So what do you think of my new pet? :D

ooo nice :) im suprised more people haven't tamed them. they are tameable in pre-sear right?

Pre-searing only has brownish Moss Spiders, not Black Widows

Black Wiodw is the named spider, it was a moss spider before.
Dude, how did you make it? Just tamed, without any problems? Or did you went to a special area where they are?

wait, I see a problem. You say you just tamed a spider. You are level 20. All pets have level 5 when you tame them, so how did you brought your spidey to 20 in that short time?

Yup, it's a photoshop job ... you can tell because the name of the pet is a cut & paste job from another screenshot. Notice the black/dark colors in it ... very blocky. Whoever did this was a novice/rookie.

Ummm... what? Maybe you should look at the picture again. The name bar is semitransparent, as it always is. It is also placed on top of the spider's SHADOW. That would make the name bar darker in some places and lighter in others. Seriously, that's no cut-and-paste job, and if it is, it's NOT a novice one.

Yeah the shadow and the ground colour through the name bar all line up quite well if it is a photoshop job then it is a well done one, and if it's not then I think everyone wants to know where you got it LoL

I tried that recently and it wouldnt let me. The message I got was Target is not an animal.
It isn't a photochop since I was with him when he charmed it, you get it from a quest in Kryta. :cool:

hmm... thought i did almost every quest in kryta... I will have to hunt more... can it be found when just in an explorable area or just quest... or do you know?
btw if you or him have fraps I would LOVE to see the spidey in action LoL

I dont know what all the fuss about and im not the kind that would lie about trivial things unless its for the sake of therapies i give, but i was witha group in the underworld once and the hunter tamed the black widow there, so i dont doubt the possibility that he did so as well

there are probably a select few that you can as in pre searing some show up green... maybe they grew up to be tameable?

bring a good party, do not talk to the NPC yet.
Have the party stay at that glowing runic circle and have one, preferrably with a bow, lure 1 or 2 of those Bladed Ataxe. Kill then repeat. Once you cleared the immediate area, talk to the ghost and continue on further till you reach the ghost town. There is a Black widow there.
The main tactic to survive in the underworld is luring. monsters are really strong so you need a good lurer to select a tiny group to lur eto the party for the killing.

You're right! I did photoshop it. I cropped the image because the original is almost 4 Meg and I converted it from a bmp to a jpg to make it smaller. I'd be glad to show you in game. You have my character name there so feel free to whisper me.

i realize this wouldnt be much of a "test" but a friend of mine and me went down the other day just too see what was goin on, 2 lvl20 W/Mo with end armor. Even with mending etc, after we were attacked by a group of 3 ataxe we were owned within 2-3 seconds(i have 549hp) :/. my friend didnt even see his health go down, he was just dead :eek:
luckily it was only 200 gold :/ but im still kind of worried about going down. do you think that a party i might pick up at the temple would be able to do ok there?

My sister is going to be extatic when she hears this :)
She's been trying to tame a Spider for several days now and gave up hope that it was possible.
I'd love some more information on how it compares to other pets though for example:
How tough is it? What's the attack speed compared to other pets (though I'm guessing it attacks fast)? does it do a lot of damage etc. etc.?
And also, what's the quest in Kryta since I haven't found anything there and it's a lot faster than charming one in the Underworld ;)

You know, when I saw that rabbit, I spent a good 5 minutes furious trying to Charm just cause I thought if I trying hard enough it'd work...just the delusional thoughts of a guy who'd been awake for nearly 20 hours at 6 in the morning. But I can't wait to get a spider. Friend is incredibly aracnophobic (I know I didn't spell that right), so when we party together and he sees it, guessing I'll hear him freak over Teamspeak, then freak even more when we can't attack it :happy65: . God I love my friends!

If you do the quest where you clear the teleporter in the ghost town in the underworld (or maybe it's the one where you escort the new souls), the forgotten vale reaper guy gives you a chest as a reward. Among the loot that pops out is a Hearty Black Widow, level 20. We assumed it was tameable since it seemed like a quest reward.

It looks real to me, and who ever said he *just* charmed it? He just states "I charmed a spider!" And the screeny looks real to me, and yes if it was a photoshop job than its a damn good one at that! lol

I just got my email telling me that a new Weebl & Bob is available to watch. I can hardly wait after the quality of the last ones.
I haven't seen a complete list of tameables, but you can get a warthog, dune lizard, black bear (outside of Beacon's Perch in the rough area), Melandru's Stalker, and a lynx. I haven't been able to tame a spider myself, or the bunny...Are there any others I don't know about?

you can charm a spider in pre searing at regent valley next to the tamer guy, the ranger guy who gives gives you charm animal and comfort animal, and the collector. i haven't tried but their names were in green so i'm just assuming they're tamable, correct me if i'm wrong

Not all pets start at lvl 5, at least in pre-searing. Melandru's Stalker is at lvl5, but the wolf I tamed was lvl2. I assume they start at the lvl they are already at.

there are no spiders in green pass that part anymore... I am pretty sure they were there during the first week of the game release... I think anet took them away.. or someone.
I am starting to come to a conclusion that spiders cannot be tamed... have yet to try the black widow.. or the pre-searing bear, b/c I cannot find it... can someone point me to the pre-searing bear? thx..

Jesus christ, NO YOU CANNOT TAME MOSS SPIDERS, they are not the same as Black Widows, look at a moss spider, then look at a black widow. See the difference? one's frickin huge, the other is a tiny little critter.
Yes the moss spiders in pre-searing are green, but you cannot tame them.
hakka - black bears in pre-searing can be easily found in wizard's folly, just travel to Foible's Fair, and go west after you leave the swirly point thing (I forget what these are called). you should find some black bears in the grass.

Yes I charmed a Dire Black Widow (level 20) as well. Very nice and it seems to kick more butt than any other creature I had previously, including the Dune Lizard.
GJ Anet, I wanna see more pets like the Black Widow in the future.

we must say this again: MOSS SPIDERS Are NOT Tamable in Pre-Searing, nomatter if its friendly or hostile. I tried all the moss-spiders in pre when I had an elementalist/ranger back in release, and no, they aren't.
BUT you can get a spider pet if you can last in the underworld long enough.
How to get a black widow pet.
1. Go to temple of ages.
2. Do underworld.
3. Tame the spider past the town full of spirits.
What you mean by "Do the underworld"?
Do you have to finish the 3 quests of the "Reaper Of The Labyrinth" to be able to see the black widow, do you have to do one particular quest (if so which one of the 3, "Unwanted guests", Escort of souls" or "Restore the monuments of grenth") or do you just need to explore the underworld until you find it (so it's there even if you don't do any of the 3 quests)?
