Pet lost due to Postsearing?

Forgive my ignorance, but I have only been playing this game for 2 days.

I'm currently a level 7 elementalist/ranger and during presear game, I had a cat as a pet. Ever since going into the postsear game, I have not had my pet. I've tried resurecting (sp?) him, going to a different city/land, etc. and the only message I get is that my pet is out of range.

So, did I loose it? :confused: Do I have to charm a new one? Thanks in advance.

No, I replaced it with something else once I got my pet. Do I need to have it back on the bar to retrieve my pet postsear?

To have your pet you must have Charm Animal on skill list.

I have charm animal on my skill LIST, but it is NOT on my active hotkeys (1-8) bar.

Overview: I charmed a cat. I got a new skill and changed my hotkeys to no longer include Charm Animal. My pet and I got along fine, leveled nicely, died and resurected, etc. Then I went post-sear and *presto* no more pet.

So, do I need to have charm animal on my hotkeys again? Or do I have to get a new pet?

In order for your pet to follow you, you must have the Charm Animal skill in one of your 8 skill slots. If you remove it, then you'll still have the pet, but it just won't follow you. Suffice it to say, if you're a Ranger with a pet, you only really have 7 skills to work with.
