i was in a mission as a monk lvl 9 and was told by someone i was a rubbish monk as i couldnt ressurect them more than once. and they also said i could getressurect skill near ascalon in post searing. thats where i am but i canr find it, does this make me a rubbish monk?
i thought i was doing well as a fighting smiter monk.
unfortunatley some peoples comments have ruined my fun in the game.
so any help with where i can find it would be useful.

Resurection can be found in Old Ascalon from a monk near Sardelac Sanitarium. He is just Southwest of the entrance. He will give you two quests to do. Do them, and come back to him. He will then give you a third quest with Resurection as the reward. Complete that to get the skill. The quests are not that hard, I completed them with a group of henchman.
Hope this helps.

some people think a monk's entire purpose of existence is to heal them personally. having said that, it really would be silly to take the res signet into battle rather than the res skill. :)

Should be SW of the entrance to Sardalac.

Hi first time poster. Thanks to this post I have killed every mob in Old Ascalon .
Actually I think you all got your directions mixed up . I just recieved the 1st two Quests from what i think is the guy. He is actually South East of the Sanitarium.
Name
Grazden the Protector
He's near the NPC's for "Scavangers in Old Ascalon", and "Farmer Hamnet"
I went SW first and there is an Elementalist trainer there (Salev) whome I have done quests for before.
Anyway .... Grazden is here. I am doint the 1st two quests for
-Heal Party
-Bane Signet
-Orison of Healing
-Heal Area
-Vital Blessing
I can only hope that once I have completed these he'll give me Ressurection.
Personally I don't thin any MNK/??? or ???/MNK should be without Ressurection. It can turn a party wipe into a successfull mission.
I'll report back once the 1st 2 quests are finished.
Thanks - Out :happy14:

SPOILER ALERT
I'll report back once the 1st 2 quests are finished.
I did these as a 10 ELM/MNK with no Henchmen
Okay Here is what I did to gain the rest of my MNK abilities.
Find Grazden the Protector near the NPC's for "Scavangers in Old Ascalon", and "Farmer Hamnet".
Quest 1: Sowing Seeds (Escort Farmer Hamnet to Ascalon City)
Soloable? Yes (or bring Henchmen if under level 8)
If you came to Grazden directly from Ascalon city more than likely you'll have cleared most of the route. Just run with him back to Ascalon, and keep him alive.
Quest 2 Protecting Ascalon (Find Paulus In Regent Valley.\)
Soloable? Yes if you have Fort Ranik on Map. If not bring henchmen.
If you have Fort Ranik then warp there, step outside, kill A few bandits, and find Paulus's body. You'll get the Holy Symbol. Take it back to Grazden.
Quest 3 [Can't remember name] (Tell Paulus' Girlfriend about his death.
Soloable? Yes
Run from grazden back towards Ascalon. Melka is near the city entrance. Talk to her.
Tadaaaa
Good luck, and keep them Res's coming! ^^

You are probably right about it being SE. He is in the area where Devona was in pre-searing. When I answered the question, orginally, I was at work and going off my memory.
Sorry, I'll try harder next time when answering someone's question.

It is Grazdan, to the SE of the Sanitarium.
I'm sorry some people have been ruining the game for you. That sucks.
That said, if you want to be a non-healing monk, you should make sure you let people know. It's just like stereotypes in real life, unfortunately. Tell people you are a fighting monk looking for a group or whatever, and they SHOULD figure it out.
I primarily play an E/Mo, but as a Healer, which I have to say or people don't understand.

This is not a flame but I just wanted to say something. It's my opinion as a monk that your primary focus should be healing. If you want to have a secondary focus as smiter, that's okay but you are going to have a tough time with groups criticizing you if you're running out of power for heals because you're focusing on being offensive in nature. As a monk, groups are probably going to pick you up as a healer, not as extra damage.
I don't think that you're going to change the overall perception of monks as primary healers and I'm not sure why that you'd want to take on that battle anyways. If you want to deal damage, why not play an elementalist?

cuz some people just don't like how the elementalist look... the art team put alot of effort into making these model and i want to make sure i am spending my time looking at a character that looks good to me.
I created and made my monk to be a healer primarily, but one of the great things with this game is the attribute points. When I solo, I put as many as I can into Smite the rest into heals. However when i group, I swap it around and put everything into Healing Powers, and my spell lineup also reflects that.
My group today even commented that i was the first monk theyd come across that was happy to constantly heal. To be honest Ive played a healer in online games for so long Im not sure i could ever trust anyone else to heal me or my group LOL
But I do think, as stated by others, that you will need to warn your group if youre not going to be playing a healer so they can get another healer into the group.
