So, if 2 or more people want to use GW on THE SAME computer, each with different local profiles (XP prof) and GW characters why can't you create more than one GW account.

Surely, the access key is PC specific and NOT GW account specific, as typically software licences in reality are PC specific these days.

It seems to be having issues particularly with characters inventories, in that they are SHARING the same inventory - not needed if two individuals are trying to play to entirely seperate characters

Any advice on creating 2 GW accounts on the same computer greatly appreciated

You each have to have your own copy of the game. Then you would each have your own account name and password for login, your account name being your email address. If you bothe log in using the same email address, you are using the same account.

Thanks

So basically the access keys are not PC based, as in most corporate software, but user (account) based?

Therefore each person has to have their own individual access key, or use the same GW account, if using the same PC.

Is this going to be the future of online licensing...

Your account is server based. If it wasn't, it'd be rife for hacking etc...

umm... Keys are bound to the Account.

"this is going to be the future of online licensing" - ?? are you kidding? this is already how most games like this work.

online games have been doing this for over half a decade now. its not the future. its how the games have been. EQ, AC, WoW, DAoC, Steam, etc...

right, you can log into your account from ANY computer with the game on it, and ANYONE can log into his account from your computer, but the account has to have a retail CD key associated with it (which can be changed on the "edit account" menu).

multiple people can share an account, physically. but you can't both play at the same time from one account.

doing things this way is okay for online-only games. the difference between the way GW does it and the way D2 did it is that D2 associated the cd-key with the computer, while GW associates it with the account. however, GW also limits each cd-key to a single account, while D2 allowed an infinite number. in the end, the only difference is that you have to pay for each account in GW.

The account way is way better. Most games use this now, Planetside, WOW, All Halflife Games (steam). Its so much better than the cd key only way. Farcry doesnt have you make a account, as a result, when you try and play, your cd often shows up as being in use by someone else. Not that they have stolen it per say, but the system often forgets you have that cd key or something, and ends up having you need to reenter it.
