All hail Thundercleese! ^_^/)

I saw an elementalist doing the strangest thing the other day in the wilds: Going into combat with a sword. And what's more, clobbering whatever she fought. Then I saw another one...interesting.

So I was thinking of going for my own E/W, but with an air magic theme, namely the quick-casting lightning spells, in addition to Conjure Lightning with a shocking sword. I know I'll need Armor of Earth to give me defensive power like a warrior, and possibly windborne speed to counteract the speed deduction from Armor of Earth.

Just thoughts. I'm working on a tentative build, but it can't be set in stone since the calculator still uses data from the final BWE.

Now you know why I mentioned Thundercleese (who rocks by default anyway).

It's definately intresting. Blinding Flash would help you as well. I love how Guild Wars leaves things open like this, great idea.

Yeah, I'd considered blinding flash. It wouldn't be unlikely for my enchantments (Conjure Lightning & Armor of Earth) to be stripped during combat! That could be a real problem, considering the "blah" defense of elementalist armor. I'd also considered using Glimmering Mark for the task as my elite, since I'd be weilding a Shocking weapon anyway. Chain Lightning could be a good emergency zap, and possibly even Shock or Lightning Touch.

Still fine tuning it...I'll have it soon for posting. 8)

Shock would definately be a great tool to have in the bag. One thing about Elementalist Armor that makes it better then Warriors when you talk about Armor of Earth, is the fact that you have a perminate Elemental Armor as well.

Here it goes...

"Thundercleese"

Class: Elementalist / Warrior

Assumed items:
+1 to Energy Storage
+4 to Air Magic
+1 to Earth Magic

Attributes: (cost)
Energy Storage: 7+1 (28)
Air Magic: 10+4 (61)
Earth Magic: 9+1 (48)
Swordsmanship: 10 (61)

Total attribute points used: 198/200

Skills:
1) Sever Artery - (4a,0,0) If this attack hits, the opponent begins bleeding for 18 seconds, losing health over time.
2) Gash - (7a,0,0) If this attack hits a bleeding foe, you strike for 8 more damage and that foe suffers a deep wound, lowering that foe's maximum health by 20% for 15 seconds.
3) Hamstring - (10,0,15) If this attack hits, your target is crippled for 11 seconds, slowing his movement.
4) Glimmering Mark (elite) - (10,2,15) For 15 seconds, whenever target foe suffers lightning damage, that foe and all adjacent foes suffer from blindness for 3 seconds. This is an elite skill.
5) Enervating Charge - (10,1,8) Target foe is struck for 47 lightning damage and suffers from weakness for 19 seconds. This spell has 25% armor penetration.
6) Shock - (5,3/4,10) Target touched foe is struck for 57 lightning damage and is knocked down. This spell has 25% armor penetration. This spell causes exhaustion.
7) Armor of Earth - (10,3/4,15) For 30 seconds, you gain 48 armor, but move 26% slower than normal.
8) Conjure Lightning - (10,1,60) Lose all enchantments. For 60 seconds, if you're wielding a lightning weapon, your attacks strike for an additional 15 lightning damage.

"Sideboard" Skills:
Windborne Speed - (10,1,5) For 9 seconds, target ally moves 33% faster.

Low-energy/Higher defense variation:
Attributes: (cost)
Energy Storage: 3+1 (28)
Air Magic: 10+4 (61)
Earth Magic: 9+1 (48)
Swordsmanship: 10 (61)
Tactics: 6 (21)

Equipment:
Shocking Sword of Enchanting, with + X% damage while health over 50/while enchanted -OR- a "Fortitude" Sword
Foci with health +X while enchanted (or some other relevant condition)
Storm's Eye w/ Superior Air Magic Rune
Superior Vigor Rune
Minor Earth Magic Rune
Minor Energy Storage Rune

It's designed to churn out conditions (bleeding, deep wound, crippled, blinded, weakened). I'd hate to be fighting that build with fragility on me. The first rendtion would probably have me using some sort of Foci so that I'd have some 65ish energy at my disposal. In the event that I find I need more defense I can lose the Foci and drop energy storage for Tactics. I could then go for a decent shield with a low tactics requirement (they're out there...) and some appropriate bonus. A good enchanting Pommel would be a nice thing to stretch a few more seconds out of Conjure Lightning and Armor of Earth. Conjure Lightning isn't mandatory, but +15 damage per strike in Melee is hard to pass up. Windborne speed is optional but may make its way into the build considering I'll be suffering a speed loss thanks to Armor of Earth.

Being a Elem/Warrior has its advantegs, btw I play a Fire/Sword E/W.
I love that while I'm waiting for my nukes to recharge, I'm still dealing decent damage to my foes.

I would post my skill line up... but that seems to change each time I'm in town...
The only two skills that allways stay, seems to be Hundred blades (great AOE for swords...and it raises your addren so fast...*grins*) and Pheonix.

A dragon sword seems to "add to the illusion" of a true Fire Warrior, though I had to trade mine out when I got a better rare forked sword. (had ice damage... and I couldn't harm the fire imps worth my salt with a dragon and being a fire elem... now I can just hack them down to size... *grins*)
