View Full Version : A bit of a graphics issue.
Hello all. I have been experiencing a bit of the graphics issue, in the beta and also since the game went live. After a few minutes of play, the ground turns a solid color, usually white. This also causes lag issues. My graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce 2 MX/MX400, and running on AMD Athlon XP 1700. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be much appreciated. thanks :)
I honestly think a new vid card is the thing you need.
My system is not as powerful as yours and I run it with a pci slotted 128mb radeon 9200se. With everything turned to low or off, it is a highly playable game.
But if I turn anything up high, whoa! It is painful.
Also I play it full screen @ 1024x768.
You didn't say if you play it in a window or full screen, try it in window mode. AFAIK, window mode uses less resources.
It may help?
Also...A friend of mine plays GW with a Duron 900 and 512mb ram. Vid is a GF4 mx card with 64mb ram and he says it's ok. But like me, he has turned all the un-necessary vid effects to low or off....we have to...lol
I'm having the same issue. I find that taking a screenshot (just hit the print screen button) is the quickest way to reset the textures while running around. This happens either in town or out in the countryside. I'm thinking it's quite possibly a resource issue as well.
I've got an integrated GeForce4 MX graphics accelerator on my Soltek EQ-3702A mini-pc. I'm not really sure what that translates to, but probably something that's not quite enough for this game. :) I do have an open AGP slot, which I may just have think about filling with something a little more substatial.
I usually play in full screen mode with auto-detected settings around mid-quality at I think 1280x1024. I'll play around with window mode and lowering the settings and see if that helps.
My experience with windows mode (and this was on a different PC with a non-supported Radeon 7500 video card) was that it was much much less resource-efficient...the game is very choppy and barely runs.
When stuff breaks up like that, or looks cracked and white, it's called having artifacts. They are very bad things to have, most times indicating an overload on the card. It can cause permanent damage so don't push it. Keep the card for a back up but go out a buy something with a little more pep in its step. :happy34:
I would recommend for Nvidia the FX range. the FX5200 is very cheap and will still cope with the graphics.
For ATI 9000 or above should be sufficient. I have a 9600XT and run the game with everything turned on at 1024 x 768.
2.2 gig Athelon XP clock 1.8Ghz
Saphire 128Mb 9600XT
NTL 800mb cable conection.
XP home sp2
Please note the game runs fine on my daughters machine. 1.2 gig Duron, 512Mb Ram and a 64Mb Gforce3Ti
That wont help. He may not need a new video card. I have an AMD 2400 and a 9800 pro and have the exact same problems. It is the game, mroe likely than the game. I tihnk there are a lot of overload issues with the graphics engine as a whole. I would wait for an update, or something along those lines. Keep checking up with the tech support people and see if anything has been done. If it still does it after that, then maybe you may need a new graphics card. I would say you may, your's is kinda weak. (no offense)
