View Full Version : DISO: Expert Salvage Kit!
I'm looking for someone to trade me one of these for the same price that you buy them from NPCs with. I have just about my whole stash filled with precious and highly salvagable items, and very little other room to spare, so it would benefit me greatly to finally salvage those. The only problem is that I just got to post-searing Ascalon.
I'm pretty sure it's 400 gold for each expert salvage kit, so I'll pay that. If you can do me this favor and buy one for me and then trade it to me, whisper me at "Diab of Dii" in-game, please. Thanks!
I thought precious items just got you more gold. It's the highly salvagable ones and the purpley guys you want to expert salvage.
Maybe, but I have a lot of both kinds of items.
Precious sell for more gold not salvage more so there's some space you can seave ;) I'll get you one as soon as i'm in the area for one. I don't think it'll be to long as long as i stop exploring and get the missions done

Hey Zero, do you think you could get me one too. I'll reimburse you ofcourse, and I'll tell you what, I'll even refer to you as 'Zero Master of the Universe' for the entire day. Pwetty Pwease?
(Tsume wants to salvage Fur Squares and make a huge profit in Ascalon City, since people pay like 50 g for each one..course now everyone knows how to salvage them, so Tsume's brilliant plan will end in failure and lots of fur squares....muahahahah...oh wait...thats not good)

You pay about 400 gold for them I believe, and yep as far as I know the earliest to get them is in Yak's Bend.
What you do early on is buy an identifictation and normal salvage kit, and then open up your bags and go to a merchant at the same time when your full.
If you can get 5 or more gold for a weapon thats not precious or highly salvageable, sell it to the merchant because its worth more than if you salvaged it. But if the item is only worth 2 or 3 gold, salvage it, and whatever material you get its usually worth atleast 5 gold to just merchants alone.
Also, collect those materials and trade them off for the good weapons, a lot of the caster weapons, focus items, and the Rin Blade in particular are worth 20-30 gold each, so if your doing a lot of quests in a Charr area and get lots of Charr Carvings (they salvage into wood anyway) you can buy several Rin Blades. Thats what I did, and I made a few hundred that way. And every little bit helps early on. Tanned Leather Belts from bandits (previously 'Worn Belts') salvage down to tan squares which are prob more valuable then what you could get from the collector for them.
The biggest pay offs are focus items that are +5 or better. They are usually allways 20 gold, and you can find 4 or 5 per quest usually, so make sure to pick them up. Use and identify kit on anything blue, salvage the highly salvageble and sell the precious.
Thats what I've done so far, and I'd say I have a nice chunk of change for being just a low level character.

How do you get these "Rin Blades"?
Anyone know if the armor value on salvageable armor parts has anything to do with what you can salvage from them? I tend to think it does from my observations, but it could've been luck too... So far I've salvaged a few pieces of silk, leather squares and steel, always from armor with a value of 25 or higher. That's why I wonder about the news that charr armor can yield fur squares; their armor is usually lower in value. Am I better off searching in the higher-level areas?
Thanks for the tips. I guess I'll sell all my precious items to merchants.
I just started on post-searing Ascalon, just exploring a bit in the Old Ascalon area. So far, I have about 900 gold.
Zero, I appreciate it. I'll be getting on later today.
Tsume, bandits still drop worn belts. I haven't seen any of these tanned leather belts yet.

The higher the level of the armour piece the more chance of salvaging more/better you have from it. It also sells for more because its a higher level.
I got to yaks bend tonight, completed every quest just borlis pass there now. I'll log on and get you both those expert salvage kits, can't believe i jsut spent 7xx gold on a new outfit and i'm still to get my mask (i need a bolt of silk to get the one i need....).
So tanned hides sell for alot? didn't know that, i got over 120. I've been giving them away here and there just the odd 1 or 6 when people in the trade have needed them. i've collected over 300 altogether and after armour making +give aways this is what i'm left with. Suppose i should start trading it off.
Anyway i'm off to read and then sleep (i guess) i've got 6 hours of class in about 6 hours...
Catch me online and remind me to get those kits someone
Undead, do i get to shout "by the power of grayskull!!" or "I have the power!!" ?

Talk to a collector in a city (Old Ascalon) I think...
thats also the sword Devona uses.

You must not be in post searing yet. From what I can tell Worn Belts are in presearing, and Tanned Leather Belts are in post searing.

Ah he called me Undead! It burns....! IT buuuhhhh aaaa eeernns!
The Rin Blade I bought over and over was from the collector in post searing Piken Square. There were enough charr in the area that I bought probably close to a dozen swords when it was all said and done, and they sell for 20+ each IIRC.

Oh, I didn't know there were bandits in post-searing. Unless they're the ones abundant in the mountains besides the dwarves?
hi,
after i finally found out how to get fur, i had my alt buy 2 expert salvage kits, then i logged on my other char and got kits from vault, well, first try, i got 1 fur from the char hides, then after using 2 whole kits, i still only have 1 fur which i sold this afternoon for a really good price, remember, you get 25 tries. needless to say i was a bit upset, used 50 times and only got one fur? sheesh, just passing this on to you................

I only use expert salvage kits on the items that are "Highly Salvageable" or any special or rare items with which I have unlocked something by identifying it. I would never waste expert salvage kits on normal items like charr hides, unless I was rich with platinum (or whatever it's called that equals 1k gold).
Also, thanks Tantrax for the help with getting a couple of kits!

Actually, Fur Squares are only obatainable from the Charr Hides as I understand it currently. And they pay very handsomely. Someone on the guild chat yesterday said they wanted one becuase some guy was offering 4 or 500 for one. If thats the case then that one Fur Square would be a very lucrative endeavor.

Well as the other person said, it can take a lot of tries to get one. An expert salvage kit costs 400 gold. If you use that whole of it up, you're only getting up to 100 gold profit by this offer you saw. I believe charr hides are worth 4 or 5 gold each if sold to an NPC, so 25 of those is 100 or 125 gold to NPCs. And other players usually buy them for around 10-15 gold each, so that's even more.
Unless you need the fur squares yourself for crafting, I think it's a waste trying to get them by salvaging items for them.

I see your point Diab. Hmm, tell ya what, Im fixing to have a character running all around that region and Ill get an Expert kit or two and salvage every hide i get with it and let you know my findings. Hopefully we can figure out surely if the average yeild is beneficial like i think, or a dud like your suggesting. I hope its not a dud lol, im staking almost my whole fortune on this.
I'm a gambling man, woot!...
Also...people like Plottski with 20000+ gold...really....really....stink. lol.

Heh, actually I found two charr hides after I made that post and decided to try to expert salvage them. The first one got me cloth or something, but the second, a fur square! I also saw someone buying fur squares for 800 gold each today, so it may be worth it after all.
Maybe it's a gamble but I've been saving all my char hides until I get an expert salvage kit to try for furs. Sad thing is I don't think any of my characters even need them. We'll see how it works out.

holy moly squares go for that much ,wow. guess i better start selling lol i got like 80 of em

80 Fur squares?! Maybe you're mistaking them with Tanned Hide Squares?
By the way, what's your character's name? Mine is Diab of Dii if you ever want to play or do something.

Is the leather square same as fur square? or totally different?

No, they're different. Would you say a leather jacket looks and feels the same as a fur coat?
Hehe, scrape out the fur and it's leather to me :D . Anyway, why it says leather square is a rare crafting material?

Well it means that leather is more valuable and say you need 30 cloth for something, you might need 4 leather for a better version of it. They are just rare crafting materials.

So how much are they all worth? I know about 500 for a gur square, I got 1. But how much for tanned hide square and leather squares? I'm saving up for the 15k armor.
The tanned hide squares don't seem to be in much demand now, so I'd say around 10 gold per square, like all other common materials. The leather squares I think I've seen go for around 100 gold each.
For the leather squares, you could have a NPC makes for you (he's outside of Sardelac Sanitarium walking towards Ascalon). Forgot how much does he charge to make tho.
