Silly topic I'm sure. But I would really value some honest opinions.

Here's where I am - I'm currently looking for a game to play at home, preferably on the PC. I was playing DII for fun, but got tired of it after a month or so. I played Ultima Online a couple years ago, and was considering going back to that, but really don't want to pay the online fee for a game that hasn't changed much in the last 7 years. I was also considering playing WoW, and even though my friends and my brother tell me the fee is worth it, I really don't want to have to pay it.

Guildwars looks awesome to me. But I need some facts -

I hear the max level is 20. How quick is it to get there and what do you do after that?

I'm certain my computer meets all of the suggested requirements except for the video card. It's the default that came with my computer, it's 32mb - an S3 Ati Rage. Think it can handle this game?

Also, I'm curious about the replayability. Have you, or anyone you know, gotten tired of it really fast? Or is there Plenty to do for PvM and PvP alike.

Thanks in advance.

Getting to level 20 is very easy to reach. Its quicker than every mmorpg that I can think of to reach this per hour of gaming spent content considered. There is quite a bit of the game content left after 20, I believe about half of the game content is post 20. I cant give you a definite x number of weeks or days on anything because I dont know your play schedule.

Replayability is a subjective question. By replaying, you will have to go through every single quest and area you went through previously if you completed all of them and none of this will have changed. The only difference being, you'll use a different skill set if you play a different class.

my advice is that considering you're on a budget it seems, buy guild wars and see if you like it. Once you buy WoW (an awesome game imo) your stuck with a monthly fee and can only play the first month for free. With guild wars, if at first you dont like it.. you can shelve it and pick up another game always to return to guild wars free of charge.

I think it is very much worth it. I don't live an die by computer games (I have 3 kids 6 and under and a full-time job), and I really like the way this game is setup. It gives great flexibility in how you play it. I enjoy questing, and haven't even tried PvP yet, nor have I explored the world that thoroughly (it seems HUGE to me, and I figure I'll be playing it for months). I really enjoyed DII as well; the combat here is more strategic and less frenetic, and this gives value as well. The skill system really provides opportunities to try new combinations and play your style, which is ultimately the source of the value of the game - you play it like you want to, not how the programmers want you to.

As far as your hardware goes, the game is pretty lenient in requirements, but an older 32 MB card is probably at the bottom of the list of what will run the graphics. I have a 128 MB FX5200 (not a burner even when it was new), and the game looks and plays extremely well. Good luck!

The max level is 20. It took me me around 45+ hours or so to get to level 20. When I got there I still wasn't done with PvE and finishing all the missions or the game itself. Then there is PvP where you can go up against other players which is what I think makes this game great.

I don't know much about the requirements so hopefully someone can answer that one for ya.

I've been playing since the beta events and I'm still not tired of it for there are 6 different proffessions to play with and I only gone through with 1 and ready to start another. So I say there is much replay ability.

Hopefully this helped you make your decession.

Lvl 20 is the lvl that Anet considers the "mature" lvl for the character. This game is not about grinding like other games therefore the lvl is just an arbitrary number. This game is more about strategy, team and skills. Each profession (primary/secondary) have multiple skills but you can only equip 8 at a time. This will force you to plan out what to equip prior entering a mission/quest/PVP (can't change them once the mission/quest starts) since each situation dictates different needs. The minimum requirement for vid card "ATI Radeon 8500 or GeForce 3 or 4 MX Series Video Card with 32MB of VRAM" (from Anet) so I don't know what S3 ATI Rage is equivalent to.

Well I know it's 32MB. Regardless, I'm going to pick up this game today and am pretty sure I can yank one of those video cards of eBay for cheap. I appreciate all of the input, and will check back after I've had some time to check it out this evening.
