Name your pet!

Just as it says. I've seen countless rangers running around with unnamed pets, and I allways ask them 'Hey buddy, do you know how to name your pet?'. And their answer is allways something like 'You can name your pet?'.

So, just incase any of you are one of those Rangers running around with a Moa Bird, type in this little command:

/namepet xxxxx

where the 'xxxx' part is the desired name of your pet. This way that Moa can officially and properly be called Big Bird, like you know you have allways wanted him to be.

Seriously, how can you look at a Moa Bird or Strider and not think about PecoPecos and Chocobos?

My current pet is a Dune Lizard aptly named "Godzilla." Godzilla is currently level 9 (or maybe he just hit 10) and I'm 17. I'm starting to think that Dune Lizards are rather impressive pets. At level 8 he was beating the everloving snot out of a level 8 Charr Firecaller without any help. I'd say he must have a damage range of 7~13 and rising. He also seems to take a good beating. Tried to let him solo a level 10 Stonesummit Howler, but the howler was eating up his HP too fast with life draining. =\

I did a few mission's without Fido and it was a lot harder to complete them.

When it reached level 10 it became a "playful stalker", it will change again at level 15 and then at level 20, but I can't remember what those were off the top of my head.

I got a lvl 5 bear called Satan I think saturday morning, and when I hit 20, he got to 17. Not sure how good he is against the enemy, apart from a tank, because everything I'm up against is lvl 20 or higher, and he's not there yet. Can;t really tell.

On a side issue- does anyone know how to change your pet in PvP in a premade? I'm certain I've seen a bear in PvP before, but I'm stuck with a stupid wolf. (or is that one of the benefits of taking a PvE char into the PvP arenas?)

My Ranger has a spider named Queen Anne. Sadly Queen Anne's Revenge wouldn't fit, but I couldn't think of anything better. He previously had a wolf named Ravage (Transformers ftw! :D )

My Mesmer has a warthog named Mantraofpork (So wish they'd let me have the spaces, I love that name)

He only died twice on a recent guild trip through Dunderhead Keep using a B/P team. Everyone else had spiders... bug guts all over the place... yuck.

I will probably swap him for a tiger once factions hits. Not sure if I want a regular orange/black or a white one. Although my guildies do go gaga every time he makes an appearance. At any rate the new pet will probably be named 'Fleabag Jr'.

(One a side note, if I ever get a wolf, I'd probably name it 'Ex Girlfriend'... lol. Ok, queue the female gamer with a pet pig named 'Ex Boyfriend'.... argh.)

IMO, they're all good but in different ways and more down to preference. Do you want your pet to deal out more damage and have less health (dire) or have more health but deal out less damage (hearty)...no idea about the Elderly, I guess it's something in the middle of dire and hearty.

To get rid of your pet, go and speak with Jarrel the Tamer. He can be found just outside post-searing Ascalon City or next to Master Ranger Nente in pre-searing Regent Valley. Once you have got rid of your pet (you cannot get it back) go charm a new one.
