE arent too bad actually, but there are definitely better ones out there. they are definitely not worth the 30 bucks if thats all you want the CE for, so if you have no interest in the 3 months of Teamspeak, music soundtrack, and art book, then just get a regular copy and buy yourself some good padded headphones.
the divine aura is next to nothing in the game, so dont let that factor into your decision.

yes...collectors editions to me is worthless. For every copy of CE that they sell, it's proof what geniuses these guys are at making money. If you compare price / quality / usefullness , you'll see that buying the CE is not worth it. First of all, the price is almost 50% extra that of the regular price...second on the quality, like taki explains, their Ok, but definatly better ones. Lastly, the things it gives you arnt really usefull...a poster, having your hands light up...thats not really worth 30 bucks is it???

I agree. Why would u want the CE  ? Say, just for the sake of arguement, a pair of headphones equal to the CE ones cost $25. So your paying $5 for an art book, a soundtrack you can rip off the normal CD with realplayer, and a glowing aura plus $25 for a set of prepicked headphones that you may not like.

and besides, quit whining. I told u to go buy the normal one on Friday, but no... you had to have "Collectors Edition." I said, why would you want to give up a day of play time just to get Collectors edition? but did u listen to me? Noooooo. You have only yourself to blame :mad71:
Well, the people who have bought the collector's edition have said that the headset is very nice and comfortable, and they really liked the art book. The divine aura was a bit lacking, though.

now now lets not be mean
How long do you think it will be before you can get it?
If you dont envision yourself getting it for a few weeks, we can work out a deal through the postal service. I immagine it would take about 2, or maybe 3 weeks for you and I to get it sorted out, but if you really dont see yourself getting it before then, I'll help you out.
Just let me know.
its not the CE that was the problem, it was the getting to the store. once i get to a store i can get whatever i want.

Heh I feel your pain Solis, I've owned the game since the last BWE, however I found out my comp is REALLY crappy. I ordered some more RAM and a pretty sweet video card that was supposed to come in last monday... well it's been a week and still nothing .
Anyways maybe we'll be able to PvE togther... in about a month when both of our luck changes :happy34:

We have one collectors edition, and one regular game of GW. We bought the exact same headset that came with the CE @ Comp USA for $22. We saw the same one @ Wal-Mart for $16. Oh well, we like our CE, and I am super jealous of hubby when I see his Aura... grrr.... :)
